La Cocina has set a traditional standard for Mexican cuisine in New York city when it first opened the doors in 1986. You can sit and enjoy your meal at our outdoor café, or step through the large wood framed doors revealing a high ceiling and beautiful décor. There is a long handcrafted, wood framed bar where many a story has been exchanged between friends and strangers alike. A full array of specialty drinks can be had, but most guests in the know will have the signature La Cocina Margarita. Those who opt for it will be seated at specialty designed glass top tables under which they can revel at spicy peppers and dried beans and rice, giving a glimpse of many of the items from scratch used in our secret recipes. We specialize in private parties we have a large private room with a private bar that can accomodate your next function.

The decor is really fun with tons of Mexican artwork scaling the vaulted ceilings and glass-top tables that are filled with colorful items like dried red peppers and black beans. The Chiles Rellenos are delicious, as are the 2-for-1 margaritas on weeknights (which even includes flavored frozen ones). You won't be disappointed. I have been to La Cocina Mexicana many times. While the food is ok, it is totally forgettable. That is ok though, because from Monday through Thursday they have buy one get one free margaritas. Usually I am too buzzed to care that the food is only so-so. The place is clean with a nice decor. I would definitely recommend coming here. The food here really is very good and the people running it are lovely. My favorite food there was actually dessert which was a Mexican wedding cake. Used to be great Mexican food, but the last couple of times have been horrible especially last night. Ordered a chicken burrito and was served chicken fajita. When I told the waiter this was not what I ordered. He said it would be easier if I just kept the faita and he would only charge me for the price of the burrito. I said no that I ordered a burrito because that is what I wanted. When the burrito finally arrived, my friends had all ready eaten their meals by now, the burrito was filled with rice and two small chunks of chicken. Again the waiter was useless and I figured I cut my losses and just get out of this place and get a slice of pizza next door. This used to be a great place, but I won't be going back any time soon. We were there for about 3 hrs and never felt rushed. The food is great, the drinks are great and most of all the staff is very friendly and attentive. The dcor and music make it a very cozy and chill spot. Its not to loud and not to quiet. La Cocina is a high quality Mexican restaurant at a reasonable price. We had a very good experience at LaCocina on last saturday night, perfect margaritas with amazing fajitas,and the end super good cheese cake with white chocolate wow, yammi... They had this Mariachi who was very funny guy, and great personality. We were 12 of us downstairs and first time for us, and we will return there very soon. Thanks and see you later..... The 2 for 1 drinks are something that i took full advantage of. I also had the chicken fajitas which were very tasty. All in all this was a great expierence and perfect place to go for an early dinner. Last time we went there, my husband got his dish and finished it. I still did not get mine and waited for forty minutes even they were not busy.
