Over charged  1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

Carlos was very patient with me and helped me pick a bike which I bought and I love. When I researched it on the Internet I was overcharged about $200.00. I usually research 1st and buy later but this time I went with my heart and feel I was taken.

largest and best  5 Star Rating - World class

Carlos has the largest selection of quality bicycles-not some heavy huffy crap. He is not only the owner but an avid cycler himself so he knows what he is talking about. Very honest and reliable.

Think as many times as possible before you buy!!  1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

My friend bought a Pacific cycle Roadmaster bike model R4446WMOT there for 180 USD + tax in Jun 2006. He noted that the front rim and back rim of the wheels are different. He was told by the boss that the back rim was upgraded by company for free. However, the back wheel kept deformed/bended in the folowwing days even under normal condition of usage. The front wheel remained good though.

My friend went back for rim adjustment twice within one week (within alleged 1-month guarantee). The boss and the lady gave him a hard time waiting there and told him that they would charge him next time he went back.

My friend felt suspicious, so he called the bike company customer service line directly. It turned out that
1. there was no free upgrade of back rim (which in fact kept bending)
2. this model of bike should mainly/only be sold at Wal-Mart for 70 USD!!(We both went to Wal-Mart in Linden, NJ later in July and found out that the very same model was sold there at 63.99 USD + tax!!)

My friend went back to the shops several times to fix this problem and finally settled it down by APOLOGIZING to the boss, recognizing his AUTHENTICITY and lost money equivalent to 30% of the money he paid (inc. tax) for restocking. He also needed to keep both the fenders and lock he bought initially along with the bike.

My friend paid almost three times the Wal-Mart's price without the SO-CALLED GOOD SERVICE AS SEEN ON PREVIOUS REVIEWS, and lost the money for restocking, almost equivalent to the value of the bike in Wal-Mart.

This is definitely a GREAT shop with all the bikes and spare parts a biker would ever need. However, think twice, three times or as many times as possible before you take your money out and put it into the boss's pocket!! THERE IS NO RETURN/REFUND/EXCHANGE. Make sure that you have also done a good survey about the price of that specific item you want. Be smart to yourself first!

PROS: Stock all things that a biker ever needs
CONS: Overpriced items/bikes without proportional service and courtesy

Mom and POP Shop  3 Star Rating - Satisfactory

I purchased a Cannondale Mountain bike there 2 summers ago and yes, He is a bit pricey...but what 'MOM and POP' shop isn't? To be fair his service is GREAT....each time i've gone back I've always had a good experience and wound up purchasing some of his over-priced bike wear and accessories BUT....his service is GREAT and sometimes you pay for that!....try getting a knowledgable salesperson at WAL-MART!...better yet FINDING a SalesPerson !!. PS: The lady there gets a little snippy sometimes...musta been on her period.....thats what we get with the advent of women in the workplace. I'll buy my next bike there....but I'll shop the prices first and then negotiate.....an educated consumer is the best customer.

Mr. C.- Great Bike Shop  5 Star Rating - World class

I have been using Mr. C. for almost 3 years and he, his staff and his shop are top notch top service, top products and top customer relations. They are all professional and friendly. The shop is clean and welcoming. There is no bad attitude.

I own several bicycles and Mr. C. takes care of them like they are his own babies. I am building up a brand new Everti road bike frame and Mr. C. is my choice for the work, the parts and the care. I had Mr. C. tune another road bike and WOW! what a job! For a bike that is over 7 years old with close to 50,000 miles on it, it looks new. From the frame down to the little pulleys, everything was removed, cleaned, shined, lubed and re-assembled beautifully. Carlos and staff spent a lot of extra time tweaking the bike, removing tarnish, painting it, calling me to keep me up-to-day. Extraordinary!!

Mr. C. sells inexpensive, mid-level and premium bikes, so anyone and everyone should find what they want there. He has all the components, gear, clothes, shoes, etc. I do not know what happened with John L., the previous poster, but there must be more to it than what was posted. It was not John L.s bike but a friends; and the rear wheel kept deforming. Deforming? It sounds third-hand, hearsay and fishy to me. And some heavy riding over curbs and potholes. You cannot blame the shop for that. But again, not one can please all the people all the time Abe Lincoln. And, to buy a bike at a big-box store like Wal-Mart, where some one from housekeeping or kitchenware builds the bike up and sets it, is in no way comparable to having a professional mechanic build it and fit it to you. Night and day difference.

So, Mr. C. Carlos, Sandra, Carlito, et. al thanks!! Great local bike shop (LBS) and my choice.

Money Hungry Business  1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

Don't trust the salespeople there, they'll say anything to try and get you to buy something. I asked a salesperson working there if it would be worth it to spend about $260 on a BMX bike. When he thought that was about all I could spend he told me "there wasn't any difference" between that and another $350 bike. I ended up paying for the cheaper piece of crap and when I got home I googled the bike to see what other places were selling it for and found out that the bike was only worth about $150. They completely ripped me off- AND NO REFUNDS!!!!

Mr. C's: antidote to snooty bike sales people and limited selection  5 Star Rating - World class

Carlos and his crew are as courteous and concerned about their customers as any bike shop I've ever been to. Since buying a mountain bike there in 04, I have returned several times for other bikes and for their top-notch mechanics. And while I suppose you could get a better price online or at a large retailer, these guys actually have the time to answer questions and give test rides, make adjustments etc. I also love the espresso machine! I should also add that they are about the only people in Brooklyn selling top-notch mountain bikes and accessories.
