This place was amazing, my boyfriend and I went to celebrate our first 1 year together. The waiters placed us in the garden. The lighting, the atmosphere, the foods and drinks...it was so romantic. The food was delicious. The service was great. They always made sure everything was okay and they knew when we needed some time alone.

After my first time dining at FADA I had a very good experience. The food was delicious for the price and the desserts were killer. The wait staff was friendly and ultra accommodating for all needs, plus a lot of them have been working for a while and conversational french can be heard in the back. All in all FADA was pretty cool.

I celebrated my birthday with my family here, only to wish I'd discovered this restaurant earlier. We shared a variety of items "family style" and found each and everyone exquisite. The atmosphere is extremely cute, charming and romantic. FADA has quickly become one of my favorite restaurants in NY!

This place is one of the top restaurant in the city, my opinion. I had diner last week with friends here and we had great time. The food is great and so delicious. I had nothing to complain about this restaurant. I think its price is high, but if you go as a dating couple, then your man is the one, whose knows how to treat a lady.

So I went to Fada last night for a friend's birthday celebration (and by celebration I mean there were only 4 of us) but we went there to try the Bouillabaisse which as some of you might know is a traditional Provenal fish stew originating from the port city of Marseille. You have to order it a day ahead and they'll cook it for you for a whole day.

We first got the fish soup and that was good and tasty, even though the garlic spread they brought with the toasted breads left all of us feeling a bit nauseous. (it was too heavy and creamy)

Then came the main entry, with 5 different kinds of fish, mussels, red snapper, lobster and few other kinds.

Now, I grew up in a country where I could eat fresh fish within 10 minutes of being caught so I have to admit I am very spoiled when it comes to the quality of fish. In all of new york, I still haven't found the fish I'd like to on a daily basis have and I've tried many upscale restaurants. It's just hardly ever fresh.. but I've had better luck with French restaurants because the few French places I've been, I felt like, spent time and money picking their meat and fish and I was usually left satisfied.

Now this place is I guess known for their specialty of Bouillabaisse and the broth that the fish was served in was tasteless. They hadn't salted the fish at all and the red snapper had turned a faded salmon color.. it was far from red, it was chewy and tasteless. The lobster was also chewy and again the broth it came in was just disappointing. It had no spices, no salt and just no taste in general. I am not sure how else to describe it.

When I asked the server the history of the dish she said "oh I have no idea.. that's a good question" she did later admit it was her first week there or whatever, but don't they train the staff anymore?

I asked for the manager who could not be found, I checked their website for contact info and couldn't find an email so here I am leaving this review.

Our bill was around 200 which I think is pretty pricey for less than mediocre French food. Fada, I hope you'll read this and talk to the chef about salting the food and adding some taste to it! We won't be back..

I love this place, have become a regular and would recommend to everyone. The cheese plate is killer. OK, here is one thing that French make better than us, Tarte Tartin, I tried theirs and what a taste. Can't miss with this place.

Pros: waitstaff, quirky silverware

Cons: seriously... the bathrooms smell like a dive bar in the Lower East Side!!!

Went here with my girlfriend on tuesday night and had the moules frites and cheese plate!! We sat in an empty restaraunt fully staffed for over two hours. This place used to be special but seems to have shipped its charm back to the french countryside. Service was fine but talk about some sandy mussels. we returned the mussels which were taken off the bill fortunately thanks to the kind waitress. The cheese plate on the other hand was what we think kept us up all night in the bathroom. It took almost three days for the two of us to get over feeling ill and upon talking to the manager after the situation, we were told to come in and try the cheese again and if we dont like it then we wouldnt have to pay for it. No Thanks!

atmosphere is very romantic and fills your appetite for French cuisine. I haven't been to France, but I imagine Fada's is the closest I can get.
I highly recommend the Moules Frites. It was so good I wanted to drink the sauce

I've been to this place with friends twice; once on a week night and another time on a Friday evening. Both times, this place was great. I feel like keeping this place a secret - I want it just for myself! Fada is friendly and busy without being uncomfortably noisy. You can chat with your friends at the table without screaming - a rarity in New York. The menu offers a nice selection of dishes on top of the day's specials. Our food was delicious, from appetizers to desserts. Service is prompt and friendly. The wine list is superb! Places like this one make me feel hopeful that, in the often rude, loud, and low-quality restaurant scene in NY, there are exceptional eating spots like this one!

Love the decor. The service is fantastic, only thing is they only accept AMEX. The food is fabulous! I had the onion soup which was so cheesy. Then for the main course, the steack medium rare, simply perfect. To top it all off we sat in the garden on a nice breezy evening. Wonderful experience!

Never have i been so disgusted with a restaraunt. I went in for brunch with my fiance and her family and upon taking my first drink of water I noticed a crunch... Low and behold, a live insect is in my mouth... Of course it was a ROOCH.... This place should be closed down ASAP. Looks like the place hasn't been cleaned in years...Good service will not keep me coming back...Glad there are other French places to try in the neighborhood.

We liked this place, so we went there for New Years Eve at $75 Price fixed. We were seated right away. We started the meal with no napkins, and with tea spoons for the soup. The soup was weak in flavor, the main courses and deserts were great. Our Waitress promptly handled any problem, and was very attentive and friendly. We went out happy and smoked outside, when I realized I forgot something inside. I run in with my lighted cigarette to pick it up, and had an agitated barman running after me telling me rather laud that there is no smoking in the restaurant. He was right of course, but I thought he was a bit rude for New Years Eve. He could have offered to bring my stuff out, or take my cigarette. It was average for New Years Eve dinner and price, but for regular night out, they have good food and average service.

This restaurant looks nice on the outside and inside. This is a place where you look around & everyone is happy to be there. The food is excellent, the wine list is varied with many decent bottles in the $30 range, the decor is relaxed and warm and I think you?d be hard pressed to find a better run restaurant in Brooklyn.

Our first time in Williamsburg. We took our niece who was visiting from abroad to discover Williamsburg with us. Since we didn't have any idea where to go and have dinner, I did some research on this site and others and decided to go to Fada. The garden was relaxing. Only thing was there were some cigarette butts in the planters that were disgusting to look at, especially when you're eating. We had wine, appetizers and I ordered rare grilled tuna for a main course. It came well done. They sure know how to ruin tuna. The service was okay, the waiter kept checking on us until the tuna came. He must have known there was something wrong coz he never came back to ask how the food was. Instead of making a big fuss, I decided to just eat it. One thing for sure is we won't be back and won't recommend it to anyone. Quite a disappointment after all the good reviews.

I wanted to find a really nice place to go for brunch today, even ventured on the shuttle bus to get there, I even read all the reviews on this site so that I knew what i was getting into, but apparently I am the only person that had a horrible experience at Fada. I have been to France and I felt no real authenticity there. The waitress took forever to give us menus then screwed up our drink order. My friend said iced coffee and i clearly stated hot normal coffee, exactly in fact. she brought two iced coffee and never brought milk or sugar for my friend. The food came out really quickly, but was really surprised by how cold it was! Egg's Benedict does not taste good cold! The potatoes were over seasoned and cold. The greens which someone called amazing would have too much dressing in one bite and be incredibly bland in the next. I asked for more coffee and never got it until I asked another server to get it. Through all of this I was perfectly nice, I work in the service industry, I understand bad days, but I caught the waitress rolling her eyes at me! I will never go back and would never reccomend this place to anyone!

This is by far my favorite restaurant in New York. Must try the Mussels Du Jour, my favorite on the menu and can be a great app or entree. I've never had a bad meal here. The ravioli are to die for as well as the sea bass when they have it on the menu. The menu changes daily so you can always come back and try something new. And don't forget desert! The warm chocolate cake will melt in your mouth!

I came here on a Sunday afternoon and had a really nice brunch w/ my family. The food is a good value ($10.95 for an entree w/ OJ + tea/coffee or you can order a single item w/out the drinks included) and the service is friendly. They also have a small garden area out back which is a nice perk now that the weather is good.

Pros: what my party ate + enjoyed: quiche, chicken crepe, poached eggs & salmon

Cons: this is barely a con but: mixed + matched silverware, which i think is cute, but some people might not like

Went here for my birthday and had a great time and a great meal. It was very cozy and rustic. I had the fish special which was 2 different fishes in a lobster broth...soooooo good. The fries were done perfectly. My boyfriend had the grouper which he loved. We will definitely be back.

I really like this cute little french bistro so much it's become and addiction. I eat there when ever I'm in Williamsburg - which is often. I love the Salad Nicoise it's the best around. I haven't been there for brunch yet but, I am looking forward to doing that now that the weather is getting better. The staff is nice and inviting - not overly friendly, but efficient and up to the task.

I was searching for good restaurants at my boyfriend s neighbourhood, I wanted to stay in wiliamsburg area and still be romantic &have good food. no rush to city! as soon as we entered, we felt like home. suprising enough we found a table right away on a saturday night, enjoyed the live jazz music. the crowd was sophisticated. I loved the onion soup, and my boyfriend was digging the lamb shank. although I m a vegeterian, I could enjoy their veggie selection for a change! this is the killing part, please please try their warm chocolate cake if you have chocolate cravings like I do...maaan, it is crazy!
I wasn't the first among my friends who tried fada, they told me to go there for brunch at their enclosed back garden, which is supposed to be very good. I will definetely go back again. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!

The ambience was nothing of the mind-blowing sort, because I didn't really get a good sense of it (usually one senses the ambience of a place, good or bad, upon walking in). The service was abominable -- perhaps we walked in during the last hour of our overworked server's long shift, or she knew something about my date that I didn't (it was my first time there). The food was absolutely nothing to rave about: I'm a big ratatouile fan, but what they served was hardly close to delicious. The blueberry cheesecake was commendable for effort, but again I've had plenty better. I expected a lot more for the price we ended up paying. The only plus was the outdoor seating in the small backyard, but that's always a plus anywhere you go.

The food is quite good here, but the service leaves something to be desired. We went a few times last spring and one of us always ordered the salmon- delicious- but they changed the menu and nothing else was so great that we had to keep going back. I tried the steamed fish once and could barely choke it down. They try too hard with the mussels du jour- it might be better to have classic mussels in white wine/lemon/garlic sauce. I had that once after pleading with the waitress, who was so afraid to ask the chef you'd think she was asking him to sell his firstborn down the river- not a good sign. It was very good but for some reason we just don't go to this place a lot- something about it is not friendly.

Pros: Reliable bistro fare

i'm so glad someone has finally opened a restaurant in this space and a stylish one that isn't asian! fada is a welcome addition to williamsburg - just what the hood needed. the food was great but the kitchen was sending out a faint smell of burnt oil and slowly smoking up the dining room, this can/must be fixed. also the waitstaff could be dressed up a bit, sweats and a bandanna don't cut it for a french bistro especially when you're dropping $75/for two. even jeans and a T wud be better. i would definately recommend it to anyone who lives nearby and likes french bistro's.

I agree with the editorial review - when Fada first opened, it was dissapointing. The food wasnt that great and the service blew. But they really have seemed to get it together (maybe they read the review?) - the food is great and the service is much quicker and pleasant. They've also opened up the back patio - its fantastic on a warm summer night. I say give it a second chance if you are in the neighborhood.

Every neighborhood needs a French Bistro, and Williamsburg finally has theirs and a great one at that. Fada is a classicly designed bistro with the prerequisite tea-stained walls, zinc bar, banquettes and rickity wooden tables. The food is equally classic and well executed not to mention reasonably priced. On a recent evening 3 of us had a very tasty Steak Frites ($15), a slightly dry buy very good Cassolette, a more modern Ahi Tuna, a side of Rattatoille, a salad, a bottle of red wine desert and coffee all for $100. Service was friendly and everything was well done. Lucky neighbors!

Pros: Reasonably Priced

Cons: It's not in my 'hood!

This cozy french bistro is just what Williamsburg needs. After only one visit to Fada, I feel as though I've been there hundreds of times. The service was very attentive and friendly without being invasive. The barstaff knowledgeable and cute to boot. The olive spread served gratis with tasty bread was a perfect teaser for a lovely meal. Best of luck in the coming years - I'll be back a lot.
