Avanti Nail & Spa

I have been coming to Avanti for manicures / pedicures for two years because it is convenient to my apartment...mediocre and overpriced for the most part.
I was five minutes late for my appointment; the receptionist ignored me for the next five minutes sorting receipts. After which she rudely looked at the clock and said that I was late so they would not honor the appointment; the salon was not crowded.
Never again...I can easily walk two blocks to the next nail salon.

Despite the convenience to my apartment and the appearance of being a respectable salon, I will never go to this salon again. Too many times has my skin been burned while getting an eyebrow or lip wax and my cuticles gashed while getting a mani or pedi. You're playing russian roulette with your skin if you go here.

Well I just got home from Avanti Nail & Spa. It cracks me up how high this place is rated. Must be the proprietors spamming citysearch. I was scheduled for a massaged at 5:00PM Went in, lied down, and 20 minutes later, Michael, the massauer who was assigned to give me a massage still hadn't show up. So I got up and walked out. Turns out he was giving some lady a toe job or something and was like "wah?" as I walked out. This is a pattern of behavior for this place. The only other time I want there for a massage they made me and my fiancee wait 25 minutes for the massages we had scheduled a week in advance. That massage was mediocre. Bottom line: they take walk-ins instantly no matter what and don't respect appointments. Avoid at all costs.

I decided to try Avanti for a gel fill in after reading the wonderful reviews about the spa. Big mistake - not only was the cost ridiculous at $52, but they had only one nail tech who could do a gel fill-in. Within 2 days, the gel was chipping off. I have had gels for about 4 years and have gone to numerous salons. Never once have I had a chipping issue. I believe it's because they only used one coat instead of two. And the chipping was on more than one nail, so it wasn't due to an accident on my part. I did go back and get the first nail repaired, only to have a second chipping off the next day. The people were nice, no problem there, but it's probably best for a basic manicure/pedicure. Go elsewhere for gel maintenance!!

Cons: below average knowledge of gel nails - it shouldn't be offered if they can't do it right!

It was a wonderful experience- quiet, relaxing and it couldn't have been better service. I went in to have a facial (european, w/ a moisturizing mask), and was so impressed with the hour-long cleanse, steam, mask and massage, I couldn't bring myself to leave. The mani-pedi was also wonderful- I never once felt rushed.

I will go back again and again.

I've been coming here for about 2 years now. Great staff members and excellent services. I highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoy nice, quite, and clean spa. Staff members are great and very friendly. Massages and facials are fantastic. Most def go check out this place.

I had a wonderful experience here. I went in for a manicure/pedicure and short massage on a Saturday aftenoon. The staff took their time and did an excellent, thorough job on every service. It was definitely a more relaxing exprience than most salons; the atmosphere was clean, quiet, and inviting. All the staff who worked there were professional and polite. I was very pleased with the results of my mani-pedi and the massage was also excellent. I will definitely go back. Highly recommended!

this place is fantastic. a friend and i stumbled upon it one day in desperate need of manicures. it is right inf ront of a crosstown bus stop which made it convenient. it looks like it is very pricey from the outside, but its only $12 for a mani and well worth it. the staff makes you feel at home, the salon is very clean and has modern decor, and the manicure was perfectly relaxing. i would definately travel across town to go here again!!!

From all the nail salons I've been to this was one of the cleanest environments where i've had a manicure and pedicure. The service was not rushed and very thorough. Everyone at the spa was very friendly and courteous. i completely recommend this spa to everyone.

I went there for pedicure. they didn't understand what I was asking for and my pedicure was so fast I got my pedicure done in 20 min. it was real bad one. she rushed me out. and I really didn't like that men at the reception. he shouldn't be there he dosen't even understand what american manicure is......

I originally went to Avanti because it was so close to my apartment and I was pleased with my first visit. But when I returned agian for a the same half hour foot massage I got a different technician and the expierence was horrible. I had to ask her to cut the massage down to twenty minutes because it was painful. There was no massaging involved, it felt like I was paying a cat to rub lotion on my legs. I left with scratches down my legs because the woman was digging her nails into me. I let the management know how unhappy I was with the service and they did not seem to care that I was given such poor service. I will never go back.

After enjoying an excellent pedicure. I tipped the woman what I thought was reasonable. While drying my nails the manager approched me (in front of other customers) with an envelope insisting that I didn't leave enough tip for the woman and asking me to leave more. I am not a cheap person and have no problem spending $50 on a pedicure. If I didn't leave enough tip it was not out of malice, but it also is my choice.
If they don't treat the customers with respect and use better judgement in handling the clients they will loose more! There are several other great nail places to patron.

Avanti nail & spa is very clean, staffs are nice and curtious and the price is not as expensive as other Manhattan spas. I've had the best treatments ever. I've gotten Facials, Manicures, Pedicures, and Massages and I love'em all and I recommend it to everyone out there looking for a spa. Only bad thing I can say about that place is if I dont call and make an appointment I have to wait. Other than that I LOVE THAT SPA.

Much more than your usual nail spa. I had been going to Avanti for manicures and pedicures for over a year (the best in town). Today I had my first facial there (with seaweed wrap), it was fabulous. Jin was my facialist, she was knowledgable, professional and gentle yet thurough. I will definitely be going back to her. My husband had a full body massage there and said it was the best he has ever had. I would highly recommend trying these services at Avanti, you won't be disappointed!

I went and visited Avanti Nail & Spa and it was an absolutely unforgettable experience. The decor was marvelous and all the staff were so kind and coureous. Up til the moment I left, they treated me with the best service. I loved it~!
