Initially, I was little wary of the suits and ties (given the location), but the servers greeted us with courtesy. The tables were little cramped -- I was able to listen in on conversations

Everything - the host, wait staff, food, atmosphere, wine selection - is fantastic. I need my Estiatorio Milos?s fix at least every few months and I'm never disappointed.

Great place for celebrations, romantic dinners, close family events.

Milos is another wonderful restaurant to visit anytime, but particularly prior to a concert at Carnegie Hall. At that time there's a prix fixe three course menu. Should you order that way or from the a la carte menu you'll be fine, but if you venture to the area where you select your fish by the pound, you can expect a bill to rival the national debt. Milos' fish is exquisitely fresh and prepared simply, as wonderful Greek food should be. Their appetizers also are wonderful and make a meal in themselves.

I've been here twice and both times, I had a great time, the food was great and the waiters were great. The grill fish was superb!

I came here with my dad who is a huge seafood lover. I didn't want to dissapoint. This place exceeded all expectations (how cliche), but seriously the space is vast and architectually cool, the food is delicious, fresh and generously served. I had the stuffed calamari and the Med Sea Bass. Dad had the crab cakes and juicy tomato salad. Even the sides are meals within themselves. The red and yellow beet side order came with swiss chard and a garlicky cream sauce. Amazing. I love simple food prepared delicately. It is so hard to find a seafood place that doesnt mess with too many ingredients to mask the delicate flavors of ocean life. Dessert was simple. The fresh fruit plate tasted like everything was imported from Europe.
Good wine list. Waiter was attentive, but a bit aloof, considering my dad is friendly with all the waiters and genuinely is interested in talking to them (my dad is known to go in the back to personally thank the chef a few times too). Anyone who can apprecaite my dad's personality is a bonus in my books, Milos made a weak attempt at that.

This is a great place to take a date. The food is wonderful and so is the atmosphere... My only caution would be to watch out for those types who are from Montreal, but come to New York to go to Milos... Sometimes you overhear them going into a rant about how they looovvveee the original Milos and it gets kind of obnoxious.

Went during the week for a quick business lunch. Place was quite full but we were seated within a couple minutes, and then pleasantly surprised by the $24.07 prixe-fix 3-course lunch special (3 options each for app, main, dessert; and quality dishes, too--stuff I'd have ordered off the regular menu). Everything very tasty, great bread, attentive service, and we left quite full for well under $100 (incl a bottle of sparkling and cappucinos).

i first went here with my mother and sister when i was about 16 years old and could not forget the gigantic steamed lobster the three of us gorged ourselves with that night. years later... ok, about 8 years later, i went again, this time on a corporate lunch, and i remembered why this place was so memorable for me. the staff is always attentive and undiscriminating. they are also very knowledgeable about the food. that last time i went was with my girlfriend for dinner. we sat within view of the fresh seafood displayed on ice (flown in daily from greece, apparently) which was a gorgeous sight. there was no need to ask for anything during our meal. our glasses (wine, water, whatever) were always full, our plates were exchanged quietly and efficiently when needed and we were able to devote all of our attention to each other and the food. if you go, i highly recommend the loupe de mer. milos emphasizes the pure flavors of the seafood and adds subtle flavors to enhance them.

Best Calamari, grilled shrimp and lobster in town, not to mention their fishes, especially the loup de mer. Although expensive, well worth it. The food seems deceptively simple. However, they know how to balance the delicate flavors of seafood with a combination of olive oil, lemons, garlic and light seasonings. The result is divine. The true taste of the seafood is never over powered. Don't forget the Baklava nor the yogurt and honey for desert.

Whether a quick power lunch or 5 course dinner, Milos is simply the best.

Mortified my in front of my client! On 8/9/06, I took a client out to lunch at this place. Spent about one hour and twenty minutes. We were just about to wrap up and close the deal when the manager came and asked us to leave because we were spending too much time. He offered us a drink at the bar, but my client has a strict no drinking during work policy. I used to be a repeat customer who ordered the most expensive items and multiple coarses during the meal as these are business lunches. I don't think 1 hr and 20 minutes is unreasonable. This is not a McDonald's and I was shocked. We had to finish the last five minutes of our conversation out on 55th street!!! At these prices, they should expect the average customer to "dine" and not eat like they have just gone through the drive-thru. What a shame, the food is awesome. If you are trying to close a deal, don't go there!

This is going to make a dent in your wallet... so try to schedule a business meeting here! If the variety of fish is overwhelming, allow your waiter to help you decide. The fish can be shared by the entire table or each diner can have his own. The grilled octopus was exquisite, very soft. The Loupe De Mer was delicate and flavorful, and the snapper (I forgot which one exactly) was meaty and moist. The fish is not overly spiced so as not to detract from the fish's true flavor. It is perfect for summer dining! If you still have room for dessert, indulge yourself. The yogurt is quite flavorful and unique (from goat's milk?) and the portion is large - however, I was too full to really enjoy it. If you still want a little something, the fresh fruit is certainly big enough to share. What a magical place!!

The fishnet on the Mediterranean white walls, the flickering candelight and the freshest seafood around makes an evening at Estiatoria Milos, a night to remember. The food is great but the little touches make it especially enjoyable - the little oregano plant on your table that is clipped into your olive oil to eat with bread, the chatty waiter who suggests good wine and the glistening seafood laid out for you to choose from on mounds of ice. Expect to wait, even if you have a reservation.

As a frequent and recent visitor to Milos, I have nothing but positive comments. The service has always been excellent, and I have always been seated promptly with a reservation. From food to beverages the staff clearly enjoy their jobs, especially the sommelier who pointed out some terrific, reasonably priced selections that paired very nicely with the fish. I have yet to find fresher, more expertly prepared fish anywhere in NY. The beauty of the fish really shines in Milos' simple preparations. Yes, the food may be high priced relative to other parts of the country, but for upscale dining in NY, considering the quality of food and care they take to ensure the best selections I found it very reasonable. An excellent spot for both business and pleasure.

I have lived in NY for about 6 years and have eaten at many/most top restaurants in the city. And I have never been treated as poorly as at Milos. After making our party wait for about an hour past our reservation time (which we chalked up to it being a busy Friday night), they gave us a wobbly makeshift table that was set up in the path of the staff rushing out of the kitchen. When we asked for a different table, we were told that it would be another hour...and this news was conveyed without any sense of apology or effort to make us comfortable in any way. Really ridiculous for such overpriced food.

As someone who grew up in the mediterenean area, I Ilove this kind of food and I grill fish frequently.
The food at Milos is good and simple. just the way it should be, nothing sophisticated. However, it's way overpriced. Greek food, specially grilled fish is simple. It is simple to make and simple to serve and usually doesn't take a $30K cooking school to learn.

Even the drinks at the bar are above the average ($30 for 2 simple drinks)..and for the price the bartenders could be a little nicer.

There are many other places in the city where you can get the same food for 1/4 of the price.

I'll probably will never go again.

I live in Minnesota, a place were seafood means beer battered Walleye. Being an native Chicagoian however, I know all kinds of fish, and most of my dinners that I cook at home are fresh fish. I have to say, the fish selection here is mind blowing! The 'cold ice' display is amazing, everything from Greek Pageot, to Protugease St. Francis, to Seabass from North Caroline. It's all here and it's all fresh! I had the Pageot (A kind of Greek snapper). It was amazing, but very simply prepared as well. $78 for a 2lb fish seemed like alot (If I had a whole Pageot, I could probably prepare it the way they did.) But hey, you can't buy Pageot in MN! And if they sold it, i'm sure they'd pronounce it PA-GEE-OT :). Also good Octopus appitizer.

Everything about Milos was A-MA-ZING. Not only was the food fresh, authentic, and delicious, but we left dinner with a feeling of ultimate satisfaction. The Greek spreads were beautifully presented and equally scrumptous. If it wasn't for an early March storm, I could have been fooled that I was in Greece.

My fiancee and I went to Milos for Valentine's Day and arrived promptly for our 9p. After being told that it would be another "5-10 minutes" and waiting FORTY MINUTES later while watching FIVE different couples who arrived 20 min after us get seated by the windows, we finally approached the hostess. They proceeded to seat us at a table next to the kitchen. I don't mean 50 yards away, but an area where even the lighting was completely different from the rest of Milos (think flourescent lights and folding table). For $87/person prix fixe, you expect a level of service commensurate. Ridiculous and I will tell anyone to AVOID THIS PLACE.

Pristine fish, perfectly cooked, and that's all. There is not much excitement to this food, and given the simplicity of preparation (olive oil, capers, herbs) it is really a crime that it is so expensive. This restaurant proves that some people simply need to pay more. For fish of equal quality and better value, try Aquagrill instead.

The food was amazing. I've never eaten such beautifully cooked fish. Yes, it's not the cheapest place in the world, but the pre-theatre menu offered a wonderful dinner experience. Avoid the sorbet though, honey doesn't really work in sorbet!

The fish here is super fresh and comes from all over the world! I recomend the Fried Calamari appetizer..it's cut fresh and fried to order...the Tzaziki dip...another super fresh item...the Greek Salad, you Never tasted tomatoes or Feta like whats in this salad! Any fish you pick will be remarkable, unfortunately the fish come by the pound on usually a 2 lb weight at a price of $45 per pound and up! That is the ONLY drawback. If you go there to expect a fabulous, amazing meal, and are not worried that you will spend BIG BUCKS here, this is THE place for delcious Greek food! The Milos in Montreal is just as FABULOUS as this NY location. Have a glass of the Greek Cabernet wine...Amethystos, you'll love that too!

We had a great experience at Milos. The prices are high but so is the quality of food and service. The fish was so fresh and the entres are big enough to share. Try the 'Loup de Mer'! Appetizers were delicious, especially the greek salad with fresh feta. And the pommegranates give the place a romantic flare. If you are looking for good seafood, Milos is the place to go.

Milos is a truly special restaurant with an amazingly calm vibe that makes you feel as if you're on the Greek seaside. The octopus appetizer is wonderful and tender. It's the only octopus anything that I will eat. Milos also introduced me to some amazing fish - - the Royal Dorado is my fave, followed up by the Loup de Mer. They prepare it simply and perfectly. No need to throw on all kinds of "arty" onions or sauces or anything else that some fancy chefs insist upon. Entirely wonderful and worth the price.

I'm saddened to say my friends & I had to pay such preposterous prices when I know i can get the same quality meal (w/ less atmosphere) for less $$!! If you're going order crab cake(s) expect to plunk down $21/cake, ($43 for 2.) Which fell apart & weren't very tasty... Actually I could've prepared it better w/ artificial crab-meat! (I've a damn good recipe & consider myself a pretty good cook!) Oh, and i think the owner owns his own plane (how convenient?!) & brings in his the fish from Greece. However, you may want to call in advance to see if it's delayed, since I know this has happened to a group that recently went & were highly disappointed to find out only a few fish were available instead of twenty+! What a waste! At least the service is attentive (maybe too much!!) but it is horrendously expensive!
