As the largest mystery bookstore in Manhattan, we feature a complete selection of new titles as well as a broad array of our recommendations, classics, and out-of-print books. Last year, more than 150 authors visited our store for both readings and casual signings, so many of our books are signed. Other events include live performances of Classic Radio Plays by WWOW Radio Theater troupe and Writers' Forums where panels of writers, editors, and agents share their experiences and advice with you. The SceneAnyone wishing to pen "The Ballad of the Independent Bookstore" would be well advised to drop into this green-carpeted basement bookseller. In addition to striving to be a "full-service crime novel" bookshop, it's also built a robust community of mystery lovers through a comprehensive newsletter, author readings, Saturday night radio plays, and a lending library.
The Goods
The approximately 3,000 square feet of this doublewide brownstone forces its three female owners more into the role of curator than archivist, hence their bible project: a permanent collection of 3,500 must-reads supplemented by new releases and at least ten different types of "recommended" shelves from "Best Cozy" to "Tough Chicks." This friendly staff thinks nothing of putting notes under titles on the shelf and is even more helpful in person.

Are you a mystery lover? Im talking a mystery book lover. If you are, then you need to go to Partners & Crime. They carry a wide variety of mystery titles. Its really a great find. I have been here several times and have always been satisfied. The staff are great and helpful. They are opened Monday through Sunday and accept most forms of payment.

In the mood for a bone chilling mystery? Want a scary pee in your pants I'm not talking about Michael Jackson's Thriller? Partner's & Crime carries some of the best used thriller/mystery books in the city. All the books are used and come at a cheap price. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.

Partners & Crime is one of the four great detective book stores in New York City. They have an extensive selection of detective, mystery, suspense fiction. Anyone who works there really knows there stuff. I've bought two books there and had a good shopping experience both times.

Partners & Crime is another of New York's great mystery, detective and crime book stores. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and the service is great. They have an excellent selection of books and are open late most nights which works out great for me. When you are in the Village definitely drop by here.

Best Bookstore

Best of the best. If you are a mystery fan, this is a visit you owe to yourself. The selection is great, the readings exciting, the staff friendly and interested in finding you a perfect read every time. The store is beautiful and the owners and staff sensational. Too many of these bookstore have perished, but Partners and Crime remains and a loyal clientele will tell you, Long live the specialty bookstore!
P.S. and they have cookies for the dogs too.

Best Mystery Book Store Anywhere

Every time we travel to New York City one of our first stops (and the last before we leave for the airport) is to Partners & Crime. The owners are friendly and knowledgeable and provide excellent service. Kiz Reeves, one of the owners, has been especially helpful and she really knows her stuff. She has been a great resource providing us with suggestions for young readers as well as locating hard to find first editions which she will hunt down for you (she might even have it already!). You can also call in your order from anywhere and they will ship worldwide. They have a great website and the "Partner's Picks" and the "100 Best" are the first areas I go to when I am buying new books for my self, friends and family. If you can't get to NYC to visit this charming book store go to their web site at Crimepays. Crime really does pay when it comes to this great mystery book store.
Pros: In a great part of the village, easy to walk to and comfortable to sit and read a while too.

The real deal.

In the heart of Greenwich Village, take a few steps down to find this gem, new books, favorites. Everything you could hope for if you are a mystery fan. Ask for advice, they are readers too. Oh joy!
Pros: Superb selection.

Partners in Crime is a must destination, with great ambience, great selections and great advice. My mate even went there and got a gift recommendation for me that I loved.
We always go to Elephant & Castle down the street for dinner after stopping by the bookstore. Hope they don't both become crowded with tourists after this!
Pros: great customer service and recommendations
Cons: not always as cheap as the big box stores, but worth the difference

Fantastic book store

Partners and Crime is THE bookstore for the mystery lover/collector. I travel and have been in many stores across the country and this is my favorite store. They have an extensive signed and vintage collection in the basement and book signings all year long. Famous authors and new authors are both welcomed to this little store with a big following, located in the heart of Greenwich Village. They even have a small publishing company that brings back oldies but goodies that may not have seen print type for 20 years. The owners are friendly and will go out of their way to meet your needs. Lee Child, Lawrence Block and Christopher Moore are just three authors they have had there in the last year. You can add your name to their email list and never miss an event. They also sponsor a funky, old time radio show once a month. Check it out!!
Pros: great signings, lots of food and drink at events, famous authors, nice owners
Cons: parking after 6 is free on the street, during the day not so great

Excellent book store specializing in mysteries

Partners & Crime has a wonderful selection of new mysteries from all over the world. They also have the "best 100 mysteries" section that encompasses a fantastic selection. In addition, they have a selection of used mysteries reasonably priced. The readings by known and less well known authors is always welcomed and creates an opportunity to meet with your favorite authors. The staff is knowledgeable and most helpful. This is a fine bookstore for mystery buffs.
