I have no idea about "attitude." I got great service. The guy bought us guitars in our price range and spent two hours working with us. He did not try any of that "well, this is just a bit out of your range, but I think you might like it." In fact, he sold us down and not up. He did not offer his opinion until late in the game because he did not want to push us into something we might regret later. All this for what they would consider a "low end" acoustic.
It was a great experience and I will use them again and again.

A relatively large music store on Bleecker, it's well stocked with a wealth of acoustic and electric guitars. I've recently purchased a Guild guitar there and could not be happier. The prices are pretty competitive, it is a bit more expensive since it is an independent store, but the sales people are very nice and are willing to help you out. They even threw in two sets of strings and a bunch of picks at no charge, since I purchased a guitar (a $40 value, at least).

They've got acoustics ranging from $700 to those you probably couldn't afford ($10k +). They also sell a variety of guitar accessories from thumb picks to humidifiers.

Highly recommended for those who are looking for a good guitar to last them for the rest of their lives.

I went to this store with high expectations, it had been recommended to me. The staff had a certain air about them at first that I as a musician am aware with, it was the whole Jack Black thing in High Fidelity. I know more than you. But as time went on , my experience there morphed into the type of thing where I would ask a question about say a 4thousand or 10thousand dollar instrument I was being shown, and would get answers like "look, we only pick really good guitars here, they are all approved by Matt Umanov personally , and so they wouldnt be here if they werent good." Well, I got news for you, that isnt an answer to my question when I ask you , for example if the '74 tele you are showing me was built after the production changed on it from the years that lots of collectors like. Dont tell me , look dude, its a good guitar. Answer my freaking question, and treat me like a customer.

Good selection of guitars, but the front sticker says they are a certified Gibson dealer, and the guy behind the counter told me that "they only deal in vintage Gibson" . Great, well, then take the sticker off the door you arrogant salesman.

Heres my advice, if you want knowledgable staff, reasonable prices, and to feel like you are supporting an actual place with good energy, take your money elsewhere. Id rather go to Guitar Center than give these guys a dime, and I hate Guitar Center.
