I have gone to Mercy for 3 years, and I can't say enough about it! The teachers are hip and understanding, and they really care about their subjects. The other students are friendly and helpful, and there is hardly any bullying or teasing. The college counselor is great, and most girls get into their top choice. Also, the food in the cafeteria is AWESOME!!!!

I am a current senior at Our Lady of Mercy, and I am extremely pleased with the experience that I have had there:
1) Great Teachers. The teachers have really encouraged me to do my best, and I can't imagine high school without them. They really know what they teach, and are very kind and understanding.
2) Small classes. The classes are very small and, depending on what class you are taking, they range between 8-17 students. This allows for more individualized time with teachers.
3) Good environment. The students are very nice and actually care about the people and the place around them. I have never witnessed any stealing or cheating. If there is a bullying incident, as is to be expected in an all girls school, than the faculty deals with it right away, and it does not happen again. Becuase the class is so small (the maximum is about 150 girls), it allows you to get to know everybody.
4) Good facilities. The facilities here at Mercy are spectacular. There is a newly updated auditorium, as well as a brand-new cafeteria, library/media center, gym, and entrance area that we can use for study halls.
5) Good academics. The academics here at Mercy, as you can see by our test scores, are excellent. There are many different levels of academic ability here, and to accommodate that there are many different levels of classes. If you are falling behind, they have a class for you. If you are average, they have a class for you. If you are very good, they have a class for you. And if you are amazing, they have a class for you. And if you ever have any trouble, you can always turn to the teachers.
6) Good college counselor. The college counselor here at Mercy is great! She is really helping me along with my college choices, and I have already applied to a few different colleges. She helps you decide what you want to do, and how to achieve it. Many girls who just graduated said that she was the reason they got into that great college.
7) Great food. The food here is really, really good! They have a salad bar, pizza, deli sandwiches, popcorn, and soft pretzels available every day, along with the main meal. And on Tuesdays and Thursdays they have pasta with marinara sauce and Italian bread. Mmmm!!!

Overall, I have to say that Mercy is the perfect place for any young women who wants to have a great high school experience that will mold them into independent, smart, and caring women. I loved it, and I know that you would, too.

My four daughters all went to Mercy, and they still won't stop talking about it! They had great teachers who all knew what they were doing, and the classes were small and individualized. One of my daughters was more advanced than most students, and they allowed her to move up through the classes quickly, while ensuring that she understood the material thoroughly. The guidance counselors actually listened to my daughters, and helped them out. One of my daughters didn't have any idea what classes she wanted to take, and the staff helped her decide what she was interested in and what would help her academic career. The college counselor was also very knowledgeable, and helped my daughters to work towards their college goals in high school and in life. All of my daughters got into either their top choice or their second choice. I was very impressed with Our Lady of Mercy and how their high school experience shaped them into independant, mature, and caring young women.

both of my daughters went to mercy and i would not let my third daughter go to mercy. though the classes were small which my daughters liked the teachers we not that helpful. My daughter said her spanish class was in a french classroom. My daughters now go to emma willard private school in nyc. the guidance department wa helpful at all. Another thing was some items got stolen and they did nothing to help. later my daughter saw another girl wearing her sweatshirt. i didnt think that mercy was that good of a school and it was all hyped up to be. I would not recommend this school.

PROS: the school munch
CONS: everything else.
