Avon Animal Hospital

When I walked in the office was quite clean and cozy. It was quiet which helped my kitten relax a lot. The staff were very friendly and allowed me to be with my pet the whole time except for xrays. They are a little pricey but offer a credit card with no interest for 3 months which was great for me. I recommend them highly over even pricey vets in Rochester.

I have been taking my dog to Avon Animal Hospital for 8 years. Every single time I come in for a check-up the vet makes sure to let his assistant know that my dog is a black cocker spaniel (in a "beware" tone).He is so friendly! I take great care of my buddy and was told, after a two second glance at his teeth from an assistant, that he needed to have his teeth cleaned. I said, "Absolutely!" I felt horrible that my buddy had teeth that needed cleaning!I signed a consent form and was told by the assistant that occasionally, under worst case scenarios, a tooth or two might be extracted. I told everybody at the hospital how nervous I was about leaving him to get anesthetized. Later in the afternoon I get a call saying I could pick my dog up and that ELEVEN teeth had been pulled. NO CALL. NO PRIOR EXAMINATION. NO CHANCE FOR ME TO GET A SECOND OPINION. This dog is not the same dog. He looks different and the next 48 hours were horrible to witness. He is still not eating properly. I cannot believe they did not call me. I called five vets around the area and did not tell them of my ordeal, merely asked how they handle tooth cleaning. EVERY ONE of them said they do an exam prior to the cleaning - an office visit for only the teeth inspection and to give the owner an idea of what to expect. Not Avon.Very expensive for everything, but I don't mind spending money on my pet. The tooth cleaning was quoted to me to cost $350. After 11 teeth were pulled and I screamed at the vet, my bill was only $359.00 with all sorts of "Goodwill" discounts. What does that tell you? It tells you that they know darn well they should have called before mauling my dog without me even having a chance for a second opinion or to investigate the situation. ELEVEN TEETH!!!! My dog was the happiest and spunkiest dog 4 days ago. Stay away - the vet's diploma is from 1973 (early 70's anyway). That used to give me comfort and I did not mind paying high bills because of it. It now tells me that this guy hates cocker spaniels and is in dire need a refresher course on how to run a business. NO PHONE CALL OR WARNING FOR ELEVEN TEETH!!!!

WHen it comes to my pets I make sure that I have the right people taking care of them. When my three month old kitten was sleeping all day and not eating well there is no one I trusted more than my person vet at the Avon Animal Hospital. WIthin just a few hours I was in meeting with my vet after hours in order to determine what the problem was. It turned out that she had a minor intestinal infection and she would be just fine with proper medication and rest. I love having a vet like this at my side!

This is a great veterinarian! Its easy to get an appt for a sick animal.. And they treat your pets wonderful! Just like they were your kids. I like the most that they send out reminders when shots and check-ups are due or coming up. One less thing I have to remember- A truly great place to take your animals.
