I have only ordered take out from Homes. Definitely a big step above from the usual Chinese take out food. Fresh ingredients, nice flavors, not too greasy. Strongly recommend this as a delivery option if you are in the Union Square/Central Village area.

Pros: Above average Chinese food and at the same price as lesser competitors.

Cons: None.

I can't stress enough how good the pumpkin soup was here. I've tried many dishes at this place and I am consistently impressed. The tastes are very authentic, nothing is terribly heavy, and the rice (aka the most important part) is very nice. Fluffy, moist, great.

Pros: Anything with Pumpkin. They know how to cook it.

Cons: Small tables

Go for the Pork with celery and bean curd, accompanied by a simple chinese vegetable dish like spinach and garlic or chinese vegetable. And if you're mandarin chinese or taiwanese, and not wanting to go down to chinatown, this place is a pretty good alternative. Try their Szechuan Beef noodle dish.. not bad at all. It's impossible in the city to find a good bowl of Beef noodle soup.

This is by far the most disgusting Chinese restaurant to which I have been. I work out at Equinox on Boadway and wandered into Home's Kitchen after a workout tonight, The place was empty, so I almost left. I should have. The chicken with Caschews was disgusting. The chicken must have come from a pigeon. It is GROSS!

Just started new job in the area and was in the mood for some cheap chinese food..... u know the kind where the server is behind a plexi window? I couldn't find one and lucky for me, i stumbled upon this place! Ambience not set for romance, but a great lunch spot! Lunch specials come in HUGE portions! I had lunch for 2 days! And the miso soup is very tasty! Definitely am going back! And I don't feel gross after eating their chinese food!

Pros: large portions, inexpensive, friendly staff

.

great garlic sauce at this place, although the hot and sour soup isn't so great.

service can be spotty at times, and if you're a strict vegetarian, sometimes chicken bits sneak in...

but overall, a place worth trying out, and certainly the best place for several blocks around.

THE PORTIONS ARE REALLY SMALL. THERE WAS HARDLY ANY CHICKEN IN MY CHICKEN AND BROCCOLI. PLUS THERE IS NO MEAT IN THEIR WONTONS! IT'S ALL SKIN! THERE WAS NO PORK! LITERALLY! THIS PLACE SEEMS CHEAP BUT THEN YOU REALIZE THERE IS NO MEAT IN ANYTHING AND THE PORTIONS ARE REALLY SMALL. YOU'RE BETTER OFF AT A TAKE OUT CHINESE PLACE!

Staff is unobtrusive and friendly. Food is served extremely promptly and is still very good. It is clean and has a nice decor, with soft colors and a very peaceful feel. Nice lunch break oasis from hectic office hell. Feels a little like the quiet-room from in-school suspension, but in a good way.

I have eaten here a number of times, and the food is consistently good. The service is always very attentive, even during lunch when the place tends to be packed. Dinnertime is slower - you might have the whole place to yourself! I recommend the General Tso's Chicken and the Hot and Sour Soup - both are spicy and delicious!
