East West Living

East meets West in a pretty interesting way. East West books carry all types of eastern books so that citizens of the Western world can learn about the east without having to leave the wild wild west. Some of the eastern books they carry cover subjects such as Buddhism and Neo Confucianism. Very cool.

They have an outstanding selection of books on many topics such as social issues, astrology, Eastern religions, philosophy. They have a very helpful sales staff and the prices are fair, not too expensive. They used to have a store on the upper West side but they closed it. It is worth the trip to 5th Ave. They also have a lot of referrals for people who do non-traditional healings, tarot readings, and many other services.

East West Books has an interesting selection of books for sale. They have a great inventory of Eastern Religions material, a strong astrology section and a Woman's Studies Section that is also pretty good. The employees I have dealt with on my two visits were courteous and able to steer me towards what I was looking for rather quickly.

For a nice selection of spiritual reading, try this bookshop.

It usually smells like incense and the staff is extremely laid back. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to flip through the books and get help from the staff.

The self-help section and buddhist section are very good.
