Totally and utterly forgettable. I simply can't imagine what the positive reviewers were experiencing. They did put a pitcher of water on our table, which was nice. And the bartender made a good, large Manhattan. Otherwise, no go.

Totally agree with the previous two posts. Stay away from this place. Food has no flavor. Service is really bad. The entrance is the most horrible entrance that any restaurant could every have. A sad, disgusting, dirty bar and some tables full of bills and newspapers.

Pros: can't think of any

Cons: food, decor, service

I've tried this place twice and found it highly disappointing both times. I am Italian and have cooked and eaten many times in Italy, mainly Campania and Sicily. Manducatis is allegedly a Campanian/Neapolitan ristorante. They should be ashamed to disgrace their homeland with such undistinguished, even carelessly prepared food. Grilled vegetables were partly burnt. Veal chop bland and stringy. Insalata, horrible. There was nothing memorable about either of the two meals I had at this place, which, by the way, is a dump. Schifoso, as we say. Avoid it. If you're looking for outstanding and creative southern Italian cooking in Queens, try Rocco Sacramone's Trattoria L'Incontro in Astoria, which puts Manducatis to shame.

The first time I came here it was EXCELLENT! Such great food and service. I brought relatives in from out of town here the weekend before Valentine's Day and the service was HORRIBLE! We were all very annoyed. I asked for water 3 times over a 30 minute period when I first arrived before I recieved any. After the wonderful anipasto tray came, it was 60 minutes before our plates were removed and dinner was brought. Even after this long of a wait the women at the table didn't get their meals for another 10 minutes! Very tacky. We did clean our plates and I do reccommend the Tiramisu.

Pros: Family owned, Good wine list

The homecooking here is from scratch, so it stands to reason that you sip your wine ,talk to your table mate, relax a bit and go about life a bit slower. When you order the pasta its cooked for just you not preboiled and reheated. I love the fact that if I'm in a hurry the staff ,when told , can direct me to dishes that will get me out pronto. Pasta takes 13 to 15 min. to cook at home...same here its home..... just that its better at Ida's house than at yours. The wine in the cellar is not rushed why should you . Buffala Mozz./fresh tomato, split a pasta(Shrimp Ida) Pig if its the special and a wine from the cellar is why we have been comming back for over two decades our threegenerations and the three Cerbone generations It is not like home it IS HOME to us

Pros: Family run, cooked to order, Winelist of values

.

Ida s food touches my soul!! Ican really taste the love Ida has for the fresh ingredients, it comes right through to my core. Shrimp Ida is sooooo....simple, but the layers of flavor run so deep. The wine turtle just loves her pig, long slow cooking and wonderful spices makes each fork full(and I do mean FULL) dance in my mouth... please let Vincenzo or Anthony introduce you to the perfect pig wine(any roast really) Taurasi..... they have many producers and years available on the mamouth wine list. Wine turtle has found value at all price levels and many rare&hard to find producers are listed here. Insane levels of value are found in the big bucks wine 40to50% of prices in Manhatten. And the coffee is great too!!!!!!!!!!

Ida's food is wonderful- just ask the waitress what's good. Its family cooking, not hi end Italian cuisine, but everything is terrifically fresh. Wine list has many treasures + bargains

istake no. 1, not listening to past reviews, second going on Valentine's Day. When we were seated an hour after our 8:30pm reservation, my boyfriend and I were so happy our ordeal was over. Unfortunately, it just begun. As we sat waiting for our menus, we started noticing the frowns on the faces of the people around us, watching as patrons tried to flag down waiters without luck, asking for things like water. The excitement/anticipation as entrees were carried into the room was high, only to be followed by sighs from hungry patrons. I literally whispered 'suckers' when our entrees finally came. We sat at 9:30pm and our entree didnt come until 11pm. Yes, the food was superb. But it was a LOUSY experience. Of course, I felt worse for the woman seated near me who was 8 months pregnant and waited even longer than us for her food.

Pros: food

Service was awful and my party got ripped off! Their family-style serving method left us hungry for more. Instead of spreading two plates of an order evenly among our party, they finished them half way through and added a third plate to our check. not worth the price at all.

Pros: well lit, free water

I was recommended to go to this restaurant from a freind who couldn't stop raving about how great it was. Unfortunately, my experience was just the opposite. I went for a romantic dinner with my husband and was greatly dissapointed in the bright lighting and very unappealing ambience. The service was frightfully slow. Almost 1 hour before the food arrived, 15 minutes for the dessert, and another 15 minutes just to get the check. It wasn't even very busy!! The food was nothing to brag about, either. I suggest you look elsewhere for dinner out.

Since we needed a good meal after working the long hours around citicorp, me & my girl decided to get some. At first, the place looked really nice with all the fireplaces and stuff, but i soon found out that i can get lost in there. I am sorry to say that the service sucks here. It took forever to get our food. The waiters kept staring at us. It's like they never saw 2 girls before. We had a craving for sausage but they their special that night was the sole. What was so special? Nothing! it tasted like stinky uncleaned fish. After we finished everything, we got the bill to pay and boy were we surprised! It was worth the nights pay for this stuff we ate: stinky sole, cabbage, veal that tasted like chicken, weak coffee & alcohol.

if this restaurant makes home-style cooking, then the cooking must have really suck that night! It tasted like food that they had leftover @ home. The service was damn slow! Our dinner started @ 6pm and ended before 10. When we finally got the check, my heart almost stopped! It's a good thing I had the bling-bling that night. Chef Boyardee is better home-cooking than this.

Pros: bathroom, italian girls on tv, support ny giants

Cons: service, food, price

I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone. I didn't feel welcomed. Horrible service. They were slow and inattentive. The entrees took over an hour and half to come out. The appetizers were hard and stale and the rest of the food was nothing special. I enjoyed Sbarro better than this restaurant.

Pros: Good Pasta

They are unable to hangle a largr party, so much so that there was a minimum of a 45 minute wait in between the appetizers and entrees being served. The staff were extremely rude and impolite. Not to mention the food was not worth the trip. Will never go back!

This is a short cab ride over the 59thst bridge. While it is off the island, it is actually fairly convenient and only takes a few minutes from midtown.

Even if the trip were longer this place is worth it. The homey ambience is extremely warm, inviting and comfortable. This is a place to relax and enjoy. Unlike the sloppy red gravy cliches of Arthur Avenue, the food is excellent.

This is traditional, well executed foods and you have probably eaten inferior versions of many dishes countless times. Eggplant is expertly fried. The gnocchi, a dish that ranges from rubbery to fluffy pillows by chefs who mistakenly view that as a virtue, are here rendered, plump, firm and soulful.

The winelist is extremely strong and deep in Italian vintages back through the 1970s. The selection of French wine is also top-notch (though not yet listed).
