Heights cafe use to be good years ago not anymore, there have been vast changes in terms of service and food quality. My burger and fries were over cooked and burned.\r
The short waitress who is there Sat, sun and Mon nights is a wreck

If it wasn't for the bar don't think heights cafe would have stayed open this long. I had alot of different things with each visit and sometimes it makes me feel like how could I travel from crown heights just to hang here even though I

I used to love this place ( about 15 years ago ) but now, not so much - the food is still basically good. The service is hit or miss. But there really aren't any other diners in the heights.

Pretty good food, even though some of the best dishes are no longer available. Staff is always pleasant and pretty efficient, and the staff that have been there for some years are very sweet and lovely. Very pricey, and if you are ordering a drink during the later part of the evening, the mixed soda drinks may often be flat. Very good brunch with a delicious Eggs Benedict. A nice place with relaxing decor for a pleasant night out. Amex is the only credit card accepted.

Went there for the first time when I was in brooklyn had a lobster bisque soup, it had too much garlic and the service was terrible. The decor was nice but I wouldn't go there again, very uncomfortable seating too.

I have lived in Brooklyn for almost a year now and Heights Cafe is a local haunt for me and my boyfriend. We like to just sit at the bar, but occasionally we will take a table. I am not quite sure why people say that the service is horrible, either. Our servers tend to be attentive, but also not stalking us, which is good. I have in fact never had a problem with the service there. The management has always been present and friendly as well. Add good American food to the list and its easy to see why locals hang out there so often. The only drawback is that they don't take visa cards. Hate walking to the ATM to pay.

With a terrific location and a ton of outdoor seating, this place should be great. Unfortunately, it's consistently boring and overpriced fare has chased me away. The veggie burger is actually awful, and the service is often distracted. Just stop here for a drink - eat elsewhere.

I'm new to the area and in wandering the neighborhood came across Heights Cafe. I was genuinely surprised by the kind of food and atmosphere that this place provides. Surprised in a good way though. The menu is fantastic a wide range of choices and it was all great. Really great, we definitely got what we paid for. It was a really quiet place to sit outside and enjoy the evening. The service was fantastic, and the managers were both present and helping out the staff. This is not something I have seen in most restaurants. Needless to say we had a great experience and went back for Saturday brunch, which was just as good, but not as crowded as the typical Sunday brunch. It's the kind of place you want to go and spend your afternoon watching people, enjoying good food and great service. I would reccomend it to anyone.

I met a few friends at heights cafe last week. We sat on the patio, a lovely atmosphere overlooking montague street. Not only was the service prompt but also friendly. I was recommended by one of my friends to have the mozzarella sandwich. For someone who is not an eggplant fan I was shocked at how delicious it was. I will definatley be going back soon.

It took at least 5 minutes for us to be seen and receive menus, versus the immediate service most restaurants offer today.

3 different people attempted to take our order. There was mighty confusion amongst the staff.

I noticed there were at least 10 staff members walking around struggling to find something to do. One hispanic guy decided to start sweeping the floors with his big cleaning supplies, that is a BIG NO NO. You clean AFTER the restaurant is closed, NOT when people are sitting there eating.

Btw, there were a total of 5 customers in the whole place.

We ordered 2 wraps, please note that this was lunch when everything is supposed to run quick and smooth, and after 45 MINUTES of waiting we couldn't take it anymore and simply left.

2 of the chefs came out of the kitchen and took a break while we were still waiting for the wraps. Laughable, isn't it??

This place is clealy not being managed and we are sure NEVER to be back!

While the location and outdoor seating is great, the service left a bit to be desired. The bartender practically ignored me and my date and then gave refills in the same glass (not just to us, though). I have been to my fair share of bars, and I don't recall the last itme that I wasn't offered a fresh glass for my beverage. My crabcake entree was tasty and so I may go back again--if I'm in the area AND I am in the mood to keep my glass.

The accomidations were horrible, the Staff were rude with an attitude, almost as if they were annoyed the whole time. The Food is Over Priced and not good at all, The service was Horrible, No water, we asked for water and water was given to us with an attitude. This restaurant is on my DO NOT COME BACK LIST.

A nice and cozy place to eat some good American food and greeted by friendly staff. One of the appetizers, the vegetable spring rolls is a MUST...it's excellent in flavor and the sauce it comes with is well seasoned too. The only con I have with this restaurant is they only accept American Express for a credit card. So cash is a definite. However, with the food that good, how can anyone complain?! I will go back :)

Met some friends of mine in BK Heights for after work drinks. Since i usually hang out in NYC it was a nice change! It ws actually a lot easier to get to than i imagined (dont really hang in the outer boroughs that much) We had a great time, the food was exactly what we girls were looking for. Burgers, salads, and strong drinks! The bartender was great and really took care of us. It was a pretty good crowd for thursday which of course made us happy! I definitely am re-thinking Brooklyn as a place to hang out. All in all great time and i definitely recommend it.

I've been going to height's cafe for years and i'm really surprised about some of the reviews on this site so let me set you straight... This place is fabulous!!!! The service is great its like being pampered.. you have a server ...then there's the runner who brings you your food.. your busser who gets you your water and side stuff like extra ketchup .... and then you even have your server's co workers making sure everything is up to par.. what other place does that!?!? no place i've ever been.. i certainly seemed a team effort taking place here... also the food!!!! Delicious!!!! Not only was it good but it was reasonably priced also... and the way its prepared and presented to you you can definitely tell they take their jobs seriously back there... i'd rather wait an extra 10mins and get a dish that is made to perfection than get my food in 5mins and have it served to me like they just threw it on the plate.... thanx but i love to feel that i'm being taken care of and you definitely get that feeling here... I highly recommened this place and quite frankly you really need to try things yourself than take other people's opinions about things to know if you'll truly enjoy them.

Pros: Great service, amazing food, caring management

Cons: only one spot... 84 montague st bklyn ny

Food was very delicious. The waiters seemed a bit rude at times. I really didnt know why. Not just to us either, but also to the couple eating next to our table. Even the guy who fills your glass with water had a chip on his shoulder, slamming the glass on our table a few times that night. To top off the night, the Cafe only accepts cash or American Express only! No Visa, or Mastercards. Forgive me for not noticing that unilluminated tiny American Express sticker on the front door without my magnifying glass on a dark night. Anyway, i had to make a trip to the ATM and back. I, like most people would be, was annoyed by that.

We waited forever and our food came out cold. The server disappeared and we had to wait more to get our check. The food wasn't good. You can definitely do better for your money in this neighborhood.

I went for lunch and just walking in made me feel attractive. lol. The decor and colors are very warm and attractive. I had soup, a sandwich and gellato for dessert and EVERYTHING was very good. You can tell they take their time to prepare and cook the food. The staff was very attentive and friendly. There was a bunch of small kids there when I went but they were pretty much quiet believe it or not. lol.

I will definately be going there for dinner because this place is definately alluring. lol. The prices are nice also.

Another great place to dine in the Heights. This cozy and trendy spot is a great place to meet up with friends either before or after your trek on the Promenade. The night scene is a bit more impressive than the lunch scene, so try to arrive a little later in the evening. The food is what you would expect to find in a trendier cafe - catered more to the hip yuppycrowd than a family of 4-5. Again, a great place to meet up with your friends for some brew or cocktails and an evening bite - just don't forget take a stroll on the promenade afterwards for the real treat. Enjoy!

The food is good, but with so many restaurants in the neighborhood, and of course, manhattan, you can find a more impressive menu for the same value, or less, in a restaurant with better service and ambience. The Heights Cafe has awkward seating, most of the tables extend from a shared bench, destroying any dining intimacy, as you continue to elbow diners next to you The space in general is bit too big to be intimate, and it seems to be overstaffed, as throughout our dinner we had hovering waitstaff, who were either anxious for turnover, or they were bored and didn't know what to do with their time. All in all, distracting from a pleasant meal. If you want charming, high quality dining try Henry's End.

The ambience is warm and welcoming, especially when we came in during a downpour. And the service was very good. But everything else was just ok -- uninspired menu, uninspired food, slightly too expensive considering the previous two things. Nice place for a date, but there are better restaurants in the area.

We live in the neighborhood so we thought we'd give them another chance after uneven experiences before. If you do go there, be prepared to spend a while. It took 45 minutes for us to get our brunch order. Odd considering my brunch turned out to be a nuked hors d'oevre quiche tart on a plate with some wilted/slightly spoiled salad - what a rip-off! To be fair, my husband's cheeseburger was quite good, but the waitress never apologized for the long wait or attempted to explain. A better restaurant might have comped our lemonades, but not here. There are too many other good restaurants in the area to waste another meal or $ here.
