I was here last Friday Evening. I had fun especially the karaoke part, is that you are sure to get that round of applause and because Karaoke is fast becoming a choice for party entertainment. And their food was great!
Everyone who came had such a great time. The staffs at Asia Roma are also very friendly accommodating.
Service was okay (nothing to write home about) the food was pretty good. We did share a ceasar salad it was delicious. I would agree with the other reviewer that it did have a fishy taste....however that is how REAL ceasar dressing is supposed to taste like vs. bottled up and loaded with preservatives. Cozy ambiance, tasty pasta dishes and good wine made our dinner here very good
I had my 25th birthday party here. It was a good choice. They were able to reserve the entire downstairs room for us, and the food was good. The song selection is was good, and I find the cheesy videos funny. Because we had the entire room to ourselves, we were able to turn it into a karaoke dance party. Scary. In short, this is a good spot to have a party!
I admit I was skeptical after reading the mixed reviews. I tried Asia Roma years ago and just moved back to the neighborhood. I'm glad I tried it again and have become a return customer!
I've gone to Asia Roma many times. The food is always good and the staff is always fiendly and attentive. One of the best places in the neighborhood for sure. Highly recommended.
Pros: Food, Staff
I just went in there for lunch and the service SUCKED.. First my boyfriend ordered a nasty salad and when we sent it back because of the fishy taste although it was a Cesar salad he ordered, the chief had the nerve to say we had to take it because nothing was wrong with the way he made it..
What did it for me is when while I was eating the owner or manager dog started walking around!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I use to go there for lunch and I will never eat there again and I will make sure to send out a mass email to all of my colleagues not to eat there...
I liked Asia Roma for the karaoke room and the song selection. Perfect place to go with a group of friends. The waitstaff was very nice, helpful and the service was excellent.
Pros: Karaoke, excellent service
I was here Monday evening.. and had a blast... food was good, the bartender and waitress were very nice. Kareoke was fun too! the lounge area where they have it is small and cozy and happened to be a little empty, which kinda made it feel like it was just us for a while. The deal was $1 per song, which was a tip for the dj, which was fine and actually a reasonable price in comparison with some other places i've been to... AND everything was fine UNTIL i noticed that my friends and i were the only ones paying the dollar per song!!! i mean, the lady was ASKING us for the dollar!! BUT she didnt ask the other people that were in there, who all happened to be Asian! I complained to the waitress and told her that its the principle of it all and that THAT (""favoring the ""locals"" thing) would make people (aka me!) not want to come back!
You can chose anything, everything is consistently good. The penne primavera was glorious. AND the service is fun and friendly.
I highly recommend Asia Roma. A nice selection of food that's served by a friendly and attentive waitstaff. They also have karaoke downstairs. There were plenty of songs to choose from and we stayed for quite sometime. We had a blast at Asia Roma and would go back again.
Pros: Food, Staff, Karaoke
I am very disappointed with the place, nothing special about it. The food is not that great, its very tasteless and not everyone have their food at once, i end up watching my friends having their entree. I have no ideas what the wait staff is tring to say to me when i asked about my entree. This was my first time there and last time, don't expect me to go back again. Would not recommend anyone to go there to eat!
Cons: FOOD, SERVICE,
My boyfriend planned my birthday party at Asia Roma and we had such a great time. We had it on a Saturday night starting at 8 pm...and somehow didn't leave until close to 1. We had a 4 course meal and 2 hours of open bar. The food was surprisingly good, although the portions were just a bit small (mostly the appetizers). The staff was super friendly and accomodating and the place had an overall casual, easygoing feel. We had about 20 people and had the whole downstairs area to ourselves. We chose this place over a private room Karaoke type place because we heard the food was great (it was) and there is a DJ who plays the songs for you (you fill out a slip with the song) Plus you are not cramped with a large amount of people into a tiny room. It was great.
Pros: great service, can have the downstairs to yourself, affordable karaoke
Asia Roma serves a good variety of food. For my wife who likes Italian, she can have fettuccini or chicken parm. I'm not big on Italian so there is sesame beef or salmon. The staff at Asia Roma is also very friendly. Oh yeah, good drinks too.
Pros: Food, Staff
A nice find in Chinatown. After eating a delicious dinner, we enjoyed some karaoke. There was a very good song selection and we sang our a**es off. Also, good drinks and a very accomodating staff.
Pros: Karaoke, Staff
The best chicken parm I've ever had, and Karaoke too! Be sure to reserve table 20. It's the biggest and best
I've been to Asia Roma a few times and I love the fact that I can order very different types of food in the same restaurant and both cuisines are delicious. The staff is always friendly and helpful and it's a great place for an after work drink. Gotta love Asia Roma!
Pros: Food, Service
Asia Roma serves really tasty food in a comfortable atmosphere. I've also gone to have drinks and sing some karaoke and we had a great time. The staff is very nice and accomodating as well.
Pros: Food, Karaoke
It is a very good restaurant, you need to try. I been there every time was so enjoy, and I recommand my friend everyone are satistfy.
I have to agree that the kitchen service of this place is very slow and it does take a long time to get food out and totally under staff in the kitchen. The food is pretty good, not just OK pretty good. The price for their drinks are great. I had a party of 10 there for drinks and some bar food and snacks, the whole bill was until $300 including tips. And we had ALOT of drinks and plates after plates of food.
Pros: service, price, drinks
Cons: not really a restaurant
My friends and I enjoyed Asia Roma. The food choices were good, the drinks were good and the service was good. I'm glad I found this on Citysearch
Pros: Dood, Frinks, Service
The staff was wonderful but it took a whole hour before our food was served to us. The food was cold and not that good. Though the staff was friendly, they were more attentive to the party downstairs. Did not enjoy our experience here!
Cons: Slow service
We went there for drinks and appetizers. It has a nice bar atmosphere. The staff was quick with bring our order. =)
I recently had a get together at this restaurant and felt compelled to share my satisfaction with my overall experience. Its a cozy place that I hope is around when I visit New York again. The servers were attentive and the food was prompt and quick. The karoake room was fun. I'm glad my friends and I discovered it. I would recommend to anyone.
Asia Roma is one of the best places I ever ever been in the city. We had a holiday work party there and everyone had a wonderful night. The food was incredible and the service was incredibly attentive all night long. The owner, Mei, is totally awesome, really cool, and came over herself to check on us throughout the night. The karaoke ROCKS! They have a huge selection and an kickass room. The regulars are way cool and friendly also. Some incredible singers too. Very reasonable overall considering the calibre of food you enjoy and the top notch service. Highly recomended to anyone looking for a great night out or a sublime dining experience.
I love Asia Roma! Mei & Angel top all other hosts and the food is excellent to boot. The best place for a karaoke party. Love the downstairs, upstairs there's a nice cozy bar & you can always meet a good lawyer.Have yet to eat at a better Italian/Asian fusion restaurant. My favorite are the spring rolls. I want to be there now. I wish I was doing Tai Chi in the park across the street. The whole place is lovely.Go now. EAT.
Pros: Excellent Ambiance, food
Cons: closed sometimes.
I definitely like this place. I always come through with dates all the time. It's a cool LES spot, its got a lot of NYC style, and its always got great people.
Pros: good times
Cons: LES is a bit gloomey
This place is the real deal! The true New Yorkers know to come to this downtown fixture in the old Five Points hood on Mulberry Bend. A cool mix of chinatown chicks, lower east side hipsters, karaoke kids and the crew from the NY State Supreme Court (think Law & Order) right next door are all in attendence for this non-stop party. The awesome Italian cuisine is delicioso so you can keep up your strength for lots of singing and swaying to the crooners. The service is always cheerful and the bar is definitely the place for some exceptional NY people-watching. Don't miss this genuine gem - and bring your appetite.
Pros: Ambience, Entertainment, Food
Loved it! Always have a good time there, nice ambience, food is
Pros: ambience, service
Just as music accentuates a film but doesn't detract from the whole, so is the atmosphere of this fine restaurant. Between the attentive service, diverse menu and food which excels the dining pleasure is complete. A great meal is one of the few rewards in life and Asia Roma delivers! Thank you!!!
My friends and I happened to stumble upon this place one night and we were pleasantly surprised. The service was great and the menu had a nice variety of dishes and was not pretentious in the way that ""asian fusion"" restaurants tend to be. We got sauced on drinks from the bar (I highly recommend that leechee martini!) and then went downstairs for karaoke! This is a nice, cozy little place that I absolutely recommend checking out.
Pros: great atmosphere, cozy
Cons: stairs to karaoke room not good after too many drinks
Awesome little place on Mulberry Street. Everything I have tried off the menu has been great, but I go for the drinks more than anything. They have a good little drink menu (litchee martini is awesome), the ambiance is nice and cozy, and the location is conveniently close to the Canal Street Station. A great place for after work drinks.
Pros: Good drinks, good food, nice ambiance
Cons: Parking (and driving) in the area is difficult
I always have a very enjoyable time here. The food is is wonderful, service is great. I never had a bad dinner here. I look forward to their daily specials. Sometimes I request for a special they had before and they will make it for me. I meet up with my friends here often. Sometimes we just have drinks. These bartenders really know how to pour them ! This has become a place I go to when I feel like just hanging around. But the karaoke from downstairs can get a little annoying sometimes.
Pros: Fresh food, generous size portions on food and drinks
Cons: grabbing a bar seat on a busy night
Asia Roma is an affordable spot to meet, relax, and party, while dining on something far different than the regular Chinatown fare. During the day, I like it for business meetings. Judges and attorneys from the nearby courthouses sit in their spruced-up main room, while sun pours in through the front window. At night, the restaurant fills up with the after-work crowd, as Chinatown political types sit in the back. Late in the night, folks start burning up the stage with the karaoke machine in the party room downstairs.
Pros: Cozy place, friendly service.
We just love this place. just decided to book another christmas party here, 3rd year in a row. food is great, service attentive, AND THE PRICES HAS NOT GONE UP ! food is always fresh and you can tell it's cooked to order (not sitting around at room temperature) Great value for your money. We always have a very enjoyable time.
Pros: GREAT VALUE, WARM AMBIENCE, NICE STAFF
Cons: CABBIES CAN'T FIND IT
I think the biggest problem with this place is their system of serving. With one chef and a bad serving system, as the waiter told me at the end of the night, the chef completes everything for a table before he starts working on the next table. That means that if you end up walking in after 2 or 3 other groups, you have to wait until each of those other groups have gotten everything from appetizers to dessert before you even see your bread basket. Also, the chef has no help, so they can't serve more than 2 or 3 people food at the same time. Leading to my experience below: I went there with a group of friends and family for a dinner. I should have read the previous user reviews, because my experience was very similar to a few already written. After waiting half an hour, we finally got the waiter/bartender's attention to order (the only guy serving the bar AND tables initially). My friend also had to request twice for two beers before we got them. It took us 45 minutes to get our appetizers. We were sitting there for a long time, starving for food. Just as we were starting to receive appetizers (75 minutes in), we ended up getting a bread basket on the table, which should have been there from the very beginning. Two of the appetizers didn't come out, so we just figured he didn't hear them and we just wrote them off. Finally, 30 more minutes later (a total of 105 minutes) we started getting our entrees. We initially decided not to start eating until everyone got their food, but we gave up on that idea after plates came out one by one every 5 minutes. It took 30 minutes between the first and last plate to come out (125 minutes from when we sat down). Then those last two appetizers? Out they came in the middle of the entrees. We told the waiter we didn't want them anymore, but he just said that it was ordered and refused to take it back. It was a disaster from the beginning. The food was ok and definitely didn't compensate for the horrible service.
Cons: Rude service, long wait for food.
love this place. you can sing when you want or just hang around the bar. there's no room charges like some other places so you can just hang around as long as you like. We really went the first time for karaoke, but to our surprise, the food was very good. We enjoyed it and we've been going back. it was fun watching other people sing too.
Pros: friendly, casual, good menu
Cons: can get too crowded
Saw this on Citysearch so I went with a few friends. We sang our hearts out to some classic tunes and had an awesome time. The people we met at Asia Roma were very friendly and the food(Asian & Italian selections) upstairs was very good as well. Glad we found it!
Pros: Karaoke, Sevice
For karaoke, it really shouldn't be like this. Asia Roma has a terrible selection & only two microphones. Also, it's such a small space that you can't escape the howlings of the drunks at the microphone. Not recommended - at all.
Cons: Small space, terrible song selection, very crowded
this place grows on you. been here a few times after a great party we had there. find myself coming here on a nights we feel like hanging out. the food is always good ! one of the things I enjoy here. and the karaoke !! as corny as it seems, but it's great fun ! staff remembers you and greets you like a regular. and most of all... the drinks are HALF of what you pay elsewhere. can't go wrong here. sometimes gets really busy on weekends. there's always a lot of parties there.
Pros: food, reasonal prices, nice new decor
Cons: slightly off path
The food was ok. More Roma than Asia. The karaoke was very very very outdated. It is not the place if you want to sing anything remotely current- strictly 2003 and earlier. Some of the tunes were labeled incorrectly as well. The service was good and there is some interesting artwork hanging on the walls- lots of floating fruit...
Pros: Those paintings
Cons: outdated karaoke selection
I've been visiting Asia Roma regularly, and finally decided to write a review for it. What can I say about this place; great food, great service, great karaoke. The karaoke system may seem a tad outdated. But boy, do I really sound like a star when I'm in Asia Roma.
Pros: Nice lil friendly place.
Cons: Tacky decor.
I Jumped off the bridge on this one. I decied to try thier Italian Food and was very disapointed. I should have just bought a jar of sauce and some dried pasta. I would have been happier. Maybe the chinese food was better but I did not see anything on the main menu. The place was a bit loud as well because of the Karoke in the Basement. Oh well you live and learn.
Keep walking till you see the real italian fair.
Pros: Nice Waiters
Cons: Food not Great, Loud!!, Dark
Decided to hold a B-Day party here based on the ""Citysearch"" ranking of one of the top group destinations. Let's just say that whoever took the pictures for the website must have been a Photoshop pro!! This place was dingy and had a ""dirty"" feel to it. The service was terrible!! One of our guests chose three different main dishes on the menu and to each one was told, ""we're fresh out of that."" How could they be ""fresh"" out of it when we were the first ones to have dinner that day. Then they had the nerve to include one of those nonexistant dishes on the check. I don't recommend it and I don't know what Citysearch was thinking.
Cons: SERVICE!!!, interior, wait time
So many ""cool"" reestaurants have so little staying power---but not Asia Roma. Their food is consistently extraordinary. It's my favorite.
We went there with two friends from out of town, it took 45 for the appetizers to be brought out and even then only one came out the other was brought with our entrees all of which came out at different times. The food was passable but nothing special, the atmosphere was dank at best, and when we informed the manager about the poor service he didnt seem to care.
Cons: bad area, Terrible Service, bad atmosphere
My husband and I recently hosted a party for some family and friends, and we had it at the restaurant's lower level. Everyone had such a great time! The food was delicious (love that salmon!), the wait staff was very attentive, and even the DJs were accommodating. If you're looking for a good time and something different to try with the family, this is definitely the place to go!
Pros: Value for your money, Good food, Parking garage nearby
Came here for a party and had such a good time I later wind up booking one for my boyfriend's birthday. It's not often that you can have a very enjoyable dinner and party all night. We all enjoyed the food so much. And the singing and dancing afterwards was absolutely the best time we've had. It was a busy night and they should have more staff, but it was ok.
Pros: Reasonable prices, nice menu, cozy
Cons: hard to find
After making a reservation for my sister's bday party 2 weeks IN ADVANCE, I get a call from the restaurant 4 days before the date saying they can't accommodate me since they have another party coming in for the same time - would I like to move my dinner 2 hours before the time I wanted or 1.5hrs after? Ridiculous! What is the point of making a reservation if they bump you last minute?? Other reservation came in after mine but they decided to give that one preference, no explanation!
Cons: terrible service
This is like karaoke in the remake. I was kinda shy about singing in the open, I've only been in a private room. But this is the BEST... it brings out the best in you. We had so much fun, met new friends, it was great. food was great, drinks were reasonably priced. Really had a good time.
Pros: nice crowd, inexpensive
