Celebrated my father's 70th birthday at Talia's last night. Talia's has always been my favorite kosher restaurant on the Upper West Side for their live music nights and great food. Love their Moroccan salmon and I knew my dad would, too.

I decided to bring my mother & friend to Talia?s Steakhouse for brunch ? an almost, pre mother?s day party! This is my favorite place Middle Eastern cuisine & great glatt kosher food ? except my friends not Jewish! But Talia?s Steakhouse has it all. Pancakes, waffles, eggs Florentine, omelets & brunch cocktails from bloody marys, mimosas to champagne! They cater to all & aim to please ? and they definitely succeed! Talia?s Steakhouse is a place to go!\n\nI cannot say enough how much I love this restaurant! Especially the atmosphere & candle light. Even in the bright of day, this restaurant has a romantic, comforting & relaxing feel. The servers always takes good care of us. So many times we have gone; we have almost had all the servers wait on us. Each & every one of them takes such good care of us & makes us feel right at home! With their attentiveness & hospitality, they go out of their way to make every trip to Talia?s Steakhouse memorable. All the staff is quite diligent & professional. Again, we love this restaurant!!!! \n

This was the worst brunch I have ever experienced in NYC in 30 years of going to brunch. The service was nonexistent. The food, when it finally arrived, was cold and inedible. And when speaking to management about it, they actually made it worse. WE did not eat our meals and when getting up to leave were served with a bill for taxes and an exorbitant tip of nearly $20- for HATEFUL service. The only people I would send here would be enemies

I came to Talia??s for lunch during the week and decided to pick a dish off their recession special menu selection. It is really good value as you get a main dish, a side and a soda for only $14. I had the chicken kebab with mashed potatoes. I was really impressed with the taste of the kebab and since the restaurant wasn??t busy, I asked to personally give my compliments to the chef!

We were visiting New York City for a conference and needed a place to eat Friday night dinner. I saw an advert for Talia?s Steakhouse online and was very pleased to see that they offered pre-paid dinners. They even had a choice of menu options! I e-mailed them to book and also to ask if they could suggest any hotels nearby. They promptly responded and we were happy with the hotel they recommended. Our table was ready for us when we arrived after shul and the food was delicious. This is a unique service that helped make our Shabbat in New York enjoyable and easy to arrange.

I went for a walk with my girlfriend, but it was way too cold to enjoy so our plans quickly changed to dinner and a movie. We were close to Talia's so we decided to go there, partially because it's been over 1 year, since our last visit. We were greated by a great waitrees with a big smile. She sat us down, checked our coats and and started us off with some drinks. For appetizer I had the buffalo wings and she had spinach and apple salad. Now I am not a salad guy, but I really liked it. Especially the dressing. Still, I was more involved with my hot wings that were so delicious I almost ordered a second round. For main, my girl hot the steak and I went for the BBQ ribs. The steak was right on the money - melted like butter. I honestly went for the ribs, because it was Monday night football and they had this huge TV right in my face. Believe me I tried - I sat with my back to the bar TV. If I hadn't promised her a movie, I would have been there all night!. Anyway back to the ribs. Soft, barely hanging on the bone and smothered in BBQ sauce? How can it be better? Onion rings on the side and a cold beer and I'm almost in heaven. Before I knew it, I had to get the check and run off to our movie. It was heartbreaking, until I saw they were advertising Superbowl specials! My mood was great for the rest of the evening - now I know where me and the guys will be watching the game this year or at least where we will get the food from! Talia's is the bomb! Great food, great prices (it won't break your pocket) and great service.

My husband and I were visiting NYC and got into the city pretty late. We were nearly certain there wouldn?t be any kosher restaurant still open ? but we were starving and really wanted to find kosher food. We were very surprised yet delighted when we called Talia?s nearly 11pm, to find the kitchen would still be open another hour! We came and had an extremely satisfying meal. Not caring about the late hour, we both ordered steaks ? a Filet and a Ribeye- and a lot of extras, a salad, soups, onion rings, falafel platter (we had plenty of leftovers for the next day, added bonus..!) It was great to find Talia?s and we will definitely be back for a normal dinner hour next time ? we think Talia?s has a lot to offer late night travelers like us and NYC residents alike!\n

I went last week to Talia's for the first time with my wife. The place was nice and relaxing, a little too dark. \nHowever, the food was terrible. I got the middle eastern combo, it was a variety of packaged frozen food that the kitchen microwaved for me. For the main course my wife and i ordered the steak. It was so bad we both could not finnish it ( we always finish the steak in every restaurant we have been to in the past). The rib eye tasted like a cheap five dollar piece of meat. It was chewy, too fatty, and poor steak. Based on our experience i will not go back to this place and would not recommend anyone to go there. \nWe work in midtown and passed 5 steakhouses, that i know of, to go to Talia's and i regret it.

I was really in a very good mood after I ate at this restaurant. When me and my boyfriend had a date last week, that night was a memorable one. \r\nThe place was just so perfect for us. The light were dim, with some candles on the table. It was so romantic.\r\nThere were some live musician during that time. The was astonishing, so delicious. The atmosphere was great. I am very much excited to come back here.

In the mood for a late night double date the other night, and Talia?s\nwas the perfect spot for that? It was Thursday night so the musician\nwas still around, which is one of the best parts about Talia?s. Not\nmany kosher places have musicians. Sharing Middle Eastern Kebab\nplatters of homemade Israeli salad, hummus, hot pita, with an\nexpensive bottle of wine, could not have made for a more enjoyable\nevening at our favorite restaurant.

I order from Talia's to go regularly and usually get a wrap or burger which I know will be good, but until tonight I hadn't actually been there in over a year, because the last time I went the service was kinda slow. All I have to say is tonight it was AWESOME!!! the service was great, and they had a lot of new menu options that blew my mind. If you haven't been in awhile I recommend giving Talia's another try. Sit out in the cafe and have the BBQ spare ribs....AMAZING! I will definitely be returning.\n\n

My husband and I were visiting the city from Stamford, Connecticut while he was on a business trip. Although our hotel provided buffet accommodations, we wanted to experience some of what the city restaurants have to offer. We have never really understood what kosher means, but we stumbled across Talia?s while wandering through the city late one evening. There was a live musician so we decided to come in to have a drink, which ended up turning into drinks, then a bottle of wine, and then some appetizers of wings and ribs. We enjoyed the atmosphere so much! The dim lighting and the candles, beautiful Hebrew wall artwork, along with the musician, really turned our mood romantic. We felt so relaxed and happy after our experience that we came back the next night for dinner again to try a full meal experience complete with steaks, and we were even more satisfied! We will definitely be recommending Talia?s to our friends who travel, and will be back again the next time we visit the city.

My fiance and i recently made a trip to Talias steak house of the upper west side for a romantic night out. This was the perfect choice! The first thing you'll notice when you walk in is the apparent feeling that this place is going for-romance! Dimly lit, with candles on every table, the setting is perfect for a cozy meal with someone special. The tables were all occupied by mostly couples, obviously this place is known for its romantic setting for anyone trying to impress a date! The waitresses were charming and talkative and everyone just seemed to be having fun. People were chatting from table to table-a great socializing experience as well! At one point the manager came in to check the floor and personally went around making sure guests were satisfied..this place is definately a place where you feel important from the moment you walk in! Live music a HUGE plus and added to the overall wonderful setting and excellent quality of food at fair prices. The menu was astonishingly varied and has something for everyone, even those picky eaters or those trying to watch their weight! Make sure you order some dessert, with a variety of tasty dishes there as well! I will surely be making my Valentines day reservations there, if they have any room left!

I don't think there is any place in the city where I would rather go for thanksgiving dinner other than Talia's Steakhouse. I went there with my family last year and really had a wonderful time. We were really happy with the service and the food. My parents were there with us too and they enjoyed it as well. They have turkey options for those of us who are traditional observers of this holiday, and other delicious options for those of us who don't get the turkey thrill. I already made our reservation for this year's thanksgiving festive dinner.

My wife and I had a great dining experience during the first night of Rosh Hashanah. Talia's is a kosher restaurant and as such offers prix fixe pre-paid dinners for kosher diners, who are forbidden to pay for the holiday and shabbat dinners at the end of the meal. So, Talia's offers a new concept of Glatt Kosher dining: pre-paid prix fixe menu options of $25, $38, $49. \nWe were very happy to try this new approach to going out to a New York restaurant without having to pay immediately after the meal. My wife already asked me to reserve seats for Sukkot and Simchat Torah. Highly recommended.

My wife and I are fan of Talia?s and we love Talia?s very diversified menu. There is something for everyone on their menus. It's definitely more of American and Middle Eastern cuisines; but they also have terrific salads. My wife loves The Thai beef salad and I love thee Moroccan salmon. If you crave fish, this is the place. You can get a hearty, firm-flesh fish, grilled, saut?ed or broiled salmon with two sides and? appetizer for $28. Good prices, portions and wonderful food. I will definitely visit Talia?s more than twice next week to enjoy the nine days menu which contains more than five types of fish. Talia?s 9 days menu last year was one of best nine days menu in kosher restaurant in Manhattan. The service is professional but sometimes you have to wait about half an hour for your main dish and therefore my wife and I start with an appetizer of Middle Eastern platter combo platter - regular hot dog, 1 spicy hot dog, 2 chicken fingers, Moroccan cigar and kibbeh with tahini sauce. The ambiance is very romantic, warm and cozy outdoor and indoor dining areas. Highly recommended!\n\n\n

Just as my friends and I were bemoaning the decline of glatt kosher restaurants, and particularly in their very epicentre of New York City, a client of mine told me about Talia?s. I was a little put off by the website, but decided I?d try it anyway. What a refreshing surprise. The mood and lighting made me feel instantly at home, and the service was extremely friendly and attentive. But I must say the delicious burger (with soy cheese, of course) is what made me a regular diner at Talia?s. The hummus, babaganoush, etc is all homemade and for the price, it?s a steal. (They have a ?recession-proof? menu.) One bit of advice, though: go on Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday night, when there is wonderful live music. So much for the decline of glatt kosher!

I just had my very first ?cheeseburger? at Talia?s! I love burgers yet never thought I would get to experience a cheeseburger, but I was at Talia?s the other night where I usually have the prime rib (which is so amazing I have a hard time trying anything different) I saw on the menu that they offer soy cheese, so I figured I would give it a try. I sure glad I did. They brought out this huge juicy burger topped of with soy cheese? All I can say is that it was AWESOME!!! The burger was thick and juicy and the soy cheese was actually a great addition, and with their always tasty fries it turned out to be one of the best meals I have had in a long time. Just thinking about it makes me hungry J I will defiantly be going back asap.

After Eating at Talia?s and reading some of the negative reviewing from previous posts, I was shocked. I fell in love with the restaurant and my entire dining experience was superb from start to finish. I still find it too good to be true that Talia?s offers some of the best combination values of tasty food for such reasonable prices. I had a steak, mashed potatoes, a tasty beef and bean soup and a soda all for under $40! The atmosphere was so pleasant with live music in the background that I felt like I had a two for one, concert and dinner at the same time! My server was very nice and had a great personality. I could not have asked for a better experience and I highly recommend others go and see for themselves the superior quality of Talia?s!

I could not have asked for a better experience and I highly recommend others go and see for themselves the superior quality of Talia?s!

.

The steaks were mostly fat! The bread was stale. Service dreadful. It took 1/2 hr to get our check after requesting it. THIS PLACE STINKS!!!

Talia?s is the best Glatt Kosher restaurant I have been to in New York! The food is amazing, I usually have a steak when I go but this past weekend I decided to try the chicken skewer with the middle-eastern platter, and I can honestly say I haven?t had hummus, tahini, or baba ganoush that good since my last trip to Israel. I just made my reservations for my family for Shavuot, and I can?t wait!

I had a great dining experience at Talia?s last night. We were a group of eight celebrating my brother?s birthday. We ordered prime rib for two, Thai beef salad, chicken Marsala, lamb shank and tilapia ? all cooked to perfection and very tasty. The service was very professional and attentive. Our waitress, by the name of Angel, was very friendly and very knowable of making mixed drinks such as martinis and mojito. The ambiance of Talias is a perfect spot to throw a birthday party on a budget. Candle lit atmosphere with mellow, light live music together with a recession proof menu ? which has very reasonable prices ? all make Talias a very special kosher restaurant compared to other kosher restaurants in Manhattan. We saw a flyer attached to the prix fixe dinner menu indicating that Talia?s will be open to all meals during Passover 2010 and my Mom convinced my Dad to reserve seats for my family for the first Seder dinner. Do yourself a favor, do not forget to end your meal with chocolate souffl?. It is from heaven!

Pros: One of few steak houses on UWS

Cons: Bad cuts of meat, overpriced

I just moved to the upper Westside and was looking for a good Steakhouse, and a friend of mine recommended Talia??s steakhouse. I sure am glad that I decided to try it, because it couldn??t have been better. The steaks were big and juicy, and very reasonably priced, especially considering they came with a side dish and an appetizer. The atmosphere was beautiful without being pretentious, and the staff was all friendly and knowledgeable. I have my new go to place in the neighborhood, and already have a reservation for next week. Love this place, and look forward to trying the lamb shank next visit. Do yourself a favor and stop in Talia??s first chance you get.

I must say, Talia's has really stepped up their brunch since the last time I went. It had been awhile since I had been to Talia's, I remember not thinking that much of it last time. WOW! something has definitely changed. What other dairy free restaurant can you get big fluffy Belgian waffles with eggs, turkey sausage and home fries. The waffles were to die for! Good job Talia's I will certainly go back for some mimosas and waffles!

I came to Talia's to visit a few friends. As they were half way through their brunch, I only ordered a beer and an an appetizer. I was surprised with how fast the food was served. Moreover, just as I was about to think that my Guinness is taking too long, the bartender brought it and said that he just changed the keg where and it was fresh. I am a big fan of dark beer and I have been to bars where changing the keg takes north of 10 minutes if they ran out of something. I was impressed by how fast he was able to do that and I definitely enjoyed that fresh Guinness very much. Definitely a place I would recommend.

I am a recent college graduate and recently started my accounting job with one of the big four audit companies. I am still very cost conscious when I go out in New York City. When some of my colleagues invited me to go for a dinner with them at Talia's, I was wary at best. I didn't want to miss the opportunity to bond with them, but I did not want to spend too much either. I suppose the recession menu offered at the place saved my worries. I was able to have a great meal with my friends at a very low price. The chicken marsala was one of the best I've had ever, with a great side dish of mashed potatoes. The waitress was always around when me and my friends needed her, and made the evening quite fun. I am sure that I will come again

My wife and I went last night for her birthday. We have been to most of the Kosher steakhouses in and around the city (Prime Girll, Le Marais, Hapisgah, Mabat, Levana, Mike's Bistro, etc.), so we have an expectation when we go to a steakhouse. Talia's calls itself a steakhouse, and charges more than Le Marais, so I was expecting a really good piece of meat, and I was extremely disappointed. The waitress told me the rib eye is the best piece of meat they have, so I ordered it. The only good thing I can say about it is that they cooked it to the doneness that I requested. Other than that, it was the same quality as any steak I can buy in grocery store. It was definitely not prime grade, nor was it aged. There were some thick strips of fat running through it - this was way more than marbeling. For $38 I expect a much better steak. \nMy wife ordered the Chicken Marsala, and she immediately sent it back. It just tasted funny. She loves chicken marsala, and has had it in many different restaurants, but it was never this bad. To be fair the people sitting next to us had it and they said it was OK. \nMy wife then ordered the Tilapia, and was very unimpressed with it as well. It tasted way too fishy, and had almost no seasoning.\nThe rolls they put on the table tasted like they came out of a bag and were thrown in the oven. \nThe only good thing we had was the chicken vegetable soup. It was actually homemade and had real chicken in it.\nOverall Talia's is an extreme letdown, and even the people next to us said they were expecting much more. I would definitely not go there again.

I was never more disappointed in a restaurant. I called two weeks in advance to reserve a table of 25 to celebrate a Birthday. The pre fix dinner sounded great $25 salad, entree, sides and soda. I guess you get what you pay for. I had to ask 6 times for water to be on the table. The food finally arrived 2.5 hours later however only half the table got their food the other half never received an entree!! It just never arrived. \r\n6 people in the party left out of hunger! I was so embarassed no one at the restaurant seem to care. Good thing they left because the food was so gross no one could eat it. I mean nasty and disgusting! Then when I asked for the Manager one of the Waitors yelled at me. Then they had the nerve to charge $75 for a cake that was full of margin. I would never come back. Save your money and get a slice of pizza.. I can not believe how awful it was. I was so bad I had to warn people!! .\r\n

Cons: Awful Service, Bad food, and Disorganized

I spent both Thanksgiving and New Year's eve at Talia's. Both occasions I had a great time!!! The food they have is delicious - the most tender, mouth-watering steak ever!!! Soft music (including a live band!), candle-lit ambiance, warm and cozy - beautifully contrasting with the darkness and chill outside...And the staff is absolutely great and extremely friendly. The owner himself remembered me and treated our table to their signature chocolate soufflee -yummm... delicious chocolaty delight...I hope my boyfriend is going to surprise me with a romantic Valentine's' dinner at Talia's as well...

It's a great little place, and reasonably priced considering the quality of food. They were packed and the wait was long, but the manager entertained us and served us free drinks during the wait. The food was delicious.

Last week my boss decided to pick Talia?s as the spot for our corporate party. We were a group of about forty. When we arrived to Talia?s the table for our group was well prepared with candles on each table. The ambience was very warm due to the dimly lit space. We had a four-course Prix Fix menu; Soup, Appetizer, Main dish and Dessert. Each course was from heaven. I had the potato leak soup and it was unbelievably tasty. The steak was very tender and juicy. Even the sushi was very special and well prepared. The selection of wines is very diversified; from France, Australia, California, Peru and Israel. I had a glass of Chateau Valandraud 2000 - Bordeaux and it was truly superb! The servers were very friendly and polite. Although we were a group of forty we received a very speedy service. Some of my colleagues were able to take pictures and to mingle comfortably. Moreover, we really enjoyed the live music of mellow, soft rock-n-roll. I guess my friend and I will ask our boss to have the next corporate party at Talia?s Steakhouse. At least, on my next date I am sure I am going to spend a great dinner at Talia?s.

Yesterday, my parents had their anniversary, so we all went to celebrate at Talia's Steakhouse. Half an hour after we sat down the live band started playing, which was a pleasant surprise. Also, it's amazing how Talia's combines that coziness of a family-owned restaurant with the high-quality food and service of an upscale place. We ordered a bottle of the semi-sweet Barbera D'Alba red wine, which the waiter recommended, and we were particularly satisfied with that. The waiter was a very nice young man, who did his best to assist us. The food we ordered included a butcher's cut, a prime ribe for two and a filet, and they were all delicious and cooked right. It's nice to see the variety of side dishes that come in addition to our food. We could choose between six or seven items :) In spite of the abundant portions, we shared an apple tarte and a chocolate soufle for dessert. My parents said they did not imagine thair anniversary any better than that!

Well the food at this restaurant is really delicious. Being worth the money is another story. Now I don't mind spending a few bucks on a nice dinner, but if I'm spending money I expect to be treated pretty well. Our order was screwed up a few times. And it took asking 4 people before we even got some bread. Our soup also never came. I hear good things about the restaurant, but this was not the night for us.

I went to talias with some friends and family last night and it was awsome. I coulnt believe how much we enjoyed ourselves. I was pleasantly surprised to see a musician playing clasic rock on his guitar. He was really good. It was just so nice to sit in a nice atmosphere, great ambiance and wonderfull music. I ordered some drinks from thier full bar and looked at the menu. The cajun spiced beef tips where delicous.> the Rib Eye my wife ordered was juicy and tender and cooked medium rare as she requested. I told all my friends about it when I got home. I highly recomend trying this place out. he music, food..everything!

I was delighted to be able to drink wine while out and about. I went to a fundraiser held here. I had several different types of wine and they were all delicious. This restaurant has sidewalk seating so we enjoyed our drinks under the stars (or whatever stars you can see while in the middle of NYC!). While it was crowded and the staff didnt seem to know what to do with so many people, the service was pretty good under the conditions. I look forward to going back and trying out the steak!
