Thanks Don & Merrylynne for the care you gave Scruffy during our vacation. I know he's very spirited & demanding, and the individual time Don spent with him kept him well balanced and content during his stay. Thanks ML for the attention to his meds and grooming. We'll be back for sure next time. - Bill

I love bringing my tabby Ophelia to Pet Estates. The owners always remember her name and put her in a cage that is near a window so she can look outside to the bird feeders. It's so good to know the owner is a nurse and when Ophie had to have meds she was getting them on time. It's always been very clean with no doggie or kittie odors. When we had a dog it was with relief that we could bring her there and know she was in a safe place. She was getting to an outside area every few hours for pooping and exercise. The owners really know how care for the animals.

Once more, Pet Estates has given our Corgie a great stay during our vacation. Don spends time with her, and each of his clients, so she comes back to us happy and well-adjusted. The kennel is scrupulously clean, and the grooming /bathing room is cleaned and disinfected between uses: no doggy odor. The runs and yards are picked up, too. We like it that the place is quiet, and has limited occupancy, with isolation between residents, reducing anxiety, and there is no transmission of crowded-kennel illnesses, like "kennel cough". Service is great, Juliet, our Corgy comes back without stress and CLEAN! Meds and feeding are managed flawlessly. Thanks Don & Merrylynn for the great care and peace of mind.

I have brought my pet to the Pet Estates several times. Each time I paid more than I had anticipated/budgeted. There were a few things I was surprised about. First, the basic rooms the dogs stay in are not that nice for what you are paying for!! Secondly, the owners never seem to talk - you call to make a reservation and it seems they are unclear how long your pet will be staying, and sometimes don't even have you down in the books! Thirdly the play areas for the dogs are rather small, and if you have a medium to large dog they are going to need A LOT more room to play , which means playing in the large yard ... and you have to pay for that! Lastly they do not take debit/atm cards or credit cards -- very annoying.

My last experience with them was Christmas 2006. I put the wrong arrival date down (the owner reviewing the doc did not catch this either)on the sign in paper and was charged for an extra day. I did not realize this until after I had written the check and did not have another one with me. The owner said he would just send a refund, no problem -- well its been 2 months and I finally recieved a call that I am NOT getting a refund!!! I was also called a LIAR on the phone when I called to discuss the situation.

I will NEVER bring my dogs to this place EVER again!

I have since found a VERY nice place in North Carolina to board my dogs while I am traveling. Comparing the two is like comparing apples and oranges. The new place is so professional and really made me realize how poorly run the Pet Estates is!

Pros: you can usually get your dog scheduled in a crunch

Cons: poorly run, customer service poor, little value for the money, generally costs more than anticipated and they don't take debit/atm cards or credit cards-, also very smelly even for a dog place
