The team at Mama Rao's helped me plan my husband's surprise party of 50 people with less than 2 weeks notice! It was so much fun, everyone had a wonderful time. The food was perfect. I could not thank them enough. We will never go anywhere else for a family get together.
Oh, and the lemon cookies served for dessert made at the restaurant are unforgettable. They are also sold at the local delis all along Bay ridge and Bensonhurst. They are worth every calorie!

My family and I had our daughters 1st birthday at Mama Raos. It was not a good experience. I don't think the kithcen was able to cater to a party of our size. we had 55 people there and all of our courses were served late. What should have been a 4 hour affair turned out be a 6 hour disaster. The main courses were served cold and we felt like we were rushed out of there when the food finaly arrived because they had to set up for another party. Sal who i think is the manager is nice and kept apoligizing for the ordeal however it was beyond his control.
I am sure that if it was smaller party they would have done a better job.
I WILL NOT BE RETURNING.

I am going to start off by saying - AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We had a party for my daughter's college graduation and it was truly a memorable experience. The food was excellent! The service was excellent! Sal is great! and the pretty girl tending the bar is great too!
In all of our experience having parties at restaurants, this was by far the best! We had never been to Mama Rao's and booked the party solely on the opinion of friends. Most of our family is very fussy about food, but no one complained that night. My family has not stopped calling to let us know what a great time that they had. Not only was the food exquisite, your staff was attentive to our guests and your restaurant is impeccably clean. I will recommend this place to everyone. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks again for a great time and we will be having more parties at Mama Rao's. P.S. the lemon drop cookies are to die for!!!

We had our son,s Michael's Communion party here and it was GREAT!!! The food was fantastic the service was incredible and the my guest all left totally impressed. Sal thank you so much for making this special occasion so memorable. The pride you have in your restaurant not only shows through the great food you serve, but in the way it is so well maintained and clean. I just got home from the party, it's 12:30am now and I'm so happy the way everything went I had to tell somebody. So I decided to write this review. I'll see you next year for my other son's Communion party!

Oh my goodness!!!! Must try this place because you are guaranteed to go back! Mother's Day turned out great! My mom had a great time and felt like she was back in Italy! The food was excellent and the service was amazing. I truely felt at home. It may have been crowded, but the staff was on their game. loved it, loved it, loved it!
PS The expansion is beautiful - A must go see!

We came to Mama Rao's for mother's day and just want to say what a horrible experience it was. We have been coming there for a few years now and this was by far the worst. The prices were so outrageous for 11ave and the portions were so small, I walked out of Mama Rao's starving. My $20 penne vodka was a disgrace and my dads $39 steak was even worse. The food was thrown at us so fast, the mothers at the table didnt even get a chance to enjoy their day. Thanks for nothing.

Baby Shower at Mama Rao's‎ - Rosalie‎ -
I just had a baby shower here hosting more than 50 people. Best decission I made. The food was excellent. The waiters were on their game and Sal, the owner was there to see that everything went well. He is a great person to do business with and goes above and beyond his promises. My sister also had her husbands 50th birthday here hosting over 100 people.It was great as well.
It will definately be one of my favorite restaurants from now on. Thanks again Sal. Roe G

we had my mom's birthday dinner there. the food, the service, everything was fabulous. even though they had other large families there at the same time, we were treated like we were the only ones there. i can't say enough good things. the owner, sal, was born to be in this business. his personality is contagious and you can see it in each of his employees.

I've been coming here for about the last 2 years or so. Sal is the best as owners go and the food and service are fantastic! I love Sal ! he makes me and my family feel at home. The lemon drop cookies are to die for ..... but don't tell anyone about this place - I want to keep it secret!

I can't believe what a great place this is. I first came upon it for my daughter's Confirmation party. The owner Sal made me feel so comfortable eventhough I had forgot to call him with the final count. He was so accomodating as well as the staff. Everyone at the party said that their food was excellent. The service was so outstanding that my husband and I went back to the restaurant for our Anniversary and were equally satisfied with the food and service. Thanks to Sal and his staff for a great party for my daughter and his continued success with the restaurant. The Marino Family

This place is the "Best Kept" secert in Brooklyn. The owner Sal makes you feel right at home and the food is fantasic. I don't even want to write this review since I'd like to keep this treasure to myself.

This is my second review for this restaurant. I still think it is a pretty good restaurant, but the last three times I've been there I have been disappointed. I really want to like the place. Sal is a great guy, but I feel that the addition to the restaurant has taken away from its charm and professionalism. In Feb. 2007, they opened a space next to the main dining room that had been another store. It is a great place for showers, large parties, etc.., but they also use it as an overflow dining room. If you get stuck here, you might as well leave. The service is awful. My husband and I were there for Valentine's Day in 2/07. We had 7:30 reservations and left, without eating, at 9 because they couldn't get their act together. Granted, Sal called us twice during the week to apologize, and we did give him a second and third chance, but it didn't get much better. I think if you go, and you get lucky to be seated in what they now call the private dining room, you'll still be in for a treat. If you go on a holiday or anytime there is a crowd, forget it. Last time we went (Easter), my sister ordered a pear salad. It took an hour for her salad -- and everyone else's appetizers to come - because they had to send someone out to buy the pears! For goodness sake, couldn't you just let us know that. And because it was a prix fixe meal, they would not substitute pasta for the potatoes that came with the veal marsala. This is an Italien restaurant, isn't it? BTW, the veal was very good. Honestly, they never should have expanded. I don't think I'll go back. It depresses me to think of what could be. Sorry Sal.

This restaurant is so pretty, cozy and clean! I love it! The food is outstanding and the service is excellent! I had a party there last weekend and turned out great! They did an excellent job! I was very satisfied and can't wait to go back.

WOW!WOW!WOW! THE FOOD WAS FANTASTIC. THE SERVICE FROM THE YOUNG MAN LATER TO FIND HE OWNED THE PLACE WAS UNBELIEVABLE. HE IS SO GRACIOUS AND PLEASING.HE TAKES GENUINE PRIDE TO NEEDS.
