Love It!!!  5 Star Rating - World class

By Ellie Rae E.

I go to Olive and Bette's all the time and always find amazing things! Although some of the workers can be rude, you just have to ignore them and politely say, "I don't need your help, I know what I'm buying. Thanks anyway!" They will leave you alone and won't give a hoot what size you are. I would recommend this store to teens over the age of 12 and any girl who is fashion forward!

Olive and Bette's is a tween nightmare and the staff is so MEAN!!!!!!!!!!!!  1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

By ann c.

i live around the corner from this store on spring street and because of its proximity i have shopped there a few times. I have bought a few dresses, some presents and several amazing reversible belts.
the last time i was in - i asked about a pair of jeans- and the sales girl smirked and said - i kid you not - " i don't think we have any jeans in your size" and then she plucked the jeans out of my hands and walked away. i am a size 10-12 and even if i was a size 20 - who deserves to be treated like this?
I had about 2000 dollars worth of merchandise i was going to buy - i just walked out. i guess in these financial times they do not need my business b/c i am too big!!!
luckily i found not only the jeans in my size, but the belts i am so fond of at Bendel's-and their markup is less than olive and Bette's.
whenever the subject comes up - i always tell people to stay away from this store. there are to many great stores in new york - where you do not have to be insulted and over charged.

SoHo store manager is R U D E  1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

By jane l.

I was trying on jeans in the Olive and Bettes SoHo store and being helped by a woman who identified herself as the manager (Erika) She was downright rude, telling me my rear end was "pretty damn flat" and took forever getting me sizes despite the store being the size of a thumbnail. Who knows maybe it was because her rear end looked like you could dock a ocean liner in each individual dimple of cellulite, but for god sakes she was nasty and i left the store feeling really nasty about myself, I recommend staying far far away from spring street.

Hit or Miss  4 Star Rating - Very good

By Christin A. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 2,356

This is an fancy girls and ladies clothing boutique specializing in hip urban wear for people who spend a lot of money for their weekend clothes and who follow trends and what is cool and what is not. This store has some great stuff from fun LA and NYC designers, but also lots of lame trendy stuff which is sure to be out out OUT next season and so therefore not worth the price they are selling it for (like fruit pebble color UGG boots). Be cautious shopping here.

PROS: Good selection, top brands
CONS: sometimes way too trendy and high prices
