This is the first time I ordered online from this company and the reviews had me skepitcal at first. I purchased playmobile for my son and it was so easy. I placed my order on Sunday and it came Friday that same week. I'm very satisfied with my order and wasn't overcharged at all. You need to read things carefully otherwise you get charged if it's out of stock when they say free shipping. I highly recommend this site and will contitue to do business with them in the near future.

I found Ridge Road Station on the internet while shopping for Playmobil for Christmas. I love our local toystore and generally try to make my purchases there, but they did not have the Playmobil items I was looking for in stock.
I found Ridge Road Station's prices to be competitive, and although I live less than an hour away, I decided to take advantage of the free shipping (for purchases over $40) and have it shipped to my home.
My order was shipped via UPS, and I received it that same week.

CHRISTMAS RUINED 2010

I purchased a Train from Ridge Road Station on Nov 21, 2010. After I paid for the train and saw the 30 day policy on the receipt I asked the clerk this train was a gift for Christmas and would not be opened until Christmas if their was a problem with the train was I going to have a problem. "Oh no problem come in with the receipt and you will get STORE CREDIT". Christmas came and went and I'm divorced so I had my son on Christmas Eve so for you who are divorced know the craziness between the back and forth and arrangement needless to say my son opened the train and tested the train on December 27, 2010. He spent over 6 hours trying to put the train together this is not his only train he has Lionel, bachmann set and never had this much problems getting the train to run. I called Ridge Road Station once we exhausted the fact that the train was just not going to work. I spoke with a clerk who transferred me to the Train man Gary. I explained the situation to him gave him the dates of my receipt he stated no problems come on in with your receipt and you will get STORE CREDIT.

I drove to Ridge Road station on December 31,2010 to return my son's train set and the clerk at the register had me wait 20 minutes before she can figure out what to do because Gary the train man was not there and the owner was outside plowing the parking lot. I waited and waited for the owner Peter who tells me the receipt says 30 days and I was 41 days beyond the exchange policy. I explained my son doesn't live with me full time and we just opened the train on Dec 27, 2010 he mumbled yeah right and chuckled. He stated I was on my own and had to deal with the manufacturer on my own. He began to give me an example like when people purchase vehicles you are on your own. I added but you a are a retailer and your supposed to stand behind the products you sell he stated I didn't meet the return policy guidelines. I said to Peter that I can't believe their customer service. I was outraged. In the meantime the man at the register next to me was returning a train and he had no receipt. I stood there in disbelief that he was given the opportunity to go get another train for an exchange with NO RECEIPT. Buyer beware that if you have a receipt your held to the return policy but if you have no receipt you get a STORE EXCHANGE. That makes no sense. No such option was given to me they were rude and they were not going to make any constellation on making a return customer happy. Just think if they would of given me my exchange for a broken train I would return to Ridge Road station as I have for over a decade since this store opened.

My son is left with a broken train and his Christmas is ruined. He was so upset he cried all the way from Holley to Pittsford.

I was a repeat customer until that day.....I vowed that if a company can treat customers unfairly and be rude about it is not a company that I will ever return and spend money. I will never purchase one item from that store and will share with all my friends and family not to go to an establishment that is rude to their customers and is unfair with their exchange policy.

I can't believe this business is still doing business with the way they treat the customers unfairly.

After calling to verify stock was available, I was told by staff that the internet site is in fact updated and that every item listed on line was in fact "in stock". SADLY, this is not the case.

After I received an e-mail with tracking information I was was curious about the shipping weight. I then logged back into their website, accessed my account and found that only 1 item out of three were shipped.

I then called the store and the lady that answered the phone said she would check on my order and call me back. SHE NEVER RETURNED MY CALL.

I called the following day, was told by what sounded like same lady..."I'm busy helping customers". I reminder her that I was a customer and wanted to know the status of my order.

She eventually HUNG UP THE PHONE ON ME - THE CUSTOMER.

I again called back and asked for the manager. Some guy claiming he was the owner got on the phone and he too couldn't tell me where my order was and that "IF IT DIDN'T SHIP IT MUST BE OUT OF STOCK."

Their ordering policies claim "NO CANCELLATIONS". So here I am...no written response telling me an item is out of stock, back ordered, unavailable or that my order is canceled.

JUST A BUNCH OF RUDE GRUMPY FOLKS WHO ONLY CARE ABOUT WHO IS IN FRONT OF THE CASH REGISTER.

THEY COULDN'T CARE LESS ABOUT RUINING MY KIDS CHRISTMAS.

SHAME ON YOU RIDGE ROAD STATION. At least send me an e-mail canceling my order.

Be very careful here when ordering online. Price billed to my credit card did not match the price posted on the web site and when I questioned it, I was treated very RUDELY and they actually hung up on me.

I am very fotunate to live right around the corner fomr this amazing store! My girls love to go and watch the trains! They also have every Christmas ornament you could possibly think of for anyone...football fans, careers, a snowman only section, Disney, frogs who wear high heels! Anything you could imagine. Their selection of gifts is great! Again, you can find something for everyone! Well worth the drive from wherever you come from!

As a model railroader for over a decade, I know my trains, and I know the prices. Ridge Road Station prices are off the wall. How do they expect to survive and compete against online stores, where I can get free shipping or discounts on used items if they charge at MSRP for everything? Nobody charges MSRP! I used to buy my trains down the road at despatch junction in Gates, but they recently went out of business, and I expect because of the prices and ease of ordering from your computer.
Ridge Road Station's staff is rather ornery. I bought a 2-6-0 bachmann locomotive a while back that had the smoke unit. I know Bachmann trains are on the unreliable side, so I asked the staff person to test it, which he did. I asked him if the smoke unit worked properly, in which he grumbled "The kids these days" and stormed off to test it. It's a toy store for heaven sakes! learn to deal with kids!
If you want to buy fudge or Christmas trees, then by all means go there. But buy your lionel/scale trains elsewhere. At least it's nice to visit and see everything if you don't plan on buying anything.

This is my first review. I am so excited about the fudge I had, I am telling everyone. Not only was it the best fudge I've ever had, but the price was terrific! I bought a pound and a half for $12. The 2 I had with walnuts, the walnut fudge and the maple walnut, were generously proportioned with the nuts. The one that was a layer of chocolate over a layer of peanut butter was especially creamy. My husband is not a chocolate eater, so I bought him the vanilla fudge with a layer of raspberry jam in the center. Totally awesome! What I liked most was the creamy flavor opposed to the sugary flavor. They let you sample the flavors but that only makes you want them all!

Pros: Beautiful store - lifts your spirits! Great toy railroad and train travels around store. Wonderful Christmas display!

Cons: It take a while to drive out there from Rochester. If you know about the huge flag you can find it easier than looking for a sign.

This is one fantastic store especially for the train collector. There is so much to see here including a special Christmas section and train hobby section. There are special and unique children's items that you don't usually find elsewhere. They feature classic and educational toys here, not run of the mill items found in a regular toy store. There is a fantastic train exhibit that runs through the store on an above railing that is suspended from the ceiling with a town replica in the special train room.
