We just had an event there and were most satisfied. Saw none of the problems reported here -- while the facilities are showing their age around the edges they were just fine. Most of all the staff was most cooperative!

I WORKED FOR THEM A WHILE BACK. THE OWNER LOST HIS MIND AND THEY RIG THE SPRINKLER SYSTEM. MAINTENANCE SUCKS AS BAD AS HOUSEKEEPING.Try not to stay there, if you don't want to blow your money.

I stayed here with a group approximately five years ago. The ceilings were leaking, the rooms were freezing (it was January) the carpets were damp and the rooms smelled like mold and mildew. The toilets were overflowing, It was disgusting. I see things haven't changed. Unfortunately, the same group is choosing to go back there this February. I also called there and the person who answered the phone said there had been no updates from five years ago, but the problems had been fixed. I wonder when they fixed "the problems." I really rate this negative 5 stars.

***Update as of Sept 2009: This resort has filed bankruptcy and the resort is on the market to BE SOLD. PLEASE DO NOT STAY THERE it is unsafe, disgusting and needs to be torn down.

This "resort" should be shut down for good. Its old, filthy, rundown and overall has had its day. These owners are barely hanging on. We stayed recently only after all else nearby was booked. One night was all we could stand. The room smelled, the bathroom was in grave need of repair, overall we were overcharged!!
All the reviews I have read certainly are true and indicate that this establishment needs to close. I understand from previous guests that the owners just don't care, are quite unethical, just out for themselves only!!! On trip advisor one of the owners actually wrote his own review!!!! Talk about desperate!!! and wrong! Check trip advisor over 100 reviews that will surely convince you NEVER to set foot on the grounds of Friar Tuck Inn!!

REDRUM, REDRUM. Remember the Shining? That??s the closest description I have for the nightmare stay we had for a wedding the weekend of June 27. When we checked in we thought it was kitschy that everything looked like 1973 (with no maintenance or upgrades since). Dark wood paneling, old carpets, mismatched bathroom tiles epoxied into random areas, e.g. the elevator, in haphazard ways. The sheets were threadbare, the carpets damp with who knows what and rough camping blankets. The sink, toilet and bathtub faucets all leaked. It smelled like smoke even though we were on the non smoking floor. Our friends were on the ??smoking floor? because they did not request non ??smoking. They were unable to move them because they had no vacancies (scary). At 8am on our first morning we were awoken by a non English speaking maintenance man who managed to tell us in broken English that he was there to fix the bathroom. I said he woke us up, we did not request service and to go away, he requested to come back in one hour. I suggested after 12:30 when we were going to attend the wedding. Imagine our surprise when we came back at 11:00am after breakfast (do not eat here, the dark dank Sherwood Forest dining room, leave the property) to find our bathroom taken apart by their maintenance crew. The response was ??the boss really wants this fixed today?. I could not believe it! We had 1 hour to get ready. I called the desk and asked why they could not wait until we were done for the day - she offered to allow us to use another bathroom temporarily on another floor and then come back to the room we had. After arguing she found us a room with twin beds or a queen with a cot. There were no offers to help us move to a new room even though they have 2 teenage ??bellhops? at the front entrance at all times. Our ??new? room was slightly more clean but leaked in the bathroom, and the TV squealed (with fear, I truly believe). Thankfully no one woke us up the next morning and we hightailed it out of there before Jack Nicholson showed up with a machete. Compensation from management? $25 off each night (regular price $150!) only when I insisted. Saving grace: Johnny G. who runs the karaoke nights in the bar, extremely entertaining with a great voice of the oldies ?? Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Frankie Valli, etc. - he too deserves a better venue. Please save yourself a migraine and $$.

I stayed at the Friar Tuck Inn for a nice get away with my husband. The place is beautiful and all of the staff was helpful. There dinning room offered great food and the wait staff were on top of everything. The bar was a very cozy and warm place. They had a beautiful pool, game room, jacuzzi, and a wonderful spa. The room we stayed in was huge and reasonable. We had a living room and bedroom. The bed was very comfortable. The batheroom had a shower and a jacuzzi. The common area had huge couches, fire place and T.V. It was a great place and I would stay there again.
