Everything's perfect as far as being an Irish pub is concerned. The drinks, staff and pricing are great. Not a huge fan of the wings but they're at least something different. Definitely great spot to go after/before catching a train from/to Penn. And the best pre/post concert pub! The only bad thing is that it also attracts Rangers fans, you know those people with speak impediments that love to say, "Rainjaaaaaas!" and smell like sewer steam. Some of them are nice enough but.... Anyways this place rocks! Enjoy.

Pros: Owner operated; authentic freshest food

Cons: usually can't see straight when leaving

We have just come back from visiting New York for St Patrick's Day. We were staying just down the road from Molly Wee Pub. Clearly no sign of being an Irish Pub at all!!
After being greeted by who we can only assume was the bar owner, she happily greeted us knowing we were visitors and she could happily con us! Some of us sat down whilst another family member ordered drinks at the bar, when we were all seated and given the menu which was thrown down on the table at us, and asked seconds later if we had decided what we wanted) before we had even picked it up. The waitress was so miserable, never made eye contact and simple made the fish that one of my relatives ordered look more professional! After getting our order wrong twice and mixing up steaks and how we wanted them cooked, she collected the plates, not even apologizing or asking if we had finished and before we had a chance to ask to speak to the manager she slammed the bill down on the table and sarcastically said thanks! We had no intention of leaving her or the bar any kind of tip, untill we looked at the bill which said they expected 20% tip charge of the total bill?!! Joke!! My tip to her would be develop a personality and go on a course that would teach you customer service..you looked nothing but a miserable girl who needs to learn you need to earn yur tip!!
We were also told not to order drinks from the bar whilst at the table (the bar lady was lovely and only to happy to serve us) but this miserable waitress knew the more the bill from the table the more % of tip she would get...con artist and sneeky!
I wouldn't recommendanyone to go to this pub/restaurant highly dissappointing, my recommendation woud be to head towards 33rd street, great REAL IRISH bars round there (The Balarney Rock) who do not want to rip you off and understand Irish Craic!!

Pros: The young girl working behind the bar was very pleasant

Cons: Cons..where do I start? The whole pub/restaurant a con

This is a great, friendly pub to hang out in before or after an event in Madison Square Garden (it's only a few blocks away). The staff here "gets it", they are friendly, accommodating, but know when you are in a rush to catch a show (or the train). Unlike many other pubs around the city, the food is pretty good here as well.

I personally have no idea what Gabby69 is talking about I am a frequent customer of the Molly Wee and find all of the staff to be very friendly and the owners extremely welcoming. In fact according to the staff they are treated like family and my observations prove that to be true and I have seen staff members on several occasions go to the owners with personal problems which were either solved or advice was given toward that end. Many staff members have worked there for a number of years. So go back Gabby69 and take another look.

I was in this bar one nite and i can safely say i wont be back. There was a very demanding old couple sitting at the top table. They were very rude to the waitresses and very degrading. I couldnt believe how they spoke to the girls. I asked the bartender who they were and she told me they were the owners. They obviously thought they were above everyone else and can treat people like that. The woman owner was like a little bulldog, and obviously her husband beside her was shouting at the girls all nite 'bring me this, bring me that' All i can say is anyone who works there, GET OUT because there are plenty of places to work in NY that you would get respect off your bosses.

I recently visted this bar and it has to be said this is probaly one of the worst bars in New York City, Staff are unfriendly and the tension in the air was piercing almost as if the staff were uncomfortable in there job. I stayed for a couple of drinks and that was enough, I will not be returning to this bar and would advise other people to do the same

Sadly I have to say farewell to this place. My friends & I went there after class last night & were treated abominably by the manager since he felt our table was not ordering enough food. We were not confrontational with him, but he was very nasty with us. I did something I never do & went back to speak with him as we were leaving to let him know that it would be a good idea to indicate a minimum on the menu. He told me that that (my table) was B*&#%#$, and I said that there was the possibility my friends and I might not be back.

He said he did not want us back.

I was appalled. We used to hang out at this place occassionally after class. I pity the poor waitstaff that works at Molly Wee's - I can only imagine how horrible it must be to work for such a person.
As this manager requested - I won't be back.

This place is our regular stop before Knicks games. The service is friendly, clean bathrooms, good bar food, and the Guiness is always fresh.
