BEWARE!!!! STAY AWAY...IT"S NOT WORTH THE UNPROFESSIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!

My wife and I purchased a bed and ordered two night stands from Saugerties Furniture Mart. The bed was in stock and we were able to return the following day and pick it up. The night stands had to be ordered. We were told by the owner, Russell that he anticipated it taking up to 4 months to get these in. We were told not to expect them until January 10. In mid December I called Russell just to check on the progress. He said, "I told you not to expect it until 4 months or January 10th". I asked him if he would check on the order just to make sure it was still on track for January 10th. He said it wouldn't matter because they always lied and would promise by an earlier date. I asked if I could call again just to make sure it would be there. He said no. On January 15th I called Russell as I had not heard anything. He shared with me that he had just called the company and had found out that they had had serious financial issues over the past few months, but that they were back on track and would be getting orders out again. He said that they should be completing our order by January 24 and shipping it at that point. He asked me if I wanted to cancel the order. I said that I guess we will wait and see what they can do. Meanwhile my wife and I spoke about it and started looking on line. We found what we believe will be a great set of nightstands for less than half the price of Saugerties made from solid wood as well. We went ahead and ordered them. That evening when I returned home there was a message from Russell that he had received a call from the furniture company that they were ready to send out the tables that week. I returned home late that evening. The nest morning I put a call into Saugerties to let Russell know we had changed our mind and were going with a different set of table.

I received a message on my answering machine from Russell stating that I must call him back by 6pm that evening if I wanted to receive my deposit back from the order of the night tables.

When I returned his call, Russell was as unprofessional a person as I have met in my 54 years. He said that before he would take my credit card information to return the deposit "You will wait until I am through with you" He proceeded to curse at me holding me hostage if I wanted my 200.00 back. When I started to share with him that had he called the company when I had asked in December, we may have decided based on the information about the company to get a different set, he refused to take any responsibility. When I became frustrated with the way he was treating me I said "I refuse to accept your disrespectful, unprofessional manner", he said he didn't care and if I wanted my money back I would have to listen to him. I told him he really needed some training in customer service, he told me he had been in business for over 60 years.

I will never return to Saugerties Furniture Mart for any reason. I hope that others heed my warning and do not support such unprofessional behavior.
