.

I went to the Blackpearl today and found the experience to be basic. No thirlls, no chills, just plain old basic which is OK for a cheap manicure pedicure.

I tend to lower my bar of expectations for any place in Greenpoint. They are all below the median for acceptability than their counterparts in Manhatan from my experience.

The obligatory massage after both the mani and pedi was really terrible. I wouldn't call it a massage, I'd call it an extremely gently placing of lotion on my hands and feet.

What really got me upset was the pricing. I walked in and saw the sign indicating that it was 18 bucks. Upon leaving I was told it was 20 bucks, because I am a man.

I work in an office, and get manicures and pedicures every other week. I'd say the condition of my nails is pretty good at all times. To be charged extra (especially when I don't get polish, therefore using less time and resources) is disgusting.

There was no sign indicating this and no explanation offered. I am a man. I get charged extra. That's it.

I am always weary of places with undisclosed and hidden pricing policies. Who knows where else they are going to try to rip you off.

I'm going to steer clear of this place from now on.
