My GF and I just bought 2 bicycles from Mr. C's, I picked up the Globe Roll 1 (black) and she picked up the Specialized Sirrus. I'd been researching out bicycles for quite some time, so I pretty much knew what I wanted; my GF on the other hand, went with me not sure if she was even going to buy a bicycle, but low and behold 2+ hours later we walked out with 2 bicycles. Everyone in the shop was amazing, and offered honest opinions; they worked with my GF for a while, fitting a few bikes and letting her try them out on the road, there was no pressure to buy and no real pressure to hurry up; there were lots of people coming through the store but I felt everyone was able to juggle everyone, I worked with one guy to find and fit my bicycle and another person helped me out with a helmet, a nice flow, and we didn't feel neglected.

I kept saying how refreshing it was to be in a bicycle shop where the workers were friendly and fully approachable, and not pretentious in that Lower Manhattan Snobbery kind of way.

A Special Thanks to everyone at Mr. C's for making our bicycle purchase an enjoyable experience!!!! (Big up to David!!)

I had been planning on purchasing my first fixed-gear bike for a while, and walked into a few shops in Manhattan and Brooklyn. I eventually decided that I'd prefer to get my bike in Brooklyn because I love my borough and would rather support the Brooklyn economy if I could.

I found Mr. C's because the shop was listed as an authorized Cannondale and Trek dealer in Brooklyn, and I had been considering both brands. My experience there was great! All of the staff was helpful, and I never felt like I was being pressured to spend more money than I had. I had hoped to test ride a Trek T1 and the Cannondale Capo but the T1 was not available. Luckily, I rode the Capo and it was perfect, so I didn't have to ride the T1...

It was a great experience and I feel like I got my money's worth. I will be sticking with this shop for all my bike needs in the future.

You cannot help but love this store??the selection, the service, the people, the down-to-earth, easy atmosphere. My own observation is that every level of customer from novice to pro seems to feel at home and connected there including me, a bike commuter. Bought my bike there in '92 and still riding it everywhere.

Regardless of ability - from novice to expert - for bikes in Brooklyn this is the place.

I live in Park Slope with no shortage of bike shops but I choose to go here. Carlos is a hands-on owner who takes great care to really know your needs. When I recently upgraded he had me test ride a wide selection with no pressure to buy outside of my range. And the service is exemplary. A 'get it right' attitude assures that when they repair something it's fixed. With tune-ups he asks ME to bring it back to allow them to fine tune the adjustments.

Great selection, great service, great store!

I have been using Mr C's Cycles for over 5 years and have never had a bad experience as stated by others.
Its rare to walk into a bike shop and find what your looking for already in stock. Most bike shops ive been to have to order the parts and that could sometimes take up to 1 week.

Mr Carlos has always treated me very well, and thats why when i need a part or upgrade this is the biek shop i always go to.

There selection of bikes on display cannot be beat!!

They have every type of bike you could think of with reasonable prices, and sometimes great sales.

Thanks again Carlos. A++++ service.

Mr. C's strong suit is in repairs and upgrades - the tuneups are top-notch, and I had them upgrade my wheels, and they did an amazing job - no more broken spokes, even on cobblestones! My girlfriend bought a commuter bike that worked fine for a year until it was stolen, so it seems their new stuff is good too. My one gripe is that they don't have any interesting used bikes - everything is new and shiny and very nice.

They have excellent service, and are quite friendly - even when things are busy work is turned around pretty quickly.

I purchased a great road bike from Carlos and his staff a few weeks ago. I explained that I was just getting into cycling and wanted some specific components. I also needed a 44 frame which was difficult to find at other bike shops. Carlos found something for me that was a good match, and at a discounted price. He and his staff fit me on the bike, and made sure that I took it and others out for a few test rides to be sure that it fit me well. The staff I talked with, his mechanic and 2 of his retail folks, are cyclists themselves so they were able to give me some good tips and info too.

When making a life style change such as investing in a bike, a novice needs good advice and good service. Mr. C demonstrates neither. Carlos and his crew will try to upsell you on everything and get you out of the door. They have a huge selection but their prices are overly inflated, service is very expenive and their repair and tune-up($80 for a tune-up) skills aren't worth mentioning. NYC has many good independent bike shops who don't abuse their customers, use scare tatics inorder to make new purchases actually stay true to their tuning service . Mr Carlos decided not to give me any more tuning for two years since i did not buy wheels from him. Avoid this place if you appreciate your money, business values and a sense of respect.

Carlos was very patient with me and helped me pick a bike which I bought and I love. When I researched it on the Internet I was overcharged about $200.00. I usually research 1st and buy later but this time I went with my heart and feel I was taken.

I purchased a Cannondale Mountain bike there 2 summers ago and yes, He is a bit pricey...but what 'MOM and POP' shop isn't? To be fair his service is GREAT....each time i've gone back I've always had a good experience and wound up purchasing some of his over-priced bike wear and accessories BUT....his service is GREAT and sometimes you pay for that!....try getting a knowledgable salesperson at WAL-MART!...better yet FINDING a SalesPerson !!. PS: The lady there gets a little snippy sometimes...musta been on her period.....thats what we get with the advent of women in the workplace. I'll buy my next bike there....but I'll shop the prices first and then negotiate.....an educated consumer is the best customer.

Don't trust the salespeople there, they'll say anything to try and get you to buy something. I asked a salesperson working there if it would be worth it to spend about $260 on a BMX bike. When he thought that was about all I could spend he told me "there wasn't any difference" between that and another $350 bike. I ended up paying for the cheaper piece of crap and when I got home I googled the bike to see what other places were selling it for and found out that the bike was only worth about $150. They completely ripped me off- AND NO REFUNDS!!!!

Carlos and his crew are as courteous and concerned about their customers as any bike shop I've ever been to. Since buying a mountain bike there in 04, I have returned several times for other bikes and for their top-notch mechanics. And while I suppose you could get a better price online or at a large retailer, these guys actually have the time to answer questions and give test rides, make adjustments etc. I also love the espresso machine! I should also add that they are about the only people in Brooklyn selling top-notch mountain bikes and accessories.

I have been using Mr. C. for almost 3 years and he, his staff and his shop are top notch ?? top service, top products and top customer relations. They are all professional and friendly. The shop is clean and welcoming. There is no bad attitude.

I own several bicycles and Mr. C. takes care of them like they are his own babies. I am building up a brand new Everti road bike frame and Mr. C. is my choice for the work, the parts and the care. I had Mr. C. tune another road bike and WOW! ?? what a job! For a bike that is over 7 years old with close to 50,000 miles on it, it looks new. From the frame down to the little pulleys, everything was removed, cleaned, shined, lubed and re-assembled beautifully. Carlos and staff spent a lot of extra time tweaking the bike, removing tarnish, painting it, calling me to keep me up-to-day. Extraordinary!!

Mr. C. sells inexpensive, mid-level and premium bikes, so anyone and everyone should find what they want there. He has all the components, gear, clothes, shoes, etc. I do not know what happened with John L., the previous poster, but there must be more to it than what was posted. It was not John L.??s bike but a friend??s; and the rear wheel kept ??deforming.? Deforming? It sounds third-hand, hearsay and fishy to me. And some heavy riding over curbs and potholes. You cannot blame the shop for that. But again, not one can please all the people all the time ?? Abe Lincoln. ? And, to buy a bike at a ??big-box? store like Wal-Mart, where some one from housekeeping or kitchenware builds the bike up and sets it, is in no way comparable to having a professional mechanic build it and fit it to you. Night and day difference.

So, Mr. C. ?? Carlos, Sandra, Carlito, et. al ?? thanks!! Great local bike shop (LBS) and my choice.

My friend bought a Pacific cycle Roadmaster bike model R4446WMOT there for 180 USD + tax in Jun 2006. He noted that the front rim and back rim of the wheels are different. He was told by the boss that the back rim was upgraded by company for free. However, the back wheel kept deformed/bended in the folowwing days even under normal condition of usage. The front wheel remained good though.

My friend went back for rim adjustment twice within one week (within alleged 1-month guarantee). The boss and the lady gave him a hard time waiting there and told him that they would charge him next time he went back.

My friend felt suspicious, so he called the bike company customer service line directly. It turned out that
1. there was no free upgrade of back rim (which in fact kept bending)
2. this model of bike should mainly/only be sold at Wal-Mart for 70 USD!!(We both went to Wal-Mart in Linden, NJ later in July and found out that the very same model was sold there at 63.99 USD + tax!!)

My friend went back to the shops several times to fix this problem and finally settled it down by APOLOGIZING to the boss, recognizing his AUTHENTICITY and lost money equivalent to 30% of the money he paid (inc. tax) for restocking. He also needed to keep both the fenders and lock he bought initially along with the bike.

My friend paid almost three times the Wal-Mart's price without the SO-CALLED GOOD SERVICE AS SEEN ON PREVIOUS REVIEWS, and lost the money for restocking, almost equivalent to the value of the bike in Wal-Mart.

This is definitely a GREAT shop with all the bikes and spare parts a biker would ever need. However, think twice, three times or as many times as possible before you take your money out and put it into the boss's pocket!! THERE IS NO RETURN/REFUND/EXCHANGE. Make sure that you have also done a good survey about the price of that specific item you want. Be smart to yourself first!

PROS: Stock all things that a biker ever needs
CONS: Overpriced items/bikes without proportional service and courtesy

Carlos has the largest selection of quality bicycles-not some heavy huffy crap. He is not only the owner but an avid cycler himself so he knows what he is talking about. Very honest and reliable.
