I was upset to read the reviews of Marlene and Tamara. Smells? This place is absolutely immaculate! I have never used a vet practice that is as clean in terms of smell or appearance and now they have a brand new facility. Unlicensed veterinary techs? That post upsets me, because each of the techs are not only licensed but trained at a highly regarded vet tech program (go Google it: LaGuardia Community College veterinary technician 2 year program, the highest rated) but they are also simply wonderful and very experienced. I also love how each and every staff person shows kindness and individual concern for each animal.
Thank goodness the rest of the posts are good, as this is an outstanding veterinary practice, and we are used to using really top vets who are at the Long Island Veterinary Specialists (board certified in many areas including opthamology, surgery, dermatology, etc.) and the North Shore Animal Hospital Vets are really highly skilled, most of them Cornell Veterinary School grads, all just wonderful, very smart, conscientious, and ethical. We love Dr. Megan Kelleher who has cared for our 9 cats and our dog, but I have also used the other vets, Drs. Rosen, Foley and Ferber, and love them all. They are tops. They also do skilled surgery (Dr. Michael Ferber did 2 orthopedic operations for 2 cats) and have a well regarded board certified radiologist for echos and ultra sounds.
They charge no more for their tests or exams than do other practices. Yes, they sell the medications but will allow you to mail order them from a web pharmacy if you like, no problem. They are highly skilled diagnosticians. We have had to use their services for all kinds of conditions (congestive heart failure, cancer, hyperthyroidism, urinary infections, renal disease, skin disorders, etc.) and they did a wonderful job diagnosing and treating these conditions.
I particularly appreciate how Dr. Kelleher listens carefully to the whole story before she draws a conclusion about a condition or the care of the animal, and how she gets it right. She's not only gentle and kind, but very, very competent.
We would be willing to drive miles to get a practice like this and are so lucky to have them in our neighborhood.
Years ago this was a great hospital but times change.I believe that the people that are in charge now were more concerned with running tests, as many as they could.... to get as much money as they could. They are not concerned with the animals welfare. They overcharge for medications that you can buy for much less online. The receptionists are rude and the place smells very bad. They are far better animal hospitals that charge less, are nicer, and are clean.

Have been bringing my cats for the last 15 years. Would highly recommend Dr Ferber or Dr Rosen (don't really know the other vets). My questions and concerns are always answered & addressed, little to no wait once you arrive, very clean, helpful front desk staff. I trust these guys and would be nervous if I had to use another vet. I have always recommended them.

This is by far the best animal hospital I have ever been to. I have been bringing my cats here for the past twenty years. The staff is so compassionate and truly loves animals. The place is immaculate and the fees are fair and reasonable. The veterinarians always take their time to explain everything. In particular Dr. Rosen is a wonderful doctor who saved my cat Brownie's life when she developed breast cancer. I would never trust my cats' health and well being to anyone else.

I love this vet. They have always been very compassionate. Most of the staff have been there for many years and know you by name. The vets are highly skilled and will utilize specialists for added care when needed. Everyone that I send there is very happy with the service provided.
For a ten-minute vet appointment, expect to stay well over an hour.
The vets are competent, but the support staff cannot multi-task well or quickly. Every time the phone rings, she is pulled off what she is doing, (i.e. processing your payment) and onto making another appointment. An hour and 15 minutes is way too long for a mere injection.

If you want the best care and attention for your pet and consider your pet to be like one of your children or your only child then this is the place for them!
Their prices are fair and reasonable and they put your pet before their pocket..
Dedicated staff members as well as doctors make this place like a pet pediatrician in my book!
I have been going to them for about ten years.

I have been taking both my dogs and cat to this practice for over 4 years now. I started going after one of my co-workers recommended it to me. One of my dogs was being treated for the wrong thing for years and was not getting better. With one visit the problem was diagnosed and treated. Within a few weeks the problem was resolved. I have only had good experiences since. I recommend this animal hospital to everyone I meet.

My husband and I have had cats in our lives for over 30 years (we currently have 4), and Dr. Foley is the best vet we've ever had. He is kind, compassionate, knowledgeable, and a very talented surgeon. He is extremely forthright in giving you everything you need to make informed decisions regarding treatments, and he is willing to work with other vets who have different training than he (ie. holistic vets) in order for your animal to get the best possible result. 18 months ago our oldest (at 15) was diagnosed with colon cancer. Between Dr. Foley's successful surgery, holistic medications from another vet, and a whole lot of love, our boy, although not cancer-free, is thriving and living a healthy and happy life. Dr. Foley is a huge, important part of our family!!!

This place is great! I went to a different vet is Queens before and $300 later they told me my dog was too old for surgery. This place is will be conservative if you want and will not do unnecessary testing. I was very comfortable there and there was no waiting!
PROS: no wait, inexpensive
CONS: none

We have two cats-both 4 years old. For the first year of their lives we went somewhere else where we got suckered into getting them unneeded shots and medicines and paid an armload of money. After that we started coming here..first b/c of an emergency and then on a regular basis. All the vets are caring and compassionate. They give us honest answers to tough questions. They are conveniently located on Northern Blvd right off Bell Blvd. They have late and weekend hours also and a parking lot right next to it.
