4 Stars: A NY institution (by emily k.)

You can't visit NY or live in NY without recognizing the value of Bllomingdale's. Though it is not even my favorite Department store in the city (Sak's is), I still recognize that this place is a New York institution, and that it tends to have better sales than any of the other department stores. This is a place I have enjoyed visiting since I was a child. And as I get older, I can browse less, and shop more.

4 Stars: Definitely worth the trip (by Eileen G.)

This store is great. The clothes are nice and are high quality and fashionable. Sometimes they have some great sales and you can get some really nice things. The attendants are a little bit snobby but they warm up to you if you start spending cash. The prices regularly are outrageously expensive. They also do not have a lot of larger sizes.

5 Stars: Big Brown Bags (by David B.)

You'll see plenty of Big Brown Bags walking around the Upper East Side of Manhattan thanks to Bloomingdales. This is the department store of choice for many of the city's visitors and locals.

5 Stars: No other store compares (by Barbara F.)

Bloomigndales on Lexington Ave is the most incredible store imaginable. I've spent endless hours just roaming around each floor in awe at the merchandise on display..From the high end top expensive brands to some of the more reasonably priced items there is something for everyone at this premire location...

One of my favorite things to do is go to the market they have on the lower level...Everything is so fresh and tasty and mouthwateringly displayed. I've never left without some delicous goody tucked away in my shopping bag

PROS: Fantastic array of merchandise
CONS: can be very crowded on Saturdays

5 Stars: Can't Miss (by Joan R.)

You can't shop in NYC and not stop in Bloomies. It is a requirement. They have a beautiful jewelry department - more bling than you can imagine. They also have a well stocked perfume selection - be careful you're bound to be spritzed. Their clothing is fabulous and their housewears are very classy. That about sums up Bloomies - class at it's best. Of course you'll pay for all of that class but you wouldn't have expected otherwise would you???

5 Stars: Great Dept Store (by Susan C.)

Bloomingdales is famous for a reason. The flagship location is the best place to find just about any piece of clothing you could want. They also have frequent sales so check in every now and then and you might find a gem on the clearance rack

1 Stars: Prejudice workers.. (by Jackie V.)

Well, although there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the store itself, the workers are not very nice. I had a bad experience while there. I was ready to buy 3 specific pairs of shoes, but when I ASKED (yeah, can you believe no one actually came up to me?, I had to ASK) the salesperson gave me the run around. They just went ahead and attended other people. Note: everyone else at the store was Anglo. Not only did they lose good business, but everyone will positively know about this!

5 Stars: THE Best Department Store in NYC (by Patrice E.)

Open since 1879 (yeah can you believe it) this store is always a madhouse on the ground floor and almost impossible to walk through the huge perfume department without getting spritzed so Watch OUt! The upper floors are more sedate and staffed with responsible help. Shoe Dept is also packed so beware. The store's Victorian/Art Deco bulding is an icon. Open M-Fri 10am-8:30pm and Sat 10am-7pm and Sun 11am-7pm. Saturday is always the wost I have seen but great for people watching! Near 59th street
