In my opinion, this is the best gym in NYC. It has a friendly crowd, a very helpful staff, and it's an easy place to find a workout partner. It is one of two gyms in ny that has a rock climbing wall--much cheaper than spending 50 bucks per day at Chelsea piers.

Manhattan Plaza, while obviously quite expensive, offers a great deal beyond the typical workout. It has an amazing pool, raquetball, and my person favorite, a kick butt rock climbing gym that is way better than most others in the city. Check it out.

Manhattan Plaza Health Club has one thing that I love more than anything. A giant rock climbing wall!!! It's great. You can climb this giant wall while attached to this large rope so if you fall you won't get hurt. They also have the usual treadmills, weights and locker room paraphanelia but I come for the wall. Now the bad news. It's mad expensive!!!
