You can't go wrong with iHop. You might do better in a good well established Diner for breakfast, but when in a new town, as we were visiting Albany for the weekend, it's nice to fall back on a sure thing brand name. It was a recent Sunday, 12/11/2011, about 12noon-ish, so we were hitting the thick of the classic Sunday family rush. It took about a half hour for our six to be seated - I was ready to bolt and settle for an Egg McMuffin, but I'm glad I held out because the trademark iHop pancakes were flawless as usual! I tried a spinach/tomato omelet that I thought was on the "light and fit" menu, but I think they gave me the regular one because it was huge and oozing with cheese. Oh, well, the calories won that day. I-Hop does tend to put a light brown crust on their omelets and hash browns. No one can make eggs as perfect as we can for ourselves, so you take the compromise when out and about.

That was a $10 entree just for me, and there were four adults and two six year olds with juices all around. I guess I shouldn't have been jolted by the $75 bill, but overall it was a nice cap off to an enjoyable family getaway weekend.
