The staff at this restaurant was lovely, and the service good, but the style of food is very old-fashioned - and not in a good way. The menu is heavy on what used to be called "Continental Fare" - clams casino, veal dishes, escargot and prime rib. The locavore trend has not yet made it to this part of the world - the height of harvest season but nothing on the menu to reflect the many local farms. I ordered a pasta dish that was billed as being garlic and oil, but that was strangely sweet. I will say that it was served HOT which, was good , and the chicken breasts in it were nicely cooked. The spinach salad that preceeded it was covered in a too sweet dressing as well. I skipped dessert - did have a great, old-school cocktail though. In short - from my one visit I do not undertand the raves. This restaurant is expensive, and I don't think it's worth it.

Lunch or Dinner at the Old Library Restaurant is extraordinary!
From the hostess to the server, bus person, bartender, cook, and owner. They serve up the best food in town!

The Old library is by far the best dining experience one can hanve while in the southern tier of NY state. fabulous menue and service and suprisiingly nto as expensive as you may think. Friday evening happy hour includes free appetizers in the bar area. very good!!!
