I enrolled my daughter at Tutor Time when she was an infant and have never had a bad experience with this center. The teachers are wonderful with the children and while at the center my little girl has become excellent with sign language, knows her ABC??s, can count to 13, and has a very strong vocabulary. When she is with other children her age outside of school it??s obvious that she is father advanced and much of the credit for this goes to the staff at Tutor Time. The directors and owner of the school have always been accessible to my family and no matter which member of that team is sitting at the front desk in the morning and afternoon they are always able to greet my child by name. I would and have recommended this school to my family and friends ?? I guarantee that you won??t find a better school on the island.

Let me start by stating that I'm a NYC teacher with 12 yrs. experience. I have to say that this TT on Staten Island is terrible. My 1st problem happened back in March. I got a call at 6:30 PM from the Director and she said my child couldn't attend tomorrow because he doesn't have up-to-date vaccinations. I gave them the records back in Sept. but they realize this now? I said I have no one to watch him. She said she can??t help me b/c the Dept. of Health is coming and they can??t have my son in the building. That was really nice of her (sarcasm).
Last week, as I came out of the elevator, I could hear screaming coming from my child's room. I went to the door and saw the teacher yelling & pointing at my child??s face . He was separated and had to sit alone at a table as the class watched him get verbally assaulted. This is what I refer to as CORPORAL PUNISHMENT. The Asst. Director said she would look into the matter, but of course, nothing was resolved. The following 3 days, the teacher did not say hi or bye, and made my wife & I feel uncomfortable. Fast forward to today. I arranged for another meeting and tried to "clear the air" so we can move past this incident. Instead, the teacher made the following statements to me: 1. "I'm not going anywhere and I've been here for almost 1 year and no other parents have complained about me". 2. "Don't compare me to other teachers!" 3. "You make a horrible father-figure!" Yes. That's right. That's not a typo. The teacher had the audacity to say that to my face in front of the "Behavior Specialist" and the other Asst Director. After my child's teacher insulted me, I kindly asked for a refund of my tuition and will never set foot in that place again.
I was told during my tour that the children are reprimanded in a nurturing and kind manner. Instead, I witnessed the opposite. The Behavior Specialist (whatever that means!) said she doesn't believe the teacher yelled at my child in the way I described, even though she wasn't there. She also said it is OK to yell at the children.

Tutor Time Staten Island is HORRIBLE. That is the truth. The staff and people who are running that place are nothing but trashy, uneducated and immoral excuses for human beings. What is very obvious is that any positive online reviews about Tutor Time Staten Island are written by the owner and staff to try to make themselves look good, deceive people and make more money from poor trusting parents. BEWARE PARENTS!!! This is not a school and it is not run by honest or professional people. I am a parent and use the prediatrician who owns the building for my children. I have had two horrible experiences with the Tutor Time staff and my children are not even enrolled in their 'school'....Imagine how they treat enrolled students and parents. One time, I was at the pediatrician waiting for my child to be seen and a snobby woman who I later learned was Melody, the director from Tutor Time, came in with a child who looked ill. She told the staff at the pediatrician to register her and see the child as a sick visit and to have the pediatrician staff call her parents with any information. She just left the child alone in the waiting area telling the pediatrician staff that she was needed at the school and she would return when the parents were close so that the child wouldn't seem to be alone. That little girl sat in the waiting room and vomited and only the Pediatrician staff was with her. That Tutor Time manager, Melody, was no where to be seen but then showed her face when the parents arrived pretending to be concerned and involved to save face. The second experience was when my own child was sick and I needed to get him to the pediatrician quickly. I had to park my car and partially block a Tutor Time spot. I rushed my child inside because he was vomiting. Within 30 seconds of my arrival into the pediatrician office, a younger woman named Kristen was at the pediatrician yelling that a spot was being used by a parent and to get the car out immediately. Even the pediatrician staff was shocked and disgusted with their behavior. I tried to apologize and she saw my son ill, but she turned to me and said "those spots are ours so you better get your f#@(& car out now or I'll make sure it gets towed". When I went outside, she was standing out there and began to yell at me and tell me to never park in the designated spots again. Of course she used profanity...Very classy. So parents, please take it from the all the negative reviews of concerned parents, previous staff of tutor time and myslef.... Tutor Time is HORRIBLE. The people who work there are rude and disgusting. They do not care about your children and obviously do not care about the example they are setting. There are better schools in Staten Island. Tutor Time should really be evicted from the building and investigated closely.

Obviously people do not do their research when searching for a childcare facility. The one in Brooklyn is CORPORATE owned and the one in Staten Island is FRANCHISE owned, therefore they are similar only in name. The owner in Staten Island is a very nice man who always takes the time out to visit all of the classrooms and children when he is there. He has even sat in rooms reading stories to the children and helping out the teachers. He does not walk around like he is above anyone. He may be stern, but you have to be when you have children in your care. He greets everyone with a smile and does what he can to assist his families. The director, Melody, has really turned the school around since she came from his Manhattan location last July. It really has a home-like school feel. It is evident that the children are learning, but they are cared for like family. Melody and the assistant director, Kristen, always talk about how they have 75 children. You can just see the love they have for their kids everyday. They are constantly going into rooms, giving hugs and kisses, and making sure everyone and everything is okay. The teachers are exceptional. Have they had their issues? Yes, but what place hasn't? There is not a business, school, child care facility on the planet that has not had its ups and downs. At the end of the day I know I can go to work and be confident that my child is being cared for and is safe and loved.

I have read the other comments on this page - and I have to tell you- I don't know about the Staten Island Tutor Time - but I do know about the Bay Ridge Tutor Time. My son has attended this school for about 4 years - and I am very pleased with how he has learned and grown. The school has always been clean and organized. The teachers have been warm and loving to my son, and he has always been clean and happy. I am very happy with the level of care he has been given, and the curriculum. I like the fact how when you walk around the school- there are windows into every class room- and I can drop in whenever I want to check on my son. I strongly reccomend Tutor Time as a safe place for your child where they will learn and grow with lots of friends and supportive educators.

OMG Everything everyone is saying, is sooo true. The one on Staten Island was bought by the same guy who owns the one in brooklyn. The management is....well lets just say there is no management!!!! The management walk around with their heads up their butts. The owner, is a inconsiderate jerk, who thinks who he is. He does not care about his staff, or those KIDS! The more kids they get, the more money HE makes. Cause he pays his staff ....it! The place is dirty and the food they serve these kids at lunch, is so gross. its so sad. Tap water, mush for lunch. If half of these parents only knew what their kids were eating for lunch, they would die. There is no learning, ha ha ha. The kids run around like while turkey, and I'll tell ya why. Because the staff (Teachers and assistant Teachers) dont stick around long enough to give these kids what they really need. Why because the place is a JOKE. The first day I walked in, I was greeted by a young snot girl, who thought, who the hell she was. Her breath was filled with smoke, and she is talking and playing with these kids like that. would you want that for your kid! This guys a piece of, you know what. He wont have this place for long. Not with ALL the MANY GOOD daycare, preschools out there on S.I. Dont send your kid there. And if you have them there, GET THEM OUT!

My experience at the Staten Island Tutor Time was the absolute worst. I worked as a lead teacher for a few months. The turn over rate is extremely high for directors as well as teachers and assistants. The staff are not trained to their maximum capabilities due to the fault of the inconsiderate and disrespectful owner and directors of the center. Children do not receive enough care and their learning needs are hardly met. The owner and directors are rude to parents as well as the staff. You will never be acknowledged by first name nor will your child. The ultimate goal is, "More children, more money." Parents beware. This is not the appropriate daycare to send your child if you want him or her to learn and grow.

The Tutor Time in Staten Island looks good from the outside, but inside its a different story. The staff turnover is very high mainly due to the fact that the manager constantly hires these young kids who are very inexperienced. The things that go on in there are ridiculous. Back-stabbing staff that talks behind each others backs (as if back in high school) and constant use of vulgarity that is expressed by Management directed towards the children and their parents. It is very offensive to say the least when these awful profanities are said outloud (especially by the Management staff) who feels that they are too good for a place like this and is angry that they have to deal with these "idiotic" parents!
If you're smart you will not be fooled by the charade. Dont send your child here, they are a bunch of phonies who only see your precious child/baby as a $ sign and unfortunately thats how you're loved one will be treated.

We are pretty happy with Tutor Time in Bay Ridge. Its our second daycare for our son. Its by far the nicest facility in the neighborhood. Its very bright, clean and spacious. The overall care is good. I wish they did field trips or trips to the park. Most of the teachers are very good and attentive. There is some staff turnover and we aren't in love with all of the teachers but I think that is typical of most centers. I feel like my son is safe and he comes home with all sorts of new things he has learned, including the alphabet, counting in English and Spanish, numbers, colors. Overall pretty satisfied.

My son attended the daycare for just over 1 week. It was the worst. My child cryed the first week (which I would think is normal for an 18 months old). Unfortunately it aggravated the head teacher. She informed me that my child is not normal, and will never adjust. I informed the supervisor of the problem. The next day as I brought my child into the daycare the head teacher stormed out of the room upon seeing me. At which point I spoke to the supervisor again, who told me that the teacher has mood swings. I took my child and walked out of the daycare. As I was putting my child back into the car, the head teacher walked out of the daycare. Upon seeing me she became enraged and stormed up to my car screaming horrible profanities in front of my 18 months old and 4 year old children. as the woman was about to throw herself at my car, we drove away. I later contacted management as well as the main office of tutor time, but I did not get any results. I feel that this teacher is unstable and does not belong working with children, unfortunately they were more concerned with the teacher, then with the children. If this is the way their staff acts in front of a parent, I fear to think what goes on when parents are not there.

I sent one of my children to Tutor Time because I saw a lot of advertisments about them and they sounded really good, but they were the worts daycare that I have ever sent my child to. The kids were wild, running all over the place, and no one seemed to care. I doubt that any learning would be going on here. My child went for 1 week and when I dropped in and saw what was going on, that was the end of it and I pulled her out.

My son attended Tutor Time in Brooklyn for a few months, and overall it was a horrible experience. They have some ridiculous corporate policies, like a biting policy that states that a child must be suspended for biting more than once - even if the child is 2 years old and biting is not an abnormal behavior. The staff behaved like catty high school girls - talking about the parents and children behind their backs. There are much better child care centers out there.
