I have been knitting and crocheting for over 15 years. I love shopping at The Woolgathering because they have a great variety of yarns and also their reasonable prices. They carry one of my favorite cashmere brands and they have it for less than any other yarn store I know.
The personnel is very friendly and willing to help you with your project at no charge.
If you are in the neighborhood don't forget to check out their window, they always have a nice one!

You want to be treated like you are nothing, go here - you're sure to get your wish. I went there to look for something to knit a teddy bear. I wanted something relatively inexpensive, so I told them that, and they were horrible stating that they "don't sell acrylic, only natural fibers" - I didn't remember saying 'acrylic' or man-made of any kind. Out of desperation, I spent 3-4 times the amount I could have spent on something online. I don't ever want to be desperate again.

Pros: Location, hours

Cons: Prices, Staff

I went here on a Sunday afternoon and there was one woman working, she was not helpful at all. After spending a considerable amount of money on yarn, I asked for some knitting advice being that I am a beginner - she made it quite clear that she didn't want to be bothered and turned to "help" someone else. She was very pushy with all of the customers. There is a store credit only return policy which is the only reason I didn't return the yarn which I purchased.

Pros: Open on Sunday

Cons: Rude service, Over priced

I've read negative reviews of this shop, but have had quite the opposite experience. I've visited the shop both during weekdays and on weekends and each time I found the staff friendly and willing to help. I'm not an experienced knitter, yet all my questions from measuring a simple gauge to selecting and estimating alternate yarns for a pattern were answered. I've never experienced any rudesness or impatience from the staff. I find the assortment of yarns they offer to be excellent. I'm not sure which store the other reviewers visited, but it seems to be a very different Wool Gathering from the one I visited.

Outside of just being rude to me, they sold me some Baby Alpaca yarn about 6 months ago under the guise that there were "lots" of free patterns for this online. What I found was there were VERY FEW, if any useful patterns. When I called to see if they could help me either convert a pattern or share one with me from their store, not only were they rude but the woman on the phone actually sent me to a web site that didn't exist for help.

There are too many other great yarn stores in the city to settle for the horrible service provided by this one.

Pros: nice location

Cons: , snobby, for the "expert" only

This space is beautiful! A great big old style window, a spaceous store, ample shelving... However, the people there are extremely rude. I was looking for a specific yarn which they claimed over the phone to carry, but actually did not. Once I realized this, they told me to look at their other yarns. Then they ignored me. Avoid this store at all costs!
