I recently moved back to Bay Ridge after being away for a year. I used to order food from Nouvelle and thought it was great sushi, very fresh and tasty. I recently ordered their food again and was very disappointing. The fish was not fresh. It had a very very fishy odor like it was left out in the hot sun all day and spoiled. I would not recommend going to this restaurant again.

I do recommend this restaurant to everyone who likes great asian food. However, i also recommend to eat a little bit before you come to this restaurant as the portions are very small. I had Pad Tai and Shrimp Dumpling, both of which were very delicious....The poprtions were so small that when my wife and I left the restaurant i was still hungry (and we are not one of those people who like to pig out)......Service was good and the place is very modern.

I went to this restaurant last night with my boyfriend since it was participating in brooklyn restaurant week. The service was great, the sushi was fresh and the speciality cocktails were delicious ( try the voodoo juice and the mango mai tai). My boyfriend doesn't care to much for asian food and he was licking his fingers afterwards ( try the Mango Chicken) you won't regret it.

The waiter was friendly and was open to answering questions about the food, its origin and the chef. The atmosphere was very romantic.

The food is kind of pricey but if you really want good food.. you got to pay for it.

Please go you won't regret it..

First let me start by saying that I never write a review but I just had to let the public know what a bad experience I had there.
Last night my wife and I went there to try a new place, we ordered on of there special rolls, and when my wife bit into the roll she stabbed herself in the mouth with large piece of shell that was not taken out of the food. I usually can understand that these things can happen but when I told the waiter he had an attitude and said oh we will make you another one. I kindly told him that we did not want another one just the check. can you believe that the freaking roll was on the bill I had to ask them to take it off. WTF? I personally will never go there again the worst place I don't expect them to stay in business for long. Also the service was terrible

Don't go to this place. I have a big stomach ache from eating there last night. First of all, I expected more asian dishes to choose from since it was supposed to be an Asian fusion place. But the only choices were either Japanese or Thai. So we ordered their sushi, figured that you can't go wrong by ordering their specialty roll, but I guessed wrong. The fish was not fresh. Honestly, I won't be surprised if it was more than a couple of days old. Then, I bit into a giant piece of king crab shell that was inside the sushi. My god, if that wasn't enough. The rice was hard and the other sashimi pieces were dry and discolored. And what they advertised as special sauce on their menu tasted like pre-packaged sauces from a can. I've had better sushi from a cafeteria. The food was overpriced too, $15 for a specialty roll.

As for the the service, it was just as bad as the food. The waiter kept knocking over my glass when he almost poured the sake on the floor. It was super slow, even though it wasn't busy in the place at all.

I loved the food here and would go back, but service was slow. The atmosphere is really not my scene but I knew that going in, so can't blame the restaturant on that front. Sushi was the freshest I've had in Bay Ridge, beef negimaki appetizer was very good and the thai soup was excellent.

Twenty two (22) of my friends and I went to Nouvelle for my birthday and it was a wonderful experience. As it was so many of us the restaurant reserved the lower level for my party. We dealt with Wilson and Matt and their service was excellent. The food was on par with the service. I am not a sushi lover, actually I try to stay away from it, but after having the sushi (specifically the king lobster rolls) at this place I went back. I also tried two of the Thai dishes ( Panang Curry and Kwaytio Kee Mao) and it was also superb. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to have a delicious Sushi / Thai dinner and experience very pleasant service. Great friends, great food, great place, great service priceless. Dinner for 22 people under $700, worth every penny!

I've gone to Nouvelle five or six times going back over the past two years. It has always been a great experience. For the first time, we tried the outdoor dining, nothing special outside, it doesn't reflect the setting established on the interior. The sushi is better than average and the rolls while not "traditional" gives an interesting spin on standard sushi rolls. Not so much for sushi traditionalists, but good for those wanting a great dinner with good service. The mixed drinks are also delicious there too.

Cons: OUtdoor seating doesn't compare to the indoor seating.

nice roll creativity, along with plenty fusion, outside patio has an interesting view, a line of wet clothes drying from a neighboring building's window hehe, ok interior but nothing extravagant.

the restaurant doesn't stand out among other sushi places on 3rd ave, but you may wanna try some of the thai dishes except for the pad thai which seems to come off the kids menu(the portion).

Nobu quality fish (and overall menu) at less than half the price. Nouvelle is far better than its closest competition for high quality sashimi in Brooklyn, Blue Ribbon. My personnel favorites are the Yellow Tail jalapeno; Rock Shrimp Tempura; Tuna Pizza; Pink Panther roll; and Miso Black Cod. Also go for the calamari and the 3 Star Sashimi. Great drinks, especially the Key Lime Pie martini. Service could be better, but this place would have lines down the block if it was in Manhattan. I go there several times a month and can't get enough of their food.

Pros: Highest quality sashimi/sushi around, at half of Manhattan prices

.

The food is terrific. Many of the menu items are similar to Nobu, but much less expensive. I enjoy eating at many of the best sushi places in Manhattan and this rivals all of them in the food department. The black miso cod, pink panther roll, and the tuna pizza will definitely make your taste buds sing! The decor is a little to be desired, but could be described as cheap chic. If you want great food and great cocktails (don't miss the key lime pie martini), this is the place for you. If you like the food at Nobu, but not the prices then you should definitely try it!

This place is a joke! No way, this place is top 10 Sushi in NYC. Fraudulent VOTING by owners. It's not even a Japanese Restaurant. It's one of those Combo restaurants that aren't good at one thing, let alone 2.Terrible Quality that couldn't match the the weakest Manhattan restaurant. No creative dishes and lack of knowledge by the Staff, told me that they weren't even Japanese. Just another low budget, Chinese/Korean owned Japanese restaurant in Brooklyn. If this is Top 10 and it's struggling in Bayridge, what does that tell you about Citysearch's ranking? All Fraud Votes!

i was generous enough to rate this place a 1...but i absolutely hated this place and i dont understand why people either love it or like it. the food wasnt ALL that awesome compared to other places for the same price! theres are tons of restaurants, with the same scenary that are 100 percent better than this crappy place. the food is just unbelievably bad. FYI, you'll find better food anywhere else than to spent your time eating at this place! i acutally trusted the reviews so i'm just being honest myself and sharing my opinion! once i heard it was a french asian fusion place, i was erie about it cuz asian fusion restaurants are just plain bad!...i highly recommend you DON'T eat at NOUVELLE!

My family and I recently came here for a small birthday celebration and it was amazing! The food was delicious, the cocktails weren't weak and the decor is breathtaking! I've been to many asian fusion restaurants but this one is definately the place to go. I was surprised that it wasn't packed though but it may have a lot to do with their location...if this place was in the village they would be packed every night. We ordered a very healthy amount of food and nothing disappointed although we wished each dish was a wee bit larger. I'll definately be back to do mini celebrations here.

Aside from having three fun and tasteful atmospheres, the service here is great. The waiters really seem to care about what I want and the food is just AMAZING. The Mojitos are the best I've had!! I went there just last week with three of my friends and we had a GREAT time! Mission 05 is definately the appetizer to get! And if it is open, sit at the Patio, its so beautiful and traditional! This is definately the place to be in all of Bay Ridge!!!

What a great spot. Very trendy decor. Sushi is amazingly fresh and creative. Interesting menu and also great cocktail selection. Discovered this place by accident and I sure will be back. Was in BayRidge and remembered going for sushi at Bamboo which used to be there before, but Nouvelle is 10 times better. Its very hard to find a great Asian-Fusion place that is easy on a wallet. Google nouvellerestaurant for their site and menu.
The only downside is that waiters appear to be not very experienced. Hopefully that will improve.

Bamboo is AWESOME! Don't be fooled by the outside of this place... the inside decor is tasteful and not tacky or lacking and the staff is great. My boyfriend and I eat here EVERY week, we just can't get enough of the food. The special rolls are amazing - the snow white roll melts in your mouth. If you're not in the mood for sushi, have one of their flavorful thai dishes. Finally!! Bay Ridge is getting hip to Manhattan's Asian-fusion fad... except with one BIG difference and that is $$... Bamboo is affordable food with great ambiance without the manhattan price tag. Also check out the mixed drinks -- the selection is quite imaginative. I would absolutely recommend going to Bamboo.

This sushi is amazing ! The Sushi here is Awesome ! Definitely worth the trip! Try the tuna lovers roll its amazing, it seems to melt in your mouth. The Bamboo roll is also amazing. I took my friend who has hardly even seen sushi before let alone eaten it & he loved it ! He is now addicted thanks to Bamboo ! The lounge area downstairs is nicer to eat, with booths & dim lighting, however they should turn off the big screen tv, if i wanted to watch tv whille i ate i would have ordered take out other than that a truly amazing sushi experience.
