I started going to University Dental a couple of years ago when I was contemplating Invisalign treatment. I went in for a consultation and knew this was the right place for me. Dr. Silverman is extremely detail-oriented and makes sure that my treatment is on track. The staff is super friendly. Everyone there knows your name and it makes seeing a doctor that much more of a comfortable experience. Now I get my cleanings done there too! I am surprised by some of these negative reviews, as I feel like the team at University Dental always has what is in the best interest of my health at the forefront of my treatment plan.

I've been going to Dr. Silverman for over 20 years and have always been satisfied with the service and treatment I get. The office staff is courteous and helpful and I've always been impressed with the standard to which he holds his hygienists to. Dr. Silverman has a passion for his profession and has always been extremely diligent on keeping up with the newest and best treatment methods.

I have recommended many people to him over the years and have never once gotten anything but thanks for the referral.

Dr. Silverstein or Barry or whatever his name is nothing but a greedy bastard who really doesn't care about the patient, just about how much money he will make off your mouth. He drives a very expensive vehicle. He's also very arrogant. The so called "office manager", - whom I will not name - is basically a collections agent who harrasses patients. I will never set foot in that place again and I make sure to tell everyone I know what crooks they are. Also, their prices are outrageous, with or without insurance. They are horrible.

I don't know what office Alain R. went to, but he must have it confused with some other place. I have been a patient at University Dental at Bayside for over twenty years.

Before myself or anyone in my family or friends that I have recommended go to University Dental, they have always been asked for their previous dental records to be sent and reviewed. So that they do not have to duplicate X-rays.

I have never nor anyone I know have been asked for their social security number. Insurance card yes. SS number no.

I always pay when I go to the doctor, the dentist, the super market, etc. I do not know about Mr. Alain. So I assume he did not pay his bill and that might be what the red sticker was. Like I said I would not know because I always pay my bills.

I have no complaints about any cleaning I have received there. It is not my favorite thing to do, but I have no problem getting a cleaning there.

Like I said, I have been a patient for over twenty years at University Dental and the Dentists and staff are always in uniform. I have never seen a doctor in jeans there.

I have all of my clean healthy teeth and I have Dr. Silverman and his staff to thank for that.

The story goes like this:

I made an appointment for a check-up and a cleaning.

1) Despite the fact that I checked before the appointment (and they knew what kind of insurance I have) they assigned me a doctor OUT OF NETWORK. Make sure you triple check this issue before the mouth is open.

2) They also knew that I made a Panoramic X-Ray recently, but they insisted I should make another one (as a part of initial evaluation) ?? Be prepared to pay for it from your own pocket. The insurance usually covers one (1) panoramic every 60 months. This X-Ray is not cheap.

3) After I made the panoramic and it was obvious for me I should look elsewhere for a dentist, I asked for the films. They told me they are not allowed by law to give me the films (again, I paid for these pictures) ??But we can give you a copy?. ??Fine? I said, ??Give me a copy?. ??No problem. It costs 25 bucks? (!).
The 25 dollars ??copy? is actually a blurry PRINT on paper.

4) Another thing: I gave them my Social Security Number over the phone when I made my appointment. As a matter of fact this was unnecessary since I gave them also the Insurance Card Number. Once in the office, they asked me again for the SSN. ??I gave you already? I said. ??We don??t have it any more?. This kind of answer makes me nervous. I hesitate for a second, then I said ??I don??t have the card with me; I will give it to you next time?. Big mistake. After a couple of days they sent me the FULL bill with a BIG RED MENACING STICKER threatening me if I don??t give the SSN they can??t ask for money from the insurance and I have to pay in full for all the procedures. And interest on top of it. I was thinking: ??should I pay half a grant, or should I give them the SSN and pray for the best?? I decided eventually to give them the numbers.

Actually, the first things you notice, once you enter the office, are some engraved plaques on the walls about their credit card policies and how serious they are about getting their money.

Now, the procedures.
5) The cleaning procedure left my gums bleeding (the explanation of the hygienist was ?? you don??t floss as often as you should). Period. I??m not a specialist to argue with that, but I suspect something was not OK with that cleaning.

6) After cleaning they showed me an animation about how important is to extract (!) the third molar (wisdom tooth) along with ?an estimate of how much it will cost. The doctor hit the ??Play? button and he left. I was sitting like a fool with the bib around my neck watching cartoons. This feature presentation is more expensive than a movie ticket. It is billed as part of the dental examination and initial evaluation.

7) And by the way, the doctor (at least in my case) was not wearing any kind of uniform. He was casually dressed (jeans, etc.). After all, you don??t need scrubs to play a movie.

You might be luckier than I was (i.e. paying big bucks to watch a cartoon about extractions, a botched cleaning and a $200 blurred print of your own smile)

I came here to have my braces done and the dentist was extremely patient with me since I am deathly afraid of anyone working on my teeth. I chose the invisible braces and they looked great on me. You can hardly see them. The process was painful at first, but after 1 week, the pain subsided and I haven't had the need for the pain killers anymore. I'd recommend them. They always seem to be one time with their appointments.

There are two dentists here and a couple of hygienists. Everyone is very professional and very nice. The office is immaculate and they have state of the art equipment. There are also tv's in every room to entertain you during the exam. We brought my 3 year old in for his first checkup and they were wonderful with him.
