I wish I did my research before I purchased my dress there, because the customer service is non existing and the owner will lie straight to your face. Making long story short, I was told my wedding gown will come in 5 month, but in actually I have received it a week before my destination wedding. And I have purchased it 8 months in advance. Every time I called I was told it was coming in next week, or that the designer had the factory closed for the Chinese New Year, etc., I mean I heard it all! The worst mistake I did when planing my wedding, was to get my dress from them!

STAY FAR FAR AWAY. Where do I begin? Our wedding is 9/10/11 and I ordered my gown June 2010 just to make sure I had plenty of time for just in case situations. They teased me a little which was slightly unprofessional but what ever. I was excited and I didn't care. In June 2010 they told me that my gown would come in by January 2011. January came and I called them three times to see when I could come in the see the gown. Not one phone call back. Finally I went there in person and they tried telling me that it was backed up from Chinese new year (The dress is made in China) I called her on it and said that can't be because Chinese new year is in February. Without missing a beat she turned the blame on me and told me (I quote) "O no Im sorry the dress hasn't been ordered yet because you didn't leave enough of a deposit. So again I call her on it and showed her the slip she gave me which said client told dress will be in in Jan. She said yes but if you came back to leave more money. I asked why they didn't call me to inform me of this and she said well you still have plenty of time. I left them annoyed and they had told me that my gown would be in by March. So March rolls around and I called twice again no call backs. Finally, the third time I called she told me the dress wasn't in yet but it will defiantly be in by April. So April rolls around and I called again several times and she tells me yet again your dress is not in yet but it will be here by May. Now I'm super pissed! I told her I wanted my deposit back and that I will never be doing business with them again. I was fairly calm saying this despite the situation, however her reaction (Mary, the owner) was completely unprofessional. She started yelling saying that I would have to take her to court. She said that I needed to calm down. What do I care anyway? My dress would just be sitting in the closet until September. I told her it's my dress and if I wanted it to sit in my closet from now until September then that is my business not hers. She had the guts to ask me for more money and again blamed the fact that my dress was delayed because of me. I told her she will not see another penny from me until my gown was in my possession and she hung up on me. Finally May came around I called her almost everyday to see when my dress would come in. First she said Thursday then Friday then Tuesday finally Wednesday came and my dress should have been there around 5. I was there at 430 and waited for my dress to come in. It came out of the box and I went to try it on. She had the nerve to say (I quote) " See there was no need for threats". I said nothing to her because I knew it was going to end badly but seriously I never threatened her. The only thing I said was I wanted my deposit back once my dress was already three months delayed. After I tried on my gown she put it in a plastic bag which had huge holes in it and she gave me a slip which had no string. I seriously could not wait to get the hell out of that place. Talking about being unprofessional even if I didn't have the problems I had with her I would NEVER NEVER EVER bring my two little nieces to her store to look for dresses because the woman is seriously ALWAYS falling out of her shirt. She is about a double F and wears the most inappropriate clothing. I'm not sure what exactly she is trying to accomplish by dressing that way in front of a store full of brides to be but it had a very negative effect on me and I'm sure I'm not the only one who felt that way. Long story short STAY FAR FAR AWAY. Do yourself a favor and go to davids bridal or HOUSEOFBRIDES.COM that is where my bridesmaids found their dresses and I could have ordered mine. Their dresses came in within two and a half months and there is an option to rush the order. Good luck planning your weddings and I hope it's stress free unlike mine.

my sister and I went there today to get a dress for her wedding. the girl Michelle was helpful with putting on the dresses for her. None of the dresses had a price tag on them and she came back with prices that were outrageous. My sister liked a dress a lot that was a Venus dress (i heard michelle mumble the model number to her co-worker) and I google'd the dress to get an idea of pricing. It was priced online for $470, Michelle came back with a price of $1499! i was shocked, she wanted to make a $1000 commission on the dress!!! my advice is to do your homework on different dress manufacturers to have an idea of pricing before you go there, they will overprice the dresses lovely

This was a horrible experience; very unorganized !! they ordered the wrong size for my mother, the grandmother of the bride; when the seamstress sewed the new material onto the dress,to make it bigger, it was the wrong color; the seamstress said she didn't notice the difference; my 80 year old mother came from Brooklyn about 7 times for fittings!! and she still didn't get it right;the day of the wedding we had to pin up the slip because it was longer than the gown; and 2 of the gowns were taken to dazzle to be steamed because they were wrinkled!! should i submit the bill to metro?? I regret not reading reviews prior to looking for gowns; i wouldn't send my worst enemy to this place; i could go on and on about the incompetence,from the owner to the employees to the seamstress;Rose was the only saving grace and i thank her ; 11-15-10

LIERS, NASTY, & find Little ways to get your MONEY. I gave this place so much business & they treated my bridesmaid like garbage! The dresses were beyond late (they came a couple days before my wedding)! I had 10 bridesmaids, who all needed alterations!!!! My "pregnant matron of honor" got hung up on & the OWNER yelled at my aunt (on the phone) when she asked when the dresses were coming in! This was the most stressful & most unprofessional experience I ever had to go through. Its sad that I spent so much money in there, knowing that they treated us & lied the way they did.

Where do I begin. Please, please stay away from this place. A tip for all brides to be, do your research and shop off of Staten Island. When a place has 15 plus negative reviews there is a reason. I figured maybe they had changed, but blantely lying through their teeth is their way of business. This place charges sometimes hundreds above what the dress price is. Again, our misake for not doing research prior, and asking to see in writing how much the dress designer charges for extras. They will also charge you 65 dollars for alterations, that's a set price for them. So if a hem needs to be taken up which costs maybe 20 bucks, they are making almost 50 bucks off of you. They also overcharge you for special orders like the length, etc. Each gown company has a set price for extras but once again they will lie, tell you that's not so and charge you more. They change the dress style number on paperwork so it's harder to look for the price of the dress at other stores or the internet. They add a number or two. They will tell you the next day the dress is ordered when they never did. The nasty, lying, thing who owns this place when she got called out on what she did started, yelling, that's right yelling at a paying customer. Guess she thought we were stupid when we figured what they had done. This is a store owner lol? All she had to do was fess up and say "we charge you what we want". In this economy, it's not too wise to treat paying cutsomers like she did bc bad reviews and word of mouth goes far. Guess that's what happens when you run a decietful business. And I have the paperwork to prove what they did.

Although the girls there are very nice, it is a Horrible Place!!! I ordered my 7 bridesmaids dresses in March...they told me the dresses will be done in July. Towards the end of July i called and they said they will be in the following week. The next week I called and they said they will not be in until the End of August!! i went to metropolitan bridal for my graduation gown, on the day i picked the dress i wanted to wear they told me the exact day it was going to come, April24. even though it did take 12 weeks to get my gown they new what they were talking about and they didn't lie. my dress was beautiful n it turned out nobody had a dress that even looked like it....

There are definitely better places. Someone mentioned Angel's on Hylan (good place - great service). But even going to David's Bridal is a better experience.The store was definitely a mess. Felt gross taking my shoes off in the fitting room. And they LIE. Telling you that the sister of the groom refuses to let girls alter their dresses much. And that she said we HAVE to have the alterations done there (they are charging $50). That she insisted on straps and just altering the bottom a BIT. We call the sister and she says we can do what we want. Now I realize after reading posts here that they lied just to get $50 for very minimal altering work.Also, first time I went there, they made me wait a LONG time. Very annoying.I just tried calling to schedule a fitting now that the dresses are supposedly in and NO ONE is picking up.I'm getting married next year and I already know I won't be using Metropolitan for my bridesmaids.

I was married in the late summer of 2004, and unfortunately I had made the mistake of choosing this "establishment" for my wedding gown and bridesmaid's' dresses. It was the greatest regret of my wedding. I picked out a dress, it was ordered when it came time for my first fitting, the dress seemed as if it was already altered. Mydress was way too small. I was told by the saleswoman that, because of their mistake, I would just have to wear a lower heel. They also refused to take out the dress because the seamstress was too lazy to redo the bead-work. In the end, they insisted upon ordering me a larger size, and even after that dress was altered it was ridiculously big. I am a B cup and looked like a C+ in that dress. I was even embarrassed by comments made by friends and family. This is exactly what I had wanted to avoid. I even felt at times that the salespeople were getting annoyed with me and that is terrible , as this was supposed to be a very important, memorable time in my life. Unfortunately, it WAS a day I will never forget.

My friend is getting married this month, and went with Metropolitan for the Bridesmaids dresses. I had gone with a few of the girls to try on the dress, and they were incredibly rude from the moment we walked in the door until the moment we left.
We all left with the feeling of disgust, but sucked it up because we had to get our dresses. I made an appointment for my first fitting, and when I got there, they handed me a dress and had me put it on. I tried on the dress and was surprised that it barely covered my ankles after I had ordered extra length. I mentioned this to one of the women, and asked if this was definitely my dress because it was a little short. They told me it absolutely was the right dress, and began to fit it. I found out at my 2nd fitting, one week later, that it wasn't my dress at all! They altered the dress of another girl in the bridal party to fit me!
Of course, after this whole mess, the seamstress at Metropolitan went on vacation for the entire month of February-with nobody to fill in. My friend's wedding is in 2 weeks, and my fittings are nowhere near complete. In addition to that, there are 3 other girls in the bridal party who they wouldn't give an appointment to for their first fitting until tomorrow. On their books, my friend's wedding was supposed to take place this past weekend. Thank GOD it didn't.
So wish me luck tomorrow-hopefully they will give me the right dress!
And anyone looking for a place-Angels Bridal on Hylan Boulevard in Great Kills-I'm getting married too and got my dress and my girl's dresses there...very nice and helpful, lots to choose from, and far above the disaster that is Metropolitan Bridal.

I, unfortunately, made the mistake of using this store for my bridesmaids.
I should have been tipped of when I went for my shoes and saw a crying bride... it was a month before her wedding and they had ordered the wrong dress for her bridesmaids... instead of apologizing and doing what they could to accomodate her, they were very nasty.
It has been one problem after the next... they are unorganized and are liars.
Each one of my girls had a problem, from dresses not coming in to sizes being ridiculously large.
Before one of my girls went in,I showed her a picture of the dress.
Thank God I did... they showed her a different dress (totally different style) and told her to use that for the fitting... my friend had a fit and had them redo the paperwork with the correct dress.
Rosa gave her an attitude for it.

Just stay away from this store.

I, unfortunately, made the mistake of using this store for my bridesmaids.
I should have been tipped of when I went for my shoes and saw a crying bride... it was a month before her wedding and they had ordered the wrong dress for her bridesmaids... instead of apologizing and doing what they could to accomodate her, they were very nasty.
It has been one problem after the next... they are unorganized and are liars.

The store is always very busy and this is because they have beautiful gowns at great prices. Their seamstrss is excellent. The staff is friendly and helpful and the customer that I have seen were all happy. The store is bustling not disorganized. I would worry more if a store looked organized and had no customers .

For starters this place is very unorganized and far from clean. When I first went there they were all really nice and helpful I wanted a dress with sleeves and as we all know no dresses have sleeves anymore they said they could add sleeves to most dresses so then I picked a dress that I wanted and the seamstress said she can definatly add sleeves no problem. Well I go for my first fitting and all of a sudden they don't know if they can add sleeves. They are nothing but liars they also said that they can add sleeves to my bridesmaids dress and they same issue like mine one issue after the next. They kept telling me no problem it will all be ok no need to stress. They ordered my flower girls the wrong dresses. I went for a fitting just about twice a week for a month and they still could not get the dresses right. Finally 2 days before the Wedding I have to go for what should have been the last fitting everythiing shoud have been fine but guess what the dress was still not right it still had to be taken in at the waist and still had to be hemed. . The bridesmaids dress were all wrong too. My dress was not ready until the afternoon before my weddding day. I put the dress on the morning of the wedding and guess what it was still not hemed and the waist still was not taken in all the way nothing else I could do at this point but to let the dress drag on the floor and to big at the waist looks like I picked a dress off the rack the day before. Bridesmaids and flower girl dress fell apart. I called to talk to the manger and I was told that she would call me back it has been 2 months already and no phone call back.. I hope this will save someone else from having there once in a lifetime dream of the wedding dress experice ruined. That is something you can never get back and they ruined it for me and I would not want to see anyone go through the DRAMA thAT I went through with this store. .

There is no bargains there. You are getting robbed.
Are the salepeople helpful. No they tell one lie after another.
The owner is the least helpful.

Before I decided to buy my gown at Metropolitan Bridal on Hyland Blvd., I searched on the internet for any bad reviews. I found 1 good & 1 bad, so I gambled. What a BIG MISTAKE, I now am taking the time to put my review out there to save other brides unnecessary stress.! If I were to do it all over again, I would pay the extra $4000.00 just to avoid this cluster of a mess. This is the time in any woman??s life that is more special than any other time because it??s ??HER? dress!
There has not been one visit I can say I enjoyed or felt like a bride. I didn??t try on my gown for 2months because of how angry they made me, I didn??t want to hate my dress!! It was too late!! The stories they told me, they should be selling used cars not dresses. Don??t believe a word that comes out of any of their mouths!
First fitting: Waiting 4 ridiculous months and then finally revealing ??Your Gown?, forget any special moment, walking around in a crowed place not knowing where to begin with a little bag that has a folded gown in it.... Yes that was my gown presented to me wrinkled! I didn??t even want to put it on! I cried ?? I hated it!
My maid of honor??s gown was wrinkled as well, but we were patient and quiet. A woman who has an ??equilibrium problem? or as other??s would say, um drunk, tried to pin my maid of honor??s dress. She was falling and couldn??t even kneel to pin the hem, then pricked herself (thank God not my maid of honor) and started bleeding on the dress! Another time my maid of honor drove all the way over there and they didn??t have her gown for an appointment that was made. The list is useless, DO NOT GO TO Metropolitan Bridal on Hyland Blvd in Staten Island, NY.

I bought my wedding dress there and in the few amt of visits i made i left feeling like a friend of the girls working there. Each one is very personable and helpful. By the end of your fittings you feel like you are friends with the workers. I also found the prices to be very comparable to other places in the neighborhood. They hae a good selection of dresses and offer discounts for when you purchase more than one gown from them (for example, when the bride purchases her gown, the bridesmaids all get 10% off). I would recommend this place to any girl looking for dresses.

I purchased my wedding gown, bridesmaids gowns and the tuxedos at this place and it was a headache every step of the way. They are very nice when "reeling" you in but once they have your money, forget it. The dresses needed to be re-altered several times unneccessarily. Two nights before our wedding the guys went to pick up their tuxedos and out of 7 tuxedos only 4 were ok. The 3 others were missing pieces or had to be re-altered. We needed to pick up one of them the morning of our wedding because they gave us the wrong pants. While we were taking pictures the buckle on the pants broke and our photographer actually gave his belt to our usher so that he could keep his pants up.
