Great location, busy atmosphere,The breakfast is the best. Large portions enough to fill you up. Lunch so much to choose from.I loved the baked chicken and mash potatoes. The prices is a little price high but worth it.

I have only had the privilege of coming here once, and it was to eat breakfast on the way to the airport but I truly wish I could come here again since I have never had a better French Toast in a deli in New York in my life.
I reccomend this place for anyone wishing to spend $7 - $10on breakfast and walk out happy and full.

What can be said about this venerable eating institution that hasn't been said before.. A trip to New York for us wouldn't be complete without a meal or should I gigantic meal at the Stage.
For breakfast the bagels and smoked fish specials are incredible, but then again so is the French toast and the Blintzes..For lunch or dinner I have the hardest time trying to decide between the huge sandwich platters of chopped liver, some of the best to be found anywhere, or one of the Corned beef, or Pastrami, or the Reuban, or, the hot turkey or Roast beef platters that literally fill the large plates to over flowing. As you can tell even now writing this I can't decide what is my favorite..I even love the pickles and pickled tomatoes they bring to your table..Oh and the desserts, oh my just thinking about them makes me hungry..
Then the star power.. Located near the theater district, the Stage has, since it's inception, been a hangout of the stars, pictures of these celebrities are on every wall, and if you are lucky you can catch a star diving into a meal while you are there.
The waitresses and waiters are a trip of their own and can be abrasive or sweet depending on who's table you are at..In either case the service will be fast and the meal a bit expensive but in my humble opinion, worth every penny
PROS: Great sandwiches, desserts to die for
CONS: expensive
