.

i recently dined at Ayhans fish kebab on sunrise highway, rockville center. i was very disappointed at the meal. i ordered the chilean sea bass, in which i am quite familiar with as i eat that fish quite often. the fish i received was quite fishy tasting and did not look or taste at all like chilean sea bass. i don't think it was chilean sea bass and i was charged a lot of money for that dish. the waitress was fair at best. she did not offer any of their menu specials and i had to ask her for them. i would not return to that location to dine.

While staying on Long Island one night we decided to have a good Greek meal so off this restaurant we went

Greeted at the door in a friendly manner we were seated immediately . We decided to order appetizers first and ordered the Cold Sampler appetizer platterWith this you get your choice of 3 out of 6 varieties of dip/salad type foods offeredWe choose the Hummus, Babaganoush and the Tabouli salad, all were delicious and just the way I like them. Served with warm Pita bread it was a perfect beginning to this wonderful meal, the first of my around the world week of eating. As an addition, I ordered the Spinach and Feta Pie just because it sounded so good and I used to prepare this little delicacy with an old Greek friend of mine, spending the whole day up to my elbows in Phyllo dough, so I always like to compare them to that recipeYes, they stood up to the comparison. The sampler was $6.95, the Spinach Pie, $3.95.. There are 20 appetizers on the menu all ranging in price from $3.95 to $7.50 for Crab cakes so Im sure there is something for everyone to begin your meal.

Funny thing, they all ordered Lamb dishes from the varied selections offered Hubby had a Lamb Shank special, for $14.95, while our friends both had the Lamb-kebab for $15.95 and were raving about how good it was. The lamb on both these dishes was grilled perfectly as well as the vegetables without being over or undercooked. These platters came with Greek salad, peas and Rice Pilaf and came served with a Garlicky Yogurt as well as a Tomato-Onion Sauce...Both sauces were also very good and nicely spiced, you could really taste how fresh they were.

All in all we throughly enjoyed our meal at Ayhans and would go back again without a doubt

PROS: Food was delicious, service fast and friendly
CONS: none
