5 Stars: Quite possibly the best Italian food in all of NYC (by Bridgetann)

I recently came to Alberto restaurant and had a wonderful experience. I could not ask for a friendlier staff and the food was AMAZING!!! You could tell everything was home made. Did I mention how delicious it was? The inside of the restaurant is gorgeous. It is cozy with beautiful stain glass windows in the front and stain glass skylight. I go to restaurants all the time and this is one of those places that stands out. It is truly one of those special finds. Even if you live in a different borough it is worth making the trip to Alberto one of the best kept secrets in the city!!! I wish I found it sooner. I am going to have my sister wedding shower there!

1 Stars: Poor treatment at Alberto (by queensfoodietoo)

Unfortunately, we had a very poor experience yesterday (3/7/09) at Alberto. They substituted one of the special appetizers for the Piatto di Mare without telling us and we questioned them as soon as it arrived. (later they said it is because they do not have octopus). Then they charged us for the more expensive one. (it was NOT changed on the bill - we ended up paying for the more expensive dish we never ordered). They served the Dover Sole filletted instead of whole, as requested. They did take it back with no argument, but the new whole fish was delivered partially fried, which they tried to tell us was BAKED (but the menu says GRILLED, and we requested GRILLED). And since it was returned to us in less that 10 minutes, I doubt very much whether a whole large fish can be baked in that short a time. When cut open, the center was raw and they tried to explain it away by saying this is what happens when it is served whole, so that's why they like to fillet it. Sorry, I've had whole fish many times, and it can be grilled properly. It was taken away and microwaved and then returned. A poor showing for a dish that costs $33. A busboy dropped a gravy boat containing oil and garlic, and when shown the oil spots that landed on a sweater, said he didn't do it. Obviously they considered us a pain, so when we paid the $215 bill, one of the owners scooped it up without a word and never returned. Had they admitted to a mistake at any time, or apologized, we might have considered giving them another chance. But considering how poorly we felt we were treated, we will not return and will not suggest them to anyone.

5 Stars: Alberto's (by Lisa W.)

One of the best Italian Restaurants in the world as far as I'm concerned. The quattro formaggio is amazing, the tira misu is also very good; basically everything that comes to the table is fresh, hot and delicious. The service is impeccable. This is a great restaurant that you should go to for special occasions.

5 Stars: Amazing meal and staff (by bloomieslp)

We've been going here for years and have never been disappointed. From the appetizers to the spectacular and always improving wine list, to the delicious entrees. And you must try the strawberry zabaglione dessert! Sylvana (the owner) is like the italian mother you always wanted. Good for a couple, family, or a group.

5 Stars: Excellent (by David W.)

This is a great restaurant. It is not very big so the setting is very intimate. I agree with another reviewer that their veal chops are not to be missed. Another good thing is that street parking is fairly easy to find right off Metropolitan Ave.

5 Stars: My favorite italian restaurant (by Chaz K.)

By far the best italian restaurant I've ever been to. It's got an old time class that you don't find in today's modern italian restaurants. I say go hungry and leave stuffed. Speaking of stuffed, their stuffed veal chop is amazing (not on the menu so only regulars know about it) as is their three muskateers.

5 Stars: Super but a little noisy (by golfer2004)

The ambience and food quality makes Alberto my absolute favorite restaurant. The only negative is that the decor, brick walls, makes the place a bit noisy, otherwise super.
