My glasses broke and I need news ones ASAP. I went to 10/10 Optics just to check them out. Their doc had time for an exam. Nice, thorough. Very cool exam room. I asked the optician to just show me glasses because I still wanted to shop around. I liked all the frames, the prices seemed fair, other customers were there who seemed happy so I DID IT! (I was a little nervous). I just picked them up EYE LOVE THEM! They are great, I see great and everyone should go there.

Was this review helpful to you?
I recently went to see Dr. Rozenberg for my regular checkup. My prescription hadn't changed that much but I was having problems reading the fine print in some medical texts, reference books and drug labels. He changed my lenses to a new digital progressive type and it made a world of difference when reading fine print. The difference was dramatic and definately worth the price difference.
Dr. Domenick Masiello
Pros: cutting edge technology

I came to 10/10 to get ONE new pair of glasses, and I left with 5!! What a great selection they have! I could not resist...the staff was able to help me and fit glasses to MY face, and MY coloring (something which I often find difficult). I decided to get my eyes examined as well, and the Doc was great. Now that I can see, I love looking at myself in the mirror in my new frames...only problem is I can never decide which ones to choose!Love them all.
10/10 is now a regular stop in on my shopping trips.
Thanks!
K Applebaum
Pros: Excellent staff, great vibe, personalized service
Cons: Too many great frames to choose from!!!!!
Posted 09/17/09
Was given a shot of liqueur after choosing glasses, probably to ease the pain of the cost. Nice selection of glasses but I never spent 915 dollars for a pair of glasses before (frames 200 dollars, 700 dollars for examination and progressive lenses. Very expensive).
Pros: Help with choosing frames
Cons: Very expensive

I got tired of waiting on line at the Shake Shack in Madison Square Park (usually worth the wait) so I took a little walk to see if there was any other food around.... I saw their pretty pictures in the window and thought I'd just check it out.. you know.. a little lunch time eyeglass adventure? I walked in and that was it! LOVED the sunglasses so much that I bought them on the spot. Tortoise shell and turquoise. They were nice, helpful and fast to find this lovely frame... lunchtime was almost over, yogurt for me today... but I'm going back next week to get my eyes examined for contacts. I'll keep you posted.....
Pros: near Shake Shack

An honest disclosure: this is my first public review of anything. The reason I am writing this is b/c I was refered to this place by a friend (who btw, needs glasses only occasionally) and I was completely swayed by the reviews. I know how miserable it can feel when you cannot see properly and I do not want anybody else with higher prescription to make the same mistake I did.
Dr. R is a super nice person but unfortunately not good at what he does. If you have less than simple prescription, I would not recommend Dr. Rozenberg. Despite trying for 6 months he could not get me a proper prescription for either the contact lense or eye glasses. I told him I never experienced so much difficulty with my lenses before. His answer was custom lenses which by the way costs a fortune and he charges extra for his time for fitting. I went through a painful 3 months with the awful prescription when I finally I found my current doctor who was able to get the correct prescription right away. Not only that, I see 20/20 with bi weekly disposable lenses! My new doctor said Dr. Rozenberg's prescription was completely wrong and over corrected. 10/10 also charged me almost double for the lenses (Manhattan overhead I suppose).
Also, the staff messed up my order of trial lenses and it took almost 2 months to get one of the trials. Finally they said they will get it Fed-exed and pay for the charges. But in the final bill they charged me for it anyway. They are super sweet on the outside but not so on the inside.
Pros: nice and friendly staff
Cons: Incomptent staff

Move over Imeda!! I can't believe I own over 15 pair. I go there instead of to a museum and inevitably buy another pair, or 2, or 3. You just can't help yourself. Change your look every day. Costs alot less than plastic surgery and is much less painful. A great store and an experience like no other. Spend an hour or 2 watching the action at 1010 and you will know what I mean. Worth every penny, er dollar. I love them, but which pair should I wear tomorrow? The most fun you will have with your clothes on. Check them out.
Pros: The coolest selection of eyeware anywhere
Cons: Unfortunately, you will have to leave when you get hungry

I took in my slightly complicated frames for new lenses, and the frames were never the same (the lenses kept popping out.) 1010 gave me new frames for almost half price and new lenses for free -- and they were really nice about it.
Pros: helpful staff, reasonable folks!
Cons: What are the drawbacks?
Posted 03/17/09
I was so surprised to walk in an find everyone smiling. That was a nice surprise, especially now when all the people in shops seem so sad. I said I needed glasses and they helped me find really comfortable great looking glasses that I won't be ashamed to wear in public. I might even look better with them than without them. Ha!! Friendly people work there. Cool selection. Citysearch was right!!
Pros: they know what they're doing
Cons: closed saturday

I am so happy to review these guys! They are so nice and friendly. I was very nervous because I never love my glasses and I always think that I know what I am doing when I go to get new ones. I just walked in last week becuse they are near work and I was just going to look around. Believe me, I was so surprised when this chic boutique had such nice staff to help me. I really wasn't going to get glasses but the price was less than I thought and they showed me such a fun frame (handpainted) on Sale.....LOVE THEM!!!!!!
Pros: A computer screen to see what I looked like in the glasses
Cons: They open at 10AM and I like to pick up before work
Posted 11/11/08
The quality of service was fair and the staff was even worse when they learned I had eye insurance. They tried to get me to spend on unnecessary things and refused to accept parts of the insurance coverage. Overpriced and not worth another visit
Posted 10/22/08
I read all the reviews here and had to go by. It's all true, this is the best place to get your eyes checked and find a pair of glasses.
The exam was very thorough with the latest technology. I felt like the doctor really was listening to the kind of work I do and discussed what would be good options for me in terms of types of progressives to wear.
They have such a wide selections of frames that they could even find something for my small budget. I only wish I had more money to buy more glasses. It's like being in a candy store. We can just call it eye candy!
They also have the only selection of petite frames for adults that I've ever seen. At last, glasses that fit my face! From now on this is gong to be the only place for me to shop for glasses!
Pros: Really nice patient staff, very helpful. Great frames selection
Cons: So much to choose from, I wish I had a bigger budget to spend!

By far the most pleasant -- and efficient! -- experience I have ever had buying glasses! I have been wearing glasses nearly every day for 25 years and have purchased many glasses from many many different places. I have spent thousands of hours waiting for personal assistance and trying on frames. At 10/10, I received immediate personal assistance and Ruth was right on the money with a frame! I was in and out in less than 45 minutes. 10/10 mixes the great aspects of optician shops "they way the used to be" with 21st technology -- great personal service; warm, welcoming, professional environment; great selection; and cameras/monitors that allow you to instantly see different frames on your face. Best of all, the prices were reasonable. I highly recommend 10/10.

I've never been to such a friendly, professional, and overall FANTASTIC eyecare retailer before! Their eye exam is twice the price of what I paid here in Queens, but Dr. Rosenberg and his staff is several hundred times better than ANY eye doctor I've ever been to (and I've been to a lot of them thanks to my family's history of poor eyesight). My appointment was on a Sunday afternoon half an hour before they closed, and they accomodated to me with no hurry at all. Dr. R told me the same thing eye doctors always tell me: "your eyes are getting worse", but he was just SO pleasant and conversational that I did not (and still do not!) have the sense of impending doom that I usually get when I walk out of an optometrist's office. I know I needed new contacts, and I'll need new glasses too - I haven't made any plans to purchase them as money is tight. I got no sales pressure at all, and when I called them today to ask for a copy of my prescription to be faxed over, and they did with NO QUESTIONS ASKED. I'm looking forward to my follow-up appointment later this week, and I'll be recommending 10/10 to all the 4-eyes I know!!
Pros: SO friendly and professional!
Cons: none at all!

Pretty place, nice people work there, very interesing selection and they have this video screen so I could see what I looked like in the glasses that I tired on. That part was the best. When I take off my glasses, I'm blind, so I always have to get a friend to help me. Someone at work told me about this touch screen that they use when u try on glasses AND IT WORKS!!!! I picked them up last week and I really like them. NEXT STEP, contact lenses. I trust these people now. They were really nice and they cared about what I got.
Pros: This amazing touch screen to see what you look like in the glasses that you try on
Cons: closed Saturday, but I went on Sunday

Great time at 10/10 Optics. I just moved to NY (love it) and my family eye guy who made my glasses forever is too far away. I was so sad. On the train I saw someone wearing really nice glasses (turns out they were made of wood) and I asked him about them and he said.....'YOU MUST GO...' I went , and they were so much fun and so nice and I think that I can see even better than I did with my old glasses. Thanks Dr. Rozenberg and eveyone for your help. Really!!!!!
Pros: Computer program so I could see what I was trying on. Without my glasses on I'm blind
Cons: Closed on saturday, but no big deal. I went on Sunday.

I went into 10/10 looking for an exact replica of my existing LaFont glasses. Ruth sat down with me for 20 minutes and showed me various styles, and using digital photography, helped me compare the styles until we found something that really complimented my face--and it wasn't exactly the same as my glasses now! She was smart, knowledgable, and kind, and I really loved the glasses she found for me. She's a bit assertive-- sometimes she can get so invested on how good a pair looks on you, that she forgets that you're also looking for a style, what face you want to present to people, but as long as you stick up for what you want, she--and all the employees at 10/10-- are real assets to have on your side. Unfortunately, they didn't carry my insurance, but didn't hesitate to tell me the name and model number of the glasses I liked so I could get them elsewhere. I wish I had been able to buy glasses there to thank them for thier time, kindness, and good taste!
Pros: the digital photography comparison was priceless, staff knowledgable
Cons: didn't carry all insuances

Really nice people helped me get the glasses that I was always afraid to get. They are so cool. I needed to think about it because it was so different from the glasses that I always get, and they wrote the info down and I left to think about it. When I came back.......the optician who helped me actually remembered the frame that she showed me and I knew that it was for me. I'm bringing my partner here. She needs a makeover too!
Pros: This computer moniter so I could compare and contrast the frames that I tried on
Cons: closed saturdays, BUT they were open Sunday.

Hey guys, thanks for sending my postcard to remind me that it was time for me eye exam. I almost forgot that you had moved from 5th Ave/22nd Street to Madison/26th. I cannot believe how nice your new digs are. I mean really, I could just hang out and get my glasses adjusted all day and watch the park view and the people coming in and out. I have been seeing Dr. Rozenberg for my eye exams for years but you always keep it so fresh. Promise me that you'll always be in NYC so I have great place to get my glasses. I love you guys!! (BTW the Shake Shack in the park is such a plus).
Pros: They tell the truth and they have this computer screen so I can see myself try on glasses
Cons: not even one!

My ophthalmologist told me that I couldn't wear my contacts for a few months. I had an infection from my contact lenses and I needed emergency glasses that i could wear to work ASAP. CitySearch lead me to 10/10 OPTICS . I normally would ask a friend for a referral but there was no time. I can't see without contacts and my glasses were old and I need them to drive. I called up the optician there and they were so nice on the phone that I decided to give it a shot. They hooked me up with a great frame, thin lenses and a new coating that makes my lenses look almost invisible. They did this in less than 3 days. I never had glasses that I wore in public that looked nice. I think I look better in them than without them. I can't believe it. THANKS 10/10. I LOVE MY GLASSES ;)
Pros: Great advice, really cool selection, nice staff
Cons: none

The other posters were right about this place, they are incredibly pushy when it comes to buying some of their frames. The women were nice, but once they realized I wasn't going to pick a frame on the spot and wanted to look elsewhere before making a decision, they seemed to lose interest. They also forgot to give me my prescription and I had to go back and ask them to write out and not keep it in a folder for when I came back.
The doctor was very chatty and easy to deal with, the only problem was that I felt the exam was very rushed. I had a gut feeling I should have my eyes reexamined somewhere else, but went ahead with their prescription and bought glasses somewhere else. Just as I feared, the prescription was off and now my new glasses are nowhere near as clear as my old ones!
Pros: Chatty doctor
Cons: rushed exam, pushy salespeople

I am a physician from California, and I regularly fly into NY to see patients. Whenever I am in town I stop at 10/10 to get all my previously purchased glasses adjusted (I'll only let their opticians touch my specs) and sometimes get something new and terrific. My last pair were OUTSTANDING!!!!! I have never had such light weight glasses. (Ruth, you were right. I got lots of compliments on the color). I don't know how they do it!! The lenses weigh nothing. Dr. Rozenberg said that I didn't need a change of Rx or I'd have gotten more. Thanks guys! You're all the best!
Pros: Open Sundays, great for after brunch visit
Cons: ZERO!

I've been wearing glasses since 4th grade. I never really hatd them but I definately never loved my glasses, UNTIL now!! A friend told me about 10/10 but I didn't belive her until I went in last week. They were SSSOOO nice. After my eye exam (my contacts were killing so they fixed that) I was just going to look at the glasses and shop around, but they showed me really great ones so I got them and they were ready in a few days and I LOVE THEM!! I vote for 10/10 OPTICS!
Pros: Clean and fashionable. Friendly, not pushy
Cons: ZERO!

Call off the hounds - you've finally found the right place for spectacles. The eye exam from Doctor Rozenberg was thorough and precise. The frame selection was vast and Jesus (the optician) helped me every step of the way - he was my optical saviour. I can never find frames that work on me and I actually found 4 pair here that l could finally feel good about wearing. I settled on 2, one sunglass and one clear. They came out great and, here's a treat ... I CAN SEE ! Check out their Oliver Peoples - that's what I got.

At a friend's suggestion, I went to have my eyes examined at 10/10 Optics. Dr. Rozenberg not only spent an inordinate amount of time examining my eyes until he was satisfied with the lenses I would need, but when I told him that I do a significant amount of work at my computer, he told me about eyeglasses that were "computer-friendly" and that would enhance my computer experience. He was so right. In addition, the staff was incredibly patient. I must have tried on two dozen frames before deciding, with their help, on a pair of frames that really fit my face and my personality. The only way to describe the difference between other places I had used in the past and 10/10, is to make an analogy between an ordinary dining experience and going to a fine restaurant. Everyone at 10/10 was knowledgeable, friendly and courteous. The staff seems to truly enjoy working there and working with the customers.
Pros: Friendly, helpful, courteous
Cons: none

I had a great computerized exam with Dr. Rozenberg. My prescription changed. I bought 2 pair of new specs. Selection was great. I got a pair of retro like frames in an amazing dark green color...with lenses only $170. For the quality of frame and lenses I thought that was a bargain. Then I got an expensive pair; a wood frame that is to die for with anti smudge, anti dirt, anti scratch and anti reflection. There was no hard sell. When I was unsure about the wood frame, Ruth told me to go home and think about it, and I did. They suggested I use my old frame for sunglasses because they were in good shape and that would save me money. I was prepared to buy new sun frames! Great experience and I get referral cards that can get me free glasses.
Pros: great staff and environment, great product, no hard sell like most opticians
Cons: closed Saturdays, but they are open on Sundays

I have been a customer with 10/10 Optics for the past few years. I have consistently found the store atmosphere to be warm and inviting. The sales associates are a pleasure to deal with, they always take the time (no matter how long it takes me) to assist me in picking out the proper eyewear to match both my personality and appearance. They don't push me to make a quick decision and I have always found there to be an ample selection to choose from.
I personally look forward to continuing my relationship with 10/10 Optics, and I encourage others to visit them as well. You will leave a satisfied customer.

I've been going to 1010 optics since 1995. I was recommended them after a bad experience with a optical chain. Being a graphic designer, my eyesight is very important to me. They have a great selection of unique frames and a staff that has the knowledge and skill to get you the best frames for your lifestyle. I love 1010 Optics, I won't go anywhere else the quality of care I've received has been exceptional!
Posted 06/13/06
Ruth spent so much time helping me decide which frames suited my face and coloring the best... I couldn't have asked for more...I'm so glad I happen to wander by 1010 OPTICS. The staff gave honest opinions of which frames worked and didn't. My Oliver Peoples look great...At least that's what everyone tells me.......
Pros: great selection, customer service
Cons: none

Unless you're ready to buy don't bother coming in. (they will not bother with you.)
Sorry
Pros: The place looks nice.
Cons: Unless your ready to buy don't come in. rude-rude
Posted 06/12/06
Dr. Rozenberg was very thorough and personable; he had lots of great stories. Maybe his extraordinary people skills showed up the opticians on staff, but I felt they were apathetic and not very knowledgeable. I went somewhere else for glasses (the #2 Best Of listed on City Search) and was very happy to have split my business.
Pros: Eye doctor great, prices reasonable during sale
Cons: not so great customer service

I used to buy my glasses at Costco thinking that there really isnt a difference between Costco and other places. How much difference in a lens could there be? Well, LOTS. Having bought both sunglasses and glasses at Costco and 10/10, I was shocked at how much clearer and better fitting the 10/10 glasses were compared to Costco. My sunglasses are now crisp and clear, fit perfectly, and people regularly comment on how cool they are.
I have now bought 4 pairs of glasses and 2 sunglasses at 10/10. The service is impeccable and they work extra hard to ensure that you find the perfect pair of glasses. They have an incredible selection of unique frames which I appreciate. And because of my experience buying glasses there, I switched over to Dr. Rozenberg as my eye doctor and couldnt be happier with his patience, demeanor, and thoroughness. Thanks 10/10.
Pros: great selection, attentive staff, fantastic quality
Cons: some frames expensive

I found 10/10 Optics on Citysearch and was very pleased with my discovery. Service was prompt and attentive. Dr. Rozenberg was a pleasure. Highly recommend to anyone in need of an exam and/or new lenses or frames.
Posted 05/14/06
Everyone in here is ok - but they really sell hard. To pressure you to buy new frames, they tell you about the potential of your existing glasses being broken - with a little sorrowful shake of the head that makes you feel like they've seen so many people disappointed because their glasses were ruined. I now have a $500 pair of specs I will probably never wear because they dont suit my face - I relied on the staff for feedback. I'd recommend you take a friend - just because the glasses are funky, doesn't mean they look good.

After dealing w/ many optical stores over the years, I have finally found an optical home -- 1010 Optics. The stores offers a unique combination of knowledgeable and loveable optical specialists, stylish glasses, and helps find the right glasses to fit your face. I won't go anywhere else...

I have used 10/10 Optics since they 1st opened on 2nd Ave in the late 70's. Dr Rozenberg and Ruth continue to treat each patient/customer as an individual making sure medical issues get full attention with style. Insight with eyesight. I have lived many places since then, but I return to NYC to have my eyes and image maintained at this outpost of caring. We only get one chance at keeping our eyesight clearI've made my choice and feel lucky to have found them each time someone say's, "Where did you get those glassesthey are great," and better yet, I can clearly see who's asking! You won't go wrong, trusting your eye care or your search for 'your special frame' to the health and image savvy staff at 10/10.
Pros: Trained Staff, Problem Solvers, Open Sunday
Cons: Closed Saturday

Ruth and the rest of the staff will fit you with the most fabulous frames you have ever seen. I get compliments all the time on every pair of glasses I have courtesy of their expertise. I would NEVER consider going ANYWHERE else. Girls in glasses are hot. Visit 10/10 and see for yourself!

I hadn't had my eyes checked in over a decde, and I sleep with my way expired contacts in every night, so I needed a thorough professional exam. Dr Rozenberg is excellent and the staff couldn't have be more helpful & tactfully honest in the hour they spent with me picking out my first new pair of glasses in over thirteen years....and if you happen to stay 'till closing, Dan might serve you a treat. ; )
Highly Recommended!

I'm the kind of guy that hates shopping, even for myself. The folks at 10/10 make it a snap. Friendly, helpful people. Good humor in a pleasant atmosphere where I don't have to stress out about which frames to get. They know me and my needs. Dr. Rozenberg makes the eye exam fun - good conversations!
Pros: the people, the service, the products

I've got the kind of job that I always need to look great, with an up-to-the-minute and original presentation. 1010 optics is the place to go to find what I need. The staff takes the time to find the frames that suit my face and style. I'm always getting compliments on my newest eyeglasses.
I also have to say something about the craftsmanship too. Until I found 1010, I didn't have glasses that really worked for me for both driving and close-up work -- with my new progressives, I can do everything. Thanks 1010.

I have always have had such bad experiences with other eyeglass stores. That is until I went into 1010 Optics. Dr. Rozenberg and his staff were personable, friendly and highly experienced. I felt comfortable with my purchases, and I loved that the opticians were so fun and, not to mention, quite good at their jobs. The Dr. made me feel extremely comfortable, and was able to assses a problem that I had, that had gone unnoticed to all other eye doctors! All in all, 1010 is a great place to go, if you are looking for nothing less that top quality service and care!
