My wife brow beat me into agreeing to replace our "starter" towels, sheets, pillows, comforters, etc. I thought it would cost a fortune, but was pleasantly surpirsed when I saw the prices at this store. EVERYTHING we bought from this place is fabulous! The sheets feel even better than those I've slept on at Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons, etc. My wife really likes them, and it is real important to me that she really likes our sheets! The bamboo bath towels seem to SUCK the water from your body! And my pillow is like no other ---- "prescribed" for me by the owner, who really knows her pillows.

OMG Debbie, you are such a whiner. I purchased a shower curtain from the Elegant John, too. It now has cat hair on it from my kitten who likes to sit on the side of the tub. Maybe I should return it and ask for my money back?? I laundered the curtain, and dried it on low til it was damp, then hung it up. Guess what? It's fine. Maybe you should spend your time learning how to do laundry instead of bashing local businesses. I also have fabulous pillows from this store. No comparison to the imported junk you can buy in dept stores like Bloomingdales.

There??s nothing ??Elegant? about The Elegant John. The mark of a good store is not when you purchase items and the store makes a sale; it??s when you have a problem and the store solves it for you or works towards an agreeable solution.

I purchased a cotton shower curtain, washed it and it shrunk a foot in length and a foot in width. I took it back to the store and the woman in charge (maybe owner, maybe manager) told me that the company that sold them the curtain would not take it back because I shrunk it. She did say that as a courtesy, she would give me a 10% credit on the curtain so I could apply it towards purchasing a new curtain.

The curtain was approximately $50. Assuming the store paid $25, they have now lost a customer for life. If you??re making purchases at this store, DON??T EXPECT ANY TYPE OF CUSTOMER SERVICE because you won??t get it. You can get the same pillows, towels and sheets at the same price at Bloomingdales when they run their home sale.

Over the past 3 years, I purchased all the pillows that I needed when I renovated my house in the Hamptons. This was a very disappointing experience and one that people shopping at the store need to know about.

Have been going here for years and recently spent over $700 dollars for items to send my son to college. (This past summer probably spent $2000 at their store.) When we got to school I realized we did not have a feather bed cover. I called store and basically they did not believe that I was not given a feather bed cover. I paid the $36 dollars for the new feather bed cover and also bought two inexpensive pillow covers. They said they would pay for regular shipping but given that my son is experiencing the same pricking sensation as mentioned below by another customer, I wanted to get it to him quickly so I paid. I was civil and nice but they have lost a pretty good customer for not offering to supply a $36 item. They were very helpful but penny wise and pound foolish.

I purchased a set of 1000 count sheets that are like heaven from this chic and elegant spot right outside East Hampton village. The store is in a quaint little shopping cove with some other nice shops. They have a lovely selection of soaps and candles, as well as some lovely small paintings by a local artist. The two associates who waited on me could not have been more gracious.

Purchased a featherbed which had dozens of feathers coming through it every night and hundreds of "pricks" sticking out. Felt like sleeping on a bed of tacs. Store sent the featherbed back to the manufacture to be repaired. Received the featherbed back and had the the same exact problem. Store then asked me to ship the featherbed back to them (at my expense) so they could determine if it was "defective". The fact that it was still PAINFUL to sleep on wasn't enough for them to give me a refund. I threw out the featherbed since it would cost too much to ship back only for them to possibly say they don't think it's "defective".

If you are looking for some indulgent new purchases to spruce up your guest room or even the master bedroom, this is one specialized store in the east end. They are a bit pricey, and be warned that the staff sometimes has attitude that makes you wonder why they are there. But location is important if you need to pick up some last minutes items locally and not go up island
