Gator's Cigar Shop

I went to Gators after reading the previous review and wanting to try out a new shop. Their selection is relatively small compared with some other stores in the Albany area, but the owner seems knowledgeable. He helped me with my purchase and seemed to know his stuff when helping other customers. His manner was a bit brusque at first, but he was helpful during the sale and seemed likable overall. He said he's been in business for nine years, so he must have something going for him! The atmosphere is one of a comfortable home-town shop, not a super-corporate, high-pressure store with logos all over the place.

The only reason for not giving five stars is that the selection of pipe tobaccos was somewhat limited with two out of the six jars being empty, and the price of pipes was a little higher than I had expected. Not too big a deal, though.

As for cigars, the humidor was also smaller than some that I have seen, but the customers who were buying cigars there while I was there seemed satisfied with what they found there, so I can only assume the selection was good.

Overall, a good choice if you're in the Schenectady area.

My husband is not a big cigar smoker, but when he does he likes to do it right. He goes to Gators cigar shop to get his cigars and has never had a complaint. Our friends that he shares them with are usually impressed with his taste and I even think a few of them have become regulars. Great service and knowledge.
