Only go here with thick skin. These people are rude and insulting. They act sweet until they've made the sale, once they have your money they turn on you. They insulted practically ever member of my bridal party. They called one fat& told another she had no behind- both in regard to trying to cover up their own mistakes. (ordering wrong size & not hemming the dress)
I went for my 2nd fitting- after a number of alterations were done & the sales woman didn't want me to try on the dress- when I insisted she then tried to have me try it on without my slip. Then as I got changed into it, she basically just watched instead of helping with it at all. She refused to go downstairs to get my veil snd let me try it on all together out of sheer laziness.
Everyone insisted I hire their "dresser" for the day of- to come to the house & get me dressed because my dress has a corset tie up back that needs to be tied and the ties show so they have to lie flat- it actually sounded like a great idea & would have been if she hadn't created more problems than she fixed. The dresser, by the way, is the owners daughter. She brings her steamer to get out any wrinkles that may have occurred bringing the dress home- as it was plugged it the absent minded dresser held it practically in my face resulting in the curls in my hair to fall. She then snapped at me for "letting the hair girl leave" before I was ready to leave for the church. What would she have said if I had gone to a salon to have my hair done? Basically, these women are a bunch of unprofessional, pushy, rude saleswomen. They do have beautiful dresses in the store, but if you can find your dress elsewhere- I highly advise you to go anywhere else. There was a problem every step of the way.

Horrible Store, stay FAR away
What a disaster!! The sales people were nasty and lied to me. They ordered my dress 4 sized too big to overcharge me, and then overcharge me again for alterations!! The seamstress is incapable and ruined the dress!! The staff continuously eats upstairs, and talks loudly about the customers!!They are over priced and incompetent!! The owner and her daughter were especially nasty. I actually had to purchase another dress elsewhere because the dress I got at angel bridal was not wearable!!! They could not care less! They also made terrible remarks about my religion right in front of me!! My friend also had problems as they actually ordered her the wrong dress! When the denied it she showed them a picture she had taken with her phone and they laughed at her!!! Avoid this sore. It should be closed!!

This place does not even deserve one star. They are as sweet as pie until they make their sale. Then it is all downhill from there. Rude people and they do not know left from right. They order the dresses way too big so they can charge more

To all you Brideszillas.. I bought my wedding gown at Angels Bridal 6 years ago. My consultant was Millie, I was so happy that I went there she chose a gown for me and it was perfect. The day of my wedding she came and dressed me and made sure my bridal party was dressed and perfect.. Now my cousin is getting married in 2012 and I am taking her there.I just found out that Millie is back and I can't wait to not only see her, but to see what she picks for my cousin.. I know not every place is perfect, but for me I had a great experience and memories of the day that I said Yes to the Dress.. Thanks again 6 years later to Millie and the staff at Angels Bridal....

I am the owner of Angels Bridal and would like to make a rebuttal regarding some of the harsh reviews of my store, If I did anything to harm anyone in any way, it was never done intentionally and I apologize. I am a business woman a long time & I take my business personally, because this is the way I work. If I come across pushy it is ony because after 30 years in the bridal business I have knowledge of style and design and know what works. My goal is to make the customer look beautiful. I want to send them down the aisle looking like a princess for their very special day because I get great satisfaction in making the brides look picture perfect. I take pride in my customer's appearance and the overall picture is a reflection not only my business but me personally. Most of my business is from word of mouth, and we have done whole families, cousins, generation to generation. It was always my dream to make brides look beautiful and if sometimes I am over anxious it is only because I want the customer to see what I see. I worked very hard to build up my business and I know you can't please everyone I like to think my staff and I try very hard to accommodate everyone.they do an excellent job and are 100% for the customer. My seamstresses are professioinal and do excellent work. So in closing let me say don't judge a book by its cover, come in and see us and judge for yourself. Thank you -

I wish I could give it zero stars! I have been there 2 times. I bought my wedding dress there and they were nice I never experienced any rudeness but they messed up my alterations. They put the buttons for the bustle in the wrong places

Where do I begin... I'll start off with the good.
1) I walked in without an appointment and they let me try on dresses (the place was empty).
2) I found 2 bridal gowns that I loved.
Now for the bad. I walked over to this place from House of Trends, I was doing a bridal contract there for my hair, so when I walked into the bridal store I still had the contract in my hand. It was too big to put in my bag so when I sat at the desk and spoke to the owner of Angel's Bridal I placed the contract on the desk next to me. While I was speaking to her she asked what the contract was, I told her it was from Trends that I just booked my appointment for my wedding day. She reached over and grabbed and started reading through it!!!! She didnt even ask, didnt say oh can I see that or do you mind?? Nothing!!! All my info was on the contract, my credit card number, etc, and she was reading page by page as if it were for her. Then she called over another person to look at it. The two of them began to make fun of and mock some of house of trends policy's. (house of trends is an amazing place and angel bridal has no right to critisize with the shithole they run) This was private info of mine that was none of their business. Then when they were done, she tossed the book back onto the table. Didnt hand it to me or place it down on the table, she literally chucked it. I was shocked!!! Im a very mouthy person and have no problem telling someone where to go. But, I was so taken back by her rudeness that I didnt say anything at all (shame on me for not saying anything) The bridal attendant who helped me was the daughter of the rude owner. She came with me into the fitting room and gave me a dirty slip to put on under the dresses. And the fitting room didnt have a chair or a hook for me to put my clothes. My clothes were lying on the floor. I tried a few dresses on and her mother started telling her what dresses to give me. The daughter got annoyed with her and was like "maaahh maaah alright already maaahh" I had to listen to them bicker back and forth. When I was done with all the dresses the bridal attendant came in the room to help me out of the last dress. As I'm standing there in my bra and underwear she walks out of the fitting room and leaves the door wide open! For those who haven't gone to this place, the fitting room is right in front of the giant window that looks out onto Amboy Rd! Yes, there are mannequins infront of the windows, but you can still clearly see out into the street. I got dressed, left, and have no intensions on returning. I consider myself lucky after reading the other horror stories on the this review site and I'm thankful I didnt end up ordering anything from that place. I would never ever recommend this place to annoy. The best is that I was warned by two friends not to go to this place but I decided to go anyways. They are rude and very unprofessional!

If I could give give less stars I would! I was one of three in the bridal party getting my dress from Angel's Bridal. Mine was the bridesmaid dress, so it was different in style, but not color, from the other two dresses. We all knew what we wanted going in, so we looked at the dresses, tried them on, and placed our orders 6 months in advance. All of the employees were rude and seemed frazzled - they weren't busy at all, it just seemed like they didn't know what they were doing. We paid our deposits and inquired about the timetable for alterations and final pick-up. The receipts were all correct - correct style numbers and color codes. They told us to expect the dresses to be available for fittings and alterations in 10-12 weeks. They never called me, but I called in week 11 and found that they had arrived. I tried to schedule a fitting immediately, but they told me to wait because there was plenty of time until the wedding and they were very busy at the time. I said ok, and they scheduled me for a fitting 6 weeks before the wedding. When I went in for the fitting, I waited in the dressing room for my dress to be found, while the majority of the staff was eating (at 11am?) in the adjacent kitchen (right next to where they keep the dresses and do alterations - having to pass through the kitchen area with dress in hand). When they brought my dress in, I saw that it was the wrong style. They pretended as if it was one of the other bridesmaids' dresses from my group, but after some searching and frantic conversations between employees, they acknowledged that they had ordered the wrong style for my dress. Since the wedding was only 6 weeks away, they could not order the correct style in time. (If I had gone in for a fitting when I wanted to, they would have had time.) So unless I wanted check every dress shop in the area to see if they happened to have the exact style and color I wanted, I was stuck with this dress.

When I went for the second fitting, they brought my dress into the room (again after leaving the kitchen, where again, numerous employees were eating - at 3pm? Seemed like they ate all day...) and the woman who took the plastic off got whatever was on her hands on the dress. She claimed it was just water and said it would dry.... oh good... Thanks for being careful.

They pinned it for final alterations, and told me I could pick it up next week, and then told me to pay my balance! HA! I said I would not pay the remaining balance on a dress that I did not order, and they proceeded to argue with me about that. I had already paid a $100 deposit (which, as I found through online searching, covered the cost of the dress, and then some) and I told them that they should be refunding me the deposit to make good on their mistake. Nonetheless, I did not pay anymore money, but they kept the deposit.

For all other brides and bridesmaids out there - buy your dresses online!!! You can buy directly from the manufacturer at cost, have it shipped to your house, and pay less for alterations by taking the dress to your local dry cleaners.

I have been to Angel's Bridal three times as a Bridesmaid and have not had a good experience. All Three times I have been there Rae has been our consultant and I have to say she is great. However, the owner does not know how to manage her business. The first time I was 1 of 4 bridesmaids after our gowns came in and we were told to call a month before the October wedding for our fittings we called before the one month mark knowing it would take more then one fitting(at least 2) and they kept telling us to call back. Needless to say two weeks before the wedding we were running around looking for a seamstress because they had no appointments available. The second time I was 1 of 6 bridesmaids. We were told because the bridal party, bride and family all got their gowns at Angel's we would not have to pay for fittings, they charged my sister $65 for her first fitting and it took them 2 weeks to refund her credit card because when they went to do it the first time they actually charged her again. When we went to pick up the gowns for this wedding we were told we could not take them out of the bag untill we got home. We checked them out as best we could but we got home there was blue pen ink going down the front of my dress and one other dress. We were told to take it to a cleaners they were no longer responsible. And on my last fitting I was waiting to be put in a room and the kitchen is next to where they altler the gowns. There is the brides dress her fitting was a day before mine and its hanging next to the kitchen where the owner is frying onions. The third time they ruined the brides gown she had detailing on the bottom and instead of heeming it from the waist they cut the bottom ruining all of the detailing which made the dress they also refused the bridesmaids fittings. Now I am getting married and believe me I will not be stepping foot in Angel's Bridal!!

I took my maid of honor and one bridesmaid (out of 2) here to buy their dresses for my wedding. I had already picked out the dresses from a magazine and I just wanted the girls to see them in person and try them on, so we were pretty quick. My maid-of-honor was to have a separate dress, but in the same color as the 2 bridesmaids. Everything was ordered that day (6 months prior to Sept 1 wedding). The dresses were due to come in end of June. When they got the call that the dresses were in, my maid-of-honor (sister) called to have a try-on date and they stated that it was a busy time for them, so as long as she came in about 4 weeks prior to the wedding, all would be fine. My sister thought that was ok. When she went for the try-on, she realized that they had ordered the wrong dress and it was the same as the other bridesmaid's dresses!! They realized it was their mistake, but it was already too late to order a new dress in time for my wedding, because it would take at least 4 weeks to have it delivered. My sister was of course angry and didn't want to pay the balance on the dress she didn't want but HAD TO TAKE, and their answer was, "well, you don't have to take this one, so you have to pay the full amount", and "well, you do still have a dress to wear". Plus, they wanted her to pay for alterations!!! The low-lives that worked there were very rude, and I would never recommend them to anyone. When we went to pick up the dresses after the last fitting, they were trying to be so nice, "ooohing" and "aaahing" but the damage was done. That wasn't the dress we ordered. God forbid they made that same mistake with someone's WEDDING dress, would they have treated their customer the same? The whole point of the business is ORDER the dress I want, I pay you, and you GET ME the dress I want. Unfortunately, they couldn't deliver.

If I could give this store -10 stars I would. I called them for my daughter for a little information and have never been spoken to so rudely by a customer service person, I mean if you answer the phone you deal with the public, right? Well this "lady" sounded like she was to busy doing her nails and chewing gum to answer a few important questions about the merchandise. If you are spending money, you need answers! This place was more like I should have felt privileged that they even answered the phone!!! Well I know where I & MY DAUGHTER WILL NOT BE SPENDING ANY MONEY!! They should remember this is a recession and there are plenty of quality customer care people in the same field, wake up Angels Bridal of Staten Island, your not the only fish in the bridal sea!!

my cousin ordered her bridal gown and our bridesmaid dresses here. on the day of my fitting i felt that the dress they ordered was too big. for my first fitting i walked into the dressing room and brought my mom with me because she used to sew clothing and dresses. in walks the owner. i put on the dress and it is HUGE. the owner (who insisted on doing my fitting in place of the seamstress) wanted to attach the spaghetti straps to a dress that was too too big on me to make her alterations easier. i told her i did not want the straps and that i wanted the dress to fit me properly. she made every excuse to not alter the dress to my satisfaction. she said my strapless bra was making the dress sit weird (i had no bra on), she said that it was an a line dress and that it is supposed to be big (we wound up taking off 8 yes 8 inches off of each side of the dress) when my mom and i were telling her how we felt that the dress was still too big she said to her workers to put on the receipt that we are making it too tight and that my zipper would pop (even with the taking in i could still fit my entire fist down my dress). when she decided that she was done with the fitting ( i still was not satisfied) she left my room and started cursing and yelling and talking about my dress fitting to her workers. when i told her that i was just engaged myself and i would NEVER recommend Angel bridal or EVER go there myself Maryann changed her tone and said to start over I told her it was too late. I wound up picking up my dress the next day and taking it to another seamstress. Avoid this place at all costs! i have no idea how they are still in business with treatment like this from the owner!!!

THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE!!!!! My bridesmaids got their dresses here. They made so many mistakes with the order. When the dresses finally came in it wasn??t exactly what we asked for but we had no choice to keep it because there was no time to shop for another dress. The salon insisted on ordering the dresses 3 sizes too big and charged extra for material that has to be cut off anyway. They had no remorse for their mistakes whatsoever. The staff was so rude and nasty to us. Definitely not a good place for a bride that is already feeling stressed. I would not recommend this bridal salon to anyone. It??s a shame that these women are still in business.

I hated this place. They trick you into liking it by being so overly nice the first time you go there. They were nice to me when they thought I was buying my wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses. I was trying to get a final price for the bridesmaid dresses since I had 7 girls and they were like we'll discuss once you pick YOUR dress. Finally I was like I don't think I'm getting my dress here. the owner got real moody then. However, they were so nice in the beginning I still went with them for my girls. THEY WERE SO MEAN TO THEM EVERYTIME. Lied about appointments not being available (then the store was empty when we arrived), would not ship the dress to two girls who lived far away. They had to pick them up in person even though they weren't getting fitted there. They were not flexible at all for anything.

This place is the WORST! The staff is super snobby and pushy. They lie through their teeth! I found the same dress elsewhere for half the price. They are overpriced and overrated. I would avoid them at all costs!

Best experience ever! I just recently purchased my wedding gown there with the help of Theresa and I could not have been any happier. She let me try on as many dresses as I liked, never rushed me. I felt so comfortable there, every women that works there is extremely nice and helpful. I was so impressed with Angel that I went back for my bridesmaid dresses. I had Theresa again, and that went just as great as picking out my bridal gown. I have seen some negative reviews about Maryann, and they are just harsh and wrong, She is a wonderful women.

I purchased my wedding gown from Angel Bridal at their new location 5488 Amboy Road. The store is beautiful and clean. The staff was extremely helpful and pleasant. Rae helped me find the perfect gown for me and I couldn't have been happier. My bridal party also bought their gowns there and were very happy. My alterations were flawless and because I had a couture dress the bustle had to be done differently. MaryAnn the owner worked with the seamstress personally and bustled the gown different ways until I found the bustle I was happy with. I would highly recommend Angel Bridal.

November 2009, I visited their new address on Amboy Road and the store was clean and well organized. The Staff were all very friendly, helpful, and patient. The dresses were reasonably priced. I tried on beautiful wedding gowns, which none were over $1500! Would strongly recommend this store!!!

staff rude; not helpful; mean; terrible experience
I went here looking for a wedding dress; i was very specific with what kind of dress I wanted. The woman kept bringing me out dresses that were not at all what i asked for and then complained behind my back i did not know what i wanted! My friend overheard employees talking about me when i was still in the store! unbelievable. After about the fifth dress i tried on, the woman starated to get nasty with him huffing and puffing; i kept letting her know i wanted an empire waist and she'd bring me out natural wasted dresses. I had a terrible experience here and my previous experience trying on dresses at another place on staten island was actually fun and enjoyable. I would not go back here and would advise anyone i know to stay far away

First off this place is overpriced but what store isn't. The staff is RUDE and STUPID! I got a bridesmaid dress there which they ordered in a size 10 for me even though I told them I was pregnant and needed at least 2 sizes bigger by the time of the wedding. PS I had to switch with another bridesmaid whose dress they ordered too big for her. The staff was rude about my weight gain. Then they told me the dress fit me fine when I went for the fitting and its too big - passable but too big. Why? Because the lazy staff did not want to do alterations. They charged my friend the bride for her alterations and she's the only one who got alterations. Just skip this place - not worth the trouble!

There is absolutely no craftsmanship when it came to quality sewing or altering.I purchased my wedding gown there and was horrified to see the condition of the place when I pulled up.Scared silly,I went in still. The DUMP looks like it has been foreclosed on and is filthy, surrounded by ply-wood and make-shift walls, not unlike a slum in Africa ! Rags on the windows and the sidewalk is filthy, too. Some lesbian was there helping but she was not that helpful either.Still I purchased it and was never happy. The tailoring was sloppy and it looked second-rate for what I paid. BEWARE !!!!

My sister in law got both her wedding dress and our bridesmaids dresses there, they were wonderful. Therefore when my sister got married we got dresses there as well. They are very helpful, kind, and really care what you like. i would recommend this place to any bride. :)

My friend got her wedding gown there, Rae was very helpful and stayed with her the whole day and let her try on almost every dress in the store until she found the perfect one. When it came to bridesmaids dresses they were not as helpful and when we went to make appointments for our fitting they said that they were already overbooked and that they could not fit anyone of us in for a few weeks that was a HUGE problem because the wedding was before the "available dates" that they had given us. So we had to take the dresses elsewhere to be altered, and that was a hassel for everyone.

I visited the store spring of '08....Mary is the most pushy, obnoxious, and rude person I have come across a bridal store. They are very expensive...I found the same thing I went in there for, for half the price elsewhere!

My wedding was this past September and Angels Bridal had the perfect dress for me! The saleswomen where helpful, the dresses were well-made, and the prices were very reasonable. My dress was ready on-time and altered flawlessly. I would however look elsewhere for your bridesmaid dresses. The saleswomen did not seem as though they wanted to be bothered with my bridesmaids and the alterations were extremely sloppy. My experience was wonderful, but not for my bridesmads.
