Both Franks were very helpful to me. I had seen a lot of apartments prior to joining them. I am a single mom with a young son and a victim of Hurricane Sandy. New Spirit helped me find a great apartment for a great price! I highly

I'd like to start by saying, Apartment hunting is NOT easy. I had it good when I first moved to the neighborhood in that I had a place ready to go. Once my lease expired there I knew it was time to find a new place. I originally did what everyone usually does in these situations, I went to Craigslist. I sifted through 5 to 7 places, all turning out to be duds or toilet bowls (dirty and disgusting).

So, as I was biking along in 3rd Ave on my way to the Verrazano Bridge I came across New Spirit Realty. They had the usual postings I saw on Craigslist and other brokers, "clean studio apartment, separate kitchen." I decided to walk in there on a whim and Frank and Frank Jr. were really polite and listened to what I was looking for in an apartment.

They showed me a few places, but I wasn't convinced yet. My friends were telling me to check out these other realtors that have a really snazzy looking office with a nice glass front, flashy advertisements, and an office that looks like it was snapped up from the future. The woman who helped me out didn't listen to what I wanted, kept reminding me that this is "New York" where rent is expensive (apparently she knew everything about NYC even though she's only been here for 4 months), and that perhaps I should go to craigslist if I'm looking for a better deal.

The next day I went back to New Spirit and they showed me the nicest apartment I've ever seen. Beautiful building, laundry, and low cost rent. I couldn't say no. They had an exclusive on the place and truth be told after viewing an obscene amount of apartments, this was the nicest place for the price. The lesson I learned was apartment hunting is NEVER easy, why not have a respectable realtor like New Spirit find it for you and help ease the transition? I did, and I'm happy with the results.

Pros: Awesome Customer Service

Cons: I wish I would've found them sooner

Frank, a nice young fellow, a craigslist poster, he made me fill out an application, on the way to see the apartment, than the father comes in, omg he starts yelling and venting his sewer on his son right in front of me, making me utterly uncomfortable, anyway out we go to see an apartment, it was not too bad, than back to the office where this ??human?? embarrassed his son some more, I don??t know why, then out of pity I gave a deposit of $300.00 made sure it??s completely refundable as I still had other viewings scheduled with other realtors.

at night I sent him an email, that I fell in love with another apartment, so he should hold off submitting my application ??n I will be coming by to pick up my deposit.

I also called him Monday morning 10:00am to confirm he has received my email, after a few minutes on the phone it all became clear, YUP, THIS ************* **** **** ******* ***** wants to steal my precious monies, and I must point out some the gash that pooped out like from a sewer pie hole;
??We worked very hard for you, we walked up the stairs to show you the apartment, and it??s a walk-up building you know??
??I printed seven pages of your credit report; you know how much ink that is??
??You send me an email at night, when its peaceful time when people go to church?? at night??

Seriously? My god I thought this scammer is gonna come up with some better excuses to steal my money, but this professional had the nerve to excuse his shady behind with this lies.

Anyway we came to an agreement as I mentioned the building owner??s name (long story) that he will return $225 and only retain $75 for himself (for his 30min hard labor showing the place). The end he only returned $200 because I wanted my cash back and not some rubber check.

I really don't know how you managed to keep your shady activities, your Nigerian 411 operation in hiding so long, but welcome to the internet 'the age of information'

Pros: don't even dream of one

Cons: if there's no other agent, go homeless
