My fiancee and I recently had an absolutely horrible experience at Buona Sera Restaurant and posted a review on that place.

We both agreed that we should have gone back to Rocco's. So, I'm hear to give Rocco's a very possitive review.

It is a small little place, but the service was quick, friendly and helpful. The food was very tasty. Not the best I've ever had, but very good. And the prices were extremely reasonable. My fiancee and I simply had a very enjoyable dinner at Rocco's.

Well lets start off with the owner and staff, they are just what you would expect from a high end class act Restaurant. I have been coming here since 1995 and the food only gets better and tastier every time we dine at Rocc's. My wife and daughters enjoy the waiters service which is way beyond what they are called to do, they couldn't be any more friendly.
Ok the atmosphere is just want you would see in it Italian restuarants,Ithink Rocco's was a butcher shop or a meat wherehouse before it became a restaurant.
The food is just what you would expect for northern italian cooking as Naples. One of the best items on the menu according to my wife is the rackoflamb chops which she says tastes out of this world.
I myself am a italian boy from bensonhurst who enjoys pasta and plenty of fish. The calamerie from rocco's is one item made better than Moms(dad always said, chew it till no end, taste like rubber) I don't wanna sound like I love this place too much they could have a women hostess besides all the men waiters or a couple of waitresses!
Beyond that this is a great palce to dine with friends kick back have a glass of wine have some calermeria, pasta some clams on the half shell and some main dishes and talk the night away as they don't rush you in Rocco's ever, they might even bring a bottle of annasette for desert! dont forget desert!

Pros: THE OWNER IS ALWAYS THERE THE STAFF IS WONDERFUL

Cons: NO PARKING ITS NEW YORK CITY FORGETABOUTIT

It was okay. For the price paid, it is not comparable to other fine restaurants we have enjoyed more. Perhaps we should give it a second and third try. The wait for the food was long. Wait staffs were good. Food was okay, but not fantastic, for the price paid.

We were a party of six with reservations on a Friday night, but still waited half an hour for a table. I was alright with that, just be forewarned. Loved the bruschetta that they bring to the table. We ordered off the specials and for the most part, they were delicious. Trout was good, so was the gnocci. I had the veal with eggplant and prosciutto, but it didn't seem to have any eggplant on it when it arrived. Somewhat disappointed with that, and also the veal was a bit tough and gristly? The waitstaff was very nice.

An Italian restaurant that never disappoints. There's a reason Rocco's has been here for 80 years. The staff is always friendly and attentive. The food is always well prepared and plentiful. Their specials are truly special. I've been dining here for many years and have never been disappointed. Expect to wait for a table on weekends. Buon Appetito!

I love this place! I have been to this resturant so many times that I've lost count and the experience is always pleasurable. Have never had a problem with any component of my evening when dining here. Food is delicious and the staff is friendly, especially once you become a face they recognize. One of my favorite Italian places in all of the city, including Little Italy!

This place is wonderfully unpretentious. The gorgonzola gnocchi is absolutely delectable, although too strong, too filling and too plentiful a portion for one person--definitely to share. The waitstaff is a bit difficult to understand sometimes when they rattle off the specials, but friendly. Calamari okay.

My girlfriend and I recently just stopped in here for dinner on a Friday night, we originally were supposed to go to Blue Ribbon but they had a 2 hour wait, since we were extremely hungry we wandered a bit and came across Rocco's. I'm always a little leary of trying places I've never been to or heard of but I ended up being very impressed. We were seated immediately and received great service with no rush. We had the Calamari (great sauce) and a chicken and a veal special both of which were very good. So if you're in the area and want some good Italian give this place a shot.

This restaurant was recommended as a humble restaurant with good food. What we got was a restaurant with subpar food and abominable service. The owner would not even allow me to use the bathroom. We had a reservation and I was waiting for the rest of the party and not sure what the name was under. I assured the owner that I was eating at his restaurant but not sure what the name of the reservation was since there was a bunch of us. He would not even let me wash my hands. A restaurant this unfriendly, unproffesional and classless should never be visited. To make matters worse the food was cold and undercooked. I think it is the worst restaurant in Manhattan.

Dropped in for lunch before and thorougly enjoyed it. This time (Sunday evening 2/9) was not memorable. Food ok, but not outstanding. No one orders off the menu, which is part of the fun her. However, "specials" (e.g., swordfish, chicken marsala, et al, were not). Wine over priced for what tasted like standard industrial swill jug stuff.

I dicovered Rocco at my pals Bday party a couple of years ago. And then returning months later, I was shocked to find the staff remembered my name and treated my party like gold. I was hooked. The food is the best and the staff doesnt get any more authentic. Carlos will recommend the fish that was just caught from the sea, or perhaps a nica veal in a burgandy sauce...don't forget the red potatoes. I would have to say the calamari and mussels are to die for..it's true..I killed my friend Joe for his plate! If you are from out of town, please do not come. you will be hooked and probably come back as much as me and take my seat. Rocco is the best. The Best!! No questions asked.

After stumbling upon this quaint spot downtown, we were treated to the best italian food we have ever had. The service was wonderful, not rushed, and ready with excellent recommendations. It's really the food that is the stand-out however. Pure and simple italian food with deep flavor and wonderful presentation. You will love this cute hole in the wall!

This is one of the few "real" Italian restaurants left in Manhattan. It looks and feels like Little Italy (though it isn't there) circa 1900. It reminds me a bit of the restaurant in The Godfather, very old times kind of place.
The menu is limited, but you won't be disapointed with what you order, and the service is very friendly. Try the fried calamari when they have it.
