I went here a while back with two friends for lunch and definitely dug the lunch special: about 15 entree choices for $7. I liked my bun xao, but wasn't blown away. And I could have gone for extra fish sauce. The curry was not good at all and the sesame chicken surprised my friend and was pretty tasty. It's not bad, but it's not great so I'd rather explore elsewhere.

L'Annam was one of my favorite lunch spots when I went to school in the neighborhood. Lunch specials are under $10 for huge portions. My favorite are the grilled pork chops. it's ideal for those with a timed lunch break because the service is lightening quick. The flip side of that is that if you're just trying to sit back and relax you may feel a little rushed.

Cons: Not a place for a relaxing

The food is tasty, the price is right, service is quick. Its not exactly the place to go if you want to have a long relaxing meal but its great for new yorkers with little time who want to eat and go.

unpretentious restaurant focusing on food. Great food, never lets me down. I get the chicken saigon noodles in a brown sauce.

I used to come here all the time, but yesterday I came for lunch yesterday and a COCKROACH fell from the ceiling vent onto my shoulder. I brushed it off on the floor and told the waiter what happened, who merely stepped on it and walked away, WITHOUT EVEN CLEANING IT UP. The restaurant did not care that they were unsanitary and that we did not even touch our food. We still had to pay for our meals, thoroughly disgusted and still hungry. This place needs an inspection BIG TIME!!! GROSS!!!

Really good for quick and cheap Vietnamese food. The only problem I had was that i asked to make the food spicy and it was still just plain.

This restaurant has the best shrimp summer rolls. It is really good food and you can't beat the price! It is just a casual little restaurant with great service... and they also deliver too!

I like this restaurant. The food is great, and so is the price.
I used to go to a Vietnamese place in China town, until I discovered Lannam.
Go for the cubed beef! and the spring rolls, to die for!

The shrimp pad thai is absolutely delicious. I usually get it to go at lunch and I'm over whelmed by the large portion that's laden with shrimp. IO've yet to try any other dish there since I'm quite picky but i definitely would recommend it. But get an extra fish sauce on the side though.

Cons: Noisy at times, limited seating

When I dined in, the pho noddle soup was acceptable, but the broth isn't as rich as it is at pho places in chinatown. When I got delivery from here, the food was a little better.

If you're ready for a change of pace, this is a great place for cheap eats. The soups average about $4 a bowl for a small and the plates are often no more than $15. The Hot & Sour Soup with Shrimp Wontons is one of my personal faves. The Beef Chowfun is good as well. There are many vegetarain dishes for those non-meat eaters out there. Overall, a greal place to try.

I've been to this place three different times. Each one is better that the previous one. Definitively one of my favourites. I've had all kind of appetizers, all of them are good. I love the chicken curry soups, the noodles, the pad thai... everything is delicious, big plates and excellent prices!

ive ordered out from the university place branch of this restaurant, but yesterday was my first time eating here. the place is pretty big, and there are comfortable booths and tables. the three of us were seated in a cushy round corner booth, which i liked a lot.

my two friends started off with an order of scallion pancakes ($2.50). they were a little different from the scallion pancakes that we usually get in chinatown as there didnt seem to be much scallions chopped into the dough, but rather fresh sprigs of the stuff were sprinkled on top. it also smelled a lot more like poori than regular scallion pancakes. it was served with what appeared to be a peanut dipping sauce, though both my friends said that it lacked any real flavour and failed to add an additional dimension to the dish.

i ordered the vegetable rice crepes ($8.95). there vegetables came grilled and in 3 large kebabs. they were served on top of thick rice noodles sprinkled with peanuts and with sides nuoc cham & hoisin sauces. it was pretty good as the vegetables were well-seasoned so they werent bland. each skewer consisted of a chunk of broccoli, firm tofu, eggplant, onion, and carrot. the rice noodles were hot and tender.

my two friends both got different versions of hot soupy pho (~$7). the bowls were larger than the ones that we were accustomed to getting in chinatown. it was filled with noodles and had a lot of meat (some pho places tend to skimp on the meat). they both called the bowls neverending and it seemed like neither of them finished. i was told that the broth base wasnt as flavourful as nha trang in chinatown. the pho came with the usual side of fresh bean sprouts.

we were served complimentary hot fried bananas along with our check, which was a sweet ending to our meal.

I love this place! My friends and I have made it "our" place. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The grilled porkchops are my favorite. # S14 is a great value and plenty of food (porkchops over noodles) Order sauteed stringbeans and ask for extra garlic. It's fabulous! When they have it, get the special vegetable of the day: Watercress with garlic. They only have it once in a while but if you see it on the specials menu, GET IT! Everything is very tasty and its worth every penny! You can definitely get nice and stuffed with tons of food for 12 bucks per person!

Pros: Great porkchops, awesome service, good eats!

Cons: None I can think of

Look out for slow service: the food has been overcooked or has been sitting around. We have tried this place a dozen times, and it never gets better. It was good once, but has slipped badly. Avoid especially on Sundays.

Just ate here this past weekend. While not authentic Vietnamese, L'Annam serves very good food (think of it as a Chinese interpretation of Vietnamese food). Prices are reasonable and portions are very generous. Service was quick and friendly. For appetizers, we shared summer rolls and spring rolls - they were good, not great. For an entree, I had the grilled pork chops and my girlfriend had the basil chicken with jumbo shrimp - both were great. This is one of the cleanest "Vietnamese" restaurants I've been to.

I love this place and I recommend it to everyone that I know. They have THE best spring rolls. They might have large servings, but they are happy to wrap up left overs for you. And if you are more than one person, then it's perfect sharing sizes.

Numerous times have the people of Lannam gotten my order wrong. I don't why it's so hard to put lettuce in a bowl with their carrot dressing (I hate rice, is a substitute too much to ask for?). Not only that, the proportions are way too big. There's no reason for a dish prepared for one to be able to feed a family of 6. How American of you Lannam!!!
