I have been going to Lia Schorr for 4 years now. Each time ,I was impressed by the cordial treatment and expert care. The staff is obviously skilled and they show concern for individual needs. My favorite treatments are facials and massages, but all other spa services are also available,as is a full line of quality skin care products. Lia also offers periodic treatment packages at discounted prices. This spa is an oasis of relaxation in the midst of one of the world's most hectic cities!Treat yourself to a day at Lia Schorr's!

I have been coming here for facials for the past 20 years. It's certainly not the fanciest place in town, and maybe it's not for everyone, but dollar-for-dollar, I believe that there is no equivalent place in New York City. All of the facialists are extraordinarily well-trained (no new beauty school grads practicing on your face!). They can extract all your blackheads without leaving a mark on your face, which is no mean feat. The owner, who is Israeli, is sometimes described as abrubt and rude but is actually quite nice once you get to know her. She does march to her own beat, and if you feel your experience was not what you imagined, you need to tell her as much. The way that she is able to hold down the prices on the facials, which are all topnotch, is by having the facialists float between rooms during services. That means you will likely be by yourself during the steaming and masque portions of the service, but if you can deal with that, this place is an absolute homerun. The prices are even lower when you buy a package. Being Israeli, the owner is always willing to let you "bargain" for a better price (or a free add-on service), so bear that in mind when paying.

This place may be small, but the service makes you feel like you're being pampered in a palace. The facial is a comfortable, relaxing experience... the masseuses are so incredible you would think they are mind-readers the way they hit all the right spots... and there is nowhere else i'd go for that down-there wax, simply because I know everything is clean and the ladies make you feel so at ease, that it's quick and virtually painless. The best part is that there is nowhere else in the city where you could get this kind of quality without getting ripped off.

I came here for a half day of beauty which includes: full body massage, foot reflexology, paraffin manicure/pedicure, and euro facial. I was welcomed by Lia upon arrival into the spa. She was very friendly and warm to me. My first treatment was the massage and that was absolutely lovely. The manicure/pedicure went well as well. My favorite part was the facial and the esthetician was really good. You can tell she has many good years of experience and was really good with extractions. She had to lecture me on not picking my skin, lol. I felt glowing and refreshed walking out of Lia Schorr's Spa.

I've been to a few spa's in NYC for facials and other spa services. I had a great experience at Lia's. The second you walk in you feel calm and relaxed. The menu of services is fab and the staff is very professional. I enjoyed my facial so much I fell asleep and woke up feeling totally refreshed!! Def would go back and recommend it to my friends!!!

Lia Schorr's title of "Manhattan's Best Spa" is undoubtebly a self proclaimed title...as this is by far the WORST spa (if you can call it that) I've ever been to...and I've been to many! Where to start? First, Lia Schorr is the rudest host imaginable! Her demenor and the way she treates her guests is absolutely deplorable! She doesn't know the first thing about customer service and should go to a real spa to get a lesson on how to treat your clients, and how she should re-do her facilities. There is no warm greeting when you enter, no relaxing, calming environment, no robe, no slippers, no munchies, the same Lipton tea I have in my office (stirofoam cup and all!), no serene music...none of that! I'm convinced that all the positive comments about the spa are written by either Lia herself, a family member or friend, or someone she paid off. It should've been a tip-off when there were no pictures of the facility on any website...if I were her, I wouldn't want to promote my dentist office-turn "day spa" facilities either! Who would've guessed that at "Manhattan's Best Spa" there were no showers to wash off your massage oils after your massage?!! After you're all lathered up with oil, you have to find a possible position to stand in the incredibly cramped room, to just slick your clothes back on...sans calming shower, variety of shampoos and soaps, toiletries...and all the other wonderful things we spa goers have come to enjoy and expect from a spa! It's literally, like a dentist office....you're there, you wait (maybe get insulted a couple of times, or witness someone else get insulted) you go in, and you go out....then, Lia takes your money....Trust me....you're money would be better spent at your neighborhood nail salon....and the service would be a million times better and I'm sure the facilities are nicer than the deplorable ones you'll find at Lia Schorr! Never again!

I have used Lia's company for many years. I primarily go for facials having had problem skin when I was younger. I'm particular to Alla or Eugenia who have been there forever and are very good. This is a facial for people who like extraction and clean pores rather than just someone mushing cream around on your face. It is well-priced and Lia always remembers her loyal clients with a discounted offer of a package of 6 facials. She participates in Spa Week for a full month which makes it easier to get an appt. and take advantage of that twice a year. Overall, very good value- the ladies never rush you and don't push products.

I was very pleased with the level of professional experience I had at the Lia Schorr Spa this Friday. My esthetician Lydia was very attentive to me, and I truly enjoyed my facial. I'm an incredibly fussy person, and I've been going to many salons over the years, but I felt that Lydia did an amazing job. I would recommend this place to anyone. I felt like I was away from the noisy city - very relaxed, and the place was also very clean. I will definetly be making a trip there very soon.

I went to Lia Schorr for the first time before my wedding. I was nervous because I heard horror stories about the way the skins looks after a facial. At Lia's I was not disappointed. I chose the European Deep Pore Cleansing facial. Massage, steam and exfoliation couldn't be any better. My skin felt amazing, tight , smooth and clear. It looked flawless in my pictures. When I got back from my honeymoon, I bought a package of 6. I highly recommend going here!

I really am surprised with all the great reviews on this place. Unfortunately, my experience wasn?t so great. I went in last month for a facial, and I?ll just say that I was sitting in the room for AN HOUR AND 45 MINUTES - The aesthetician spent more time outside of the room than inside with me. (She was clearly working with another client because I could hear her outside of the room).

It all started with the steaming part of the facial ? she left me under that thing for, no joke, almost 20 minutes. TRUST ME, I?m not exaggerating ? I kept looking at my watch. (And I?ve heard it?s not good to steam you?re face for too long because then when you?re getting your extractions done these can more easily lead to broken capillaries). Anyhow, every chance she got she was leaving me with some kind of solution or mask on my face ? it was a very unpleasant experience. And I won?t even get too much into the extractions because I know they?re supposed to be unpleasant ? but my God, this woman left 2 purple marks on my face and I was so afraid I was going to be left with a scar. I already have acne prone skin so I have some hyperpigmentation to worry about ? but when I saw those 2 purple marks on my face I was very scared they were going to be permanent. I really wish I could remember her name ? she was very nice, but very neglectful and kept trying to get me to buy products from their spa and to also get more services. The woman even STRONGLY urged me to come in for a facial every TWO WEEKS! Which my dermatologist told me I should definitely not do ? she said ideally I should do it every 4-6 weeks.

Last but not least I have to say that Lia was rather rude when greeting me and also when I was paying her. She didn?t even look up as she asked me how everything was and she just looked upset. I understand people have bad days, but she's running a business. She needs to leave all that at the door and treat everyone nicely so they can return. Needless to say, I will not be going to this place ever again.

I am currently Group Editorial Director of Beauty Fashion Magazine. I first met Lia in 1980 when I was Beauty Editor of Health Magazine, and she had just left Georgette Klinger to establish herself in her current location at 686 Lexington Avenue. Through the years Lia and I not only have developed a very special friendship but professionally she gives superb service with highly professional aestheticians. Pedicures and manicures are the best I've ever had; that's why I continue to go to her salon/spa. I recently strayed and had an upper lip wax at another salon due to an article I was writing. Not only was it terrible, I came away with an open sore which took 2 weeks to heal. I returned to Lia Schorr for my usual upper lip wax and there was not even a mark on my upper lip after the Schorr 'treatment.' Lia is a thorough professional, and she hires only the best people to service her clients. As I always say in Beauty Fashion, it's all about service. Bravo Lia.

I first went to Lia Schorr in my twenties - more than 20 years ago when no one was catering to men.

I went back today and Lia looks the same if not younger which tells me alot about her business and expertise!!!

I realize as I get older skin care is not a luxury but a necessity. They took very good care of me and did not push me to buy products I do not need - which is very rare these days.

Still impressive after all these years - I will not wait another 20 years to go back!!!

I hadn't had time for a facial for years, but knew I needed to start taking care of my skin. Years ago the place to go was Lia Schorr, so I made an appointment. She was the best then - and I am happy to say after my facial today - still the best. In a city where we are supposed to judge a "spa" or salon by what drink they serve you, it was so glorious to be in the hands of a real aesthetician, providing the care and cleansing my skin needed in a quiet, relaxed, clean atmosphere. My skin looks great, but better yet, I was made to feel great.

In the 80s and 90s there was always the A list celebrity or two getting a manicure with the rest of us mere mortals. But the real celebrity is Lia who has created a beauty oasis. The best then and now!

So Far i have read 40 bad reviews on lia schorr. i have not yet gone to the spa but when i called to make an appointment it was unprofessional. i got on the phone and some one picked up the phone and said lia schorr then i said hello may i make an appointment she say for what in a rude voice and i said for the teen spa then she says one moment , one moment felt like an hour then she comes back ask me what time do i wanna come i ask her what time was available she said 11-am and i waited to see if there was any else but she dident nothing else so i said okay i take that one and she asked for my name i stated my name and then she say okay and hung up. meanwhile im thinking how come she ask for what i wanted done. manicure or pedicure or back massage or nothing. so i say that was unprofessional i will check this place and come back to u

Lia Schorr is a wonderful day spa; as a busy working mother, I really value the fact that she is very flexible with appointments and you can get in at the last minute. Her technicians are extremely nice and create a soothing environment where I can always relax. They do a great job; the manicures/pedicures and facials I have received have been top-notch and they are always willing to accomodate my schedule; doing multiple treatments at once, etc. The products that I have purchased have been great, and I have not found them to be pushy at all. I would definitely recommend this spa.

This spa is a wonderful, hospitable place. Lia and her professional staff have been taking care of me for about 15 years, and I have always been pleased with the results. Because I have a hectic life as a lawyer, I appreciate Lia's kind demeanor and willingness to accommodate me at the last minute. Lia's staff members are very welcoming and well-trained, and the spa is clean and comforting. I have had a range of superior treatments at the spa, from facials to pedicures to waxing to massages.

"I went to Lia Schorr after receiving a gift certificate. It was an awful experience.
The owner is extremely rude, abrasive and extremely unprofessional. Maybe this place was the place to go 20 years ago but not now. She needs to redo the environment of the spa and adjust her attitude.

I made an appointment and told her that I had this gift certificate for a facial, massage, manicure, pedicure and bikini wax. When I got there she told me the I would not be getting the manicure/pedicure/bikini because that person wasn't working that day. In what spa in Manhattan can you not get a simple manicure any day of the week?

The individuals that did the massage and facial (Alla) were very nice. However, they did keep going in and out of the room (which was dirty and small) and kept the door open. The atmosphere was not very calming or luxurious.

The website is horrible too.

I would not recommend this place and never go again."

When it comes to handling acneic skin Lia schorr has the best facialist in Manhattan. A year ago I started getting acne, at 34 years old I was mortified. I had gone to at least 5 different facialists on Long Island before someone mentioned Lia Schorr Day spa and recommended Ala. So of course i was willing to try anything to get rid of this problem and for the past 6 months Ala has been working with me on a monthly basis. Between the facials with extractions (which is key), along with the different treatments she uses on my face, like masks, spot treatments and different electrical machines my face has been spot free for the last 2 months. ala really is an amazing facialist and I am extremely satisfied with my results!!!!!!

As a frequently returning customer to this spa, I wanted to express all the excellent experiences I've had here. I have known Lia for a number of years and always enjoy entering the spa to her warm welcoming attitude. In my teenage years I struggled with many skin issues, including acne. I can't even describe in words how it feels to look in the mirror today and see flawless skin. The treatments I have had from the most caring employees have really changed my life. I will contine to return on a monthly basis fro many years to come. Every treatment is worth every penny. Also I really suggest Lia Schorr's Equalizer Serum and Vitamin C and E Serum as they are both excellent products. I would suggest this spa to everyone based on all my wonderful experiences! My friend bought me a gift certificate for a facial for my birthday. I went in and had the most horrible 'spa' expereince I've ever had. The owner is so mean and pushy and treated me like dirt when I didn't want to upgrade. The esthetician was pretty nice and did an okay job (she did leave the room to attend to other people a lot and the place is really nasty - not spa-like at all). When I was finished, I got more and more pressure to buy things I didn't want. I will certainly never go back there again and I'm writing this to warn anyone else - if you're going to go somewhere to relax and get pampered, go somewhere else. If you want to be badgered and harassed, this is the place for you.

I discovered Lia Schorr more than 20 years ago. It's a great place to escape your daily routine in the city. Facials are so relaxing, I walk out afterward feeling like I had a vacation. Everyone on the staff is very knowledgeable about skin and extremely gentle. Prices are reasonable. Plus, it's the best place for waxing. I tell all my friends to go to Lia. And my 16-year-old daughter loves going there, too.

I have been going regularly for over a year now, and have seen dramatic improvements in my skin. I work in performing arts, and travel extensively, and my skin had really been suffering from the hard water, stress and wild environmental changes. When I went for my first facial, I had a bad rosacea and patchy skin... now, going regularly to see Alla (one of the great aestheticians) every few months, my skin is more healthy -- no more rosacea, very few bad days even on long tours. It's great! The facials are thorough, and professional. The environment is not intimidating. You get what you come for -- thoroughly clean skin and good advice on how to keep it that way.

Twenty five years ago I was on a mission to find an aesthetian for facials to improve my skin.
Lia Schorr Salon was one of the many I considered. Lia was the most knowlwdgable in facials, skin care, lifestyle and nutrition. After a facial, my skin and pores were immaculately clean. After I finished a series of facials with Lia, my skin was the best it ever was. I was hesitant to change to one of the other aesthetians that Lia recommended. I was very happy after trying a facial with Eugenia and continued to book my appointments with her. The .Lia Schorr Salon is an immaculate and relaxing retreat in the middle of the city.
Lia is a hard worker and has extensive knowledge and skill in skin care. Not only from my 25 years of personal experience, but other clients have told me that because of Lia, today they have the skin they want.

Lia herself, is the ultimate in knowing what I
want, that comes with her years of experience in the industry. In asking her a
question on skincare she knows exactly what product I will need, she is
accomodating for making appointments, for she understands my busy schedule.
Tammy is the best with pampering my nails and toes exstreamly attentive to
making them just perfect and Virginia is a must for the ultimate facial
designed just for me. The knowledge that everyone has here in caring for your needs

it was a completely divine experience! I had the most amazing Facial, Mani/ Pedi, and full body massage. I had my second visit with Eugenia yesterday and it confirmed how great she was on my first visit. She's such a wonderful, sweet woman who really knows skin and how to treat it. I came with very congested, sensitive skin that needs to be fixed for my summer wedding and after her extractions I felt immediately better. Later that week my mother kept exclaiming how improved my skin looked! Eugenia never pushed products on me and instead recommended how to use the ones I already had. As others have pointed out, this is not a trendy spa where you come (and pay for) and luxury amenities but you get amazing skin care for a very fair price.

I went there just for a consiltation ... it was for a dark mark I had on my cheeck ... I had gone to dermatologists and nobody knew how to help me. Lia's aesthtician figured out that it was a bruise and not a brown spot. They did end up selling me this product for $75, I bought it because I was pretty desperate and wanted the bruse to go away .... and have to say that it worked (that, together with total sunblock that I figured out to put while tanning).
Bottom line, I believe they got it right, it was actually a bruse.
Lia though always wants you to buy stuff, packages and products, which makes the whole experience less pleasant.

Lia Schorr Day Spa was menioned lately in Time-Out Magazine and New York Magazine as the Best Spa in New York. Being that it is a hard economic time, I wanted to change from going to Bliss, which is so expensive to a reputable and reasonble place.
I have heard about Lia Schorr for the past 20 years.Even though I live all the way downtown I made the effort because the prices were great. When I got there, I was amazed at the services. The facial massage and the pedicure were the best I ever had.
Sometimes hard times bring you luck and savings for my empty pocket.

In San Francisco, I went to Bella Spa , in LA, I went to Georgette Klinger, in NY, I searched on the internet and I found Lia Schorr Day Spa. The location and the hours were perfect.The spa was wonderful. It was very cozy. The music was nice and the atmosphere was very serene. The facialists and the other technicians worked there for 22 years with great prideand a sense of belonging.
The service is top notch and was one of the best facials I have ever had.When I left, you would have never known I just had a facial. My skin looked flawless. What a great job!
The Hot Stone Massage was divine and made me feel like a million dollars.
The pedicure was Amazing, very thorough, European Style.
I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for the Best Place in town. This is really worth finding.

I received an email from spa week for an extraordinary special. It was called the Heavenly Package and it was that and so much more. It included a Deep-pore Cleansing Facial, European Pedicure and a Hot Stone Massage. My husband and I travel all over the world and visit many spas internationally, but Lia Schorr Day Spa really impressed me. The staff was so warm and professional and the services were the best we ever had. We left feeling that we had a mini vacation.
We are hooked on Lia Schorr Day Spa and we have become regular clients there.
Now we always receive emails from Lia Schorr with her seasonal specials that are so well- priced.

I've been to many spas from average to luxury including Juvenex, Elizabeth Arden, Bliss, Townhouse, and Great Jones.

I first tried Lia Schorr because I got some kind of discount (perhaps through this website) and it was near my office. I went on a Saturday for a facial and an ionic eye treatment - early in the morning, at about 10. I had to wait 45 minutes, and to make matters worse, people who got to the spa after me were put in line ahead of me. The facial was just okay - but I really enjoyed the eye treatment (I have not had this treatment at any other spa so I cannot compare) - but it helped my under-30 but tired from working at a law firm eyes to feel like I had slept and look like I had slept, when I had not.

When I checked out, Lia asked if I wanted to get a package of 6 facials, and I said I didn't have time to use them at work because I'm too busy, but she haggled me into getting a package of 6 eye treatments. I figured this was doable since they are supposed to take 8 minutes (15 or so if you count for wiping the collagen stuff off, putting your makeup back on, etc.). I bill by the hour so that's about all I can do on my lunch break.
Eye treatment - today. I did not have to wait to get into the room, but as soon as I got there, the woman doing my treatment left for 15 minutes. When I went to check out, Lia told me I have 3 months to use the remaining treatments on the package, because I had waited to long to use them. THERE WAS NO EXPIRATION DATE! I told her that and she just said it was her spa and she could do what she wanted. I told her she had horrible customer service, and the whole reason it took me so long to come back is because I need a day where there wouldn't be a wait. Unheard of. At any other spa of quality, the matron would give you a free treatment! NEVER AGAIN!

I?ve had an active back problem for quite some time. I started treating my back at the Lia Schorr Day Spa for back cleansing which made a great difference. Then my facialist Alla suggested I have microdermabrasion on my back. It made such a great improvement I can honestly say the difference in my back is like night & day. I got a total of 6 treatments in a two week period and am now free of any & all back problems.

My fiance & I received a spa gift certificate to the renowned Lia Schorr Day Spa for our engagement. What a wonderful staff they have there. The place is so clean & the music that can be heard in the background is so peaceful. My Deep Pore Cleansing Facial was one of the best I?ve ever had and the French Manicure was perfect. My fiance loved his buffing manicure and his Sport Massage. He also had a facial that was so expertly tailored to his skin it was great! We were both treated very special. This place has such a high standard of service & professionalism. I LOVE this place!

Having a facial at the Lia Schorr Day Spa is an experience you will never forget. Not only do you get to be greeted & have your skin analyzed by none other than the famous skin care expert herself, Lia, you also get Eugenia who has been there for 22 years & is also an expert in skin. She is soft spoken, gentle, & truly professional. Her analysis of the skin is always accurate. The neck & shoulder massage is fluid just like a piano movement, and the extractions are painless. She explains every step she takes & leaves your skin feeling like she never even touched it. No marks, no redness, just glowing and radiant skin. The price beats all other places & it?s without a doubt the most fantastic facial you will ever have.

I am not a fan of waxing in general, especially when it pertains to the oh-so sensitive bikini area. However, a friend of mine told me about this marvelous lady who works for Lia Schorr, who has a reputation for giving the best Brazilian in town. Needless to say, I strongly desired to try it. I booked myself an appointment and when I met the lady who was to perform my waxing, I felt immediately reassured. She was petite, charming, and she had a great personality. She was totally professional and the Brazilian was fast and painless. I am now addicted and have been coming every month since. My husband is quite happy!

I do a lot of gardening in the summer and spend a lot of time sailing. Most of my time is spent outdoors, so it comes as no surprise that my skin has faced a lot of sun exposure. My skin is overly dry and scaly, and it is constantly itching. I had read about the Lia Schorr Oxygen facial and had decided to try it for myself. It was awesome! The mixture of vitamins, as well as the actual spraying of the oxygen was a great combination of ingredients for my skin. My skin felt awakened, smooth, very well hydrated, and glowing! It felt so incredible that I had two more treatments in the following weeks. My mission is now to do this throughout the year as I am also a ski bunny, and I know just how harsh the winter can be on the skin.

They know what they are doing, but the owner, who must be in her late 60's, is curt, very, very business like and only interested in how much money she can make you part with. She instructs her staff to try to make you spend and spend and spend. I would not go there agaign Not comfortable with the sales pressure.

For me, having a facial is a ritual priority for me. I?ve been getting facials once a month since I?m 16. Georgette Klinger used to be my favorite, I went there for 30 years, however sadly they are no longer in business. When they finally did close their doors I wanted to find a spa that had similarities to Georgette Klinger. I had heard that Lia Schorr had worked there for 7 years before opening her own salon. Eugenia, who has been at Lia Schorr for over 22 years, attended to me. She was excellent, soft spoken, well mannered, and she really knows skin. She provided a thorough analysis on my skin & then got to work on my face. She massage my neck & shoulders, as well as my face. The massage was lovely. She them steamed my face to open up my pores & performed a lot of extractions for a very lone time. She?s so thorough! She then applied two masks. It was then that she suggested that I undergo an oxygen treatment as well. I was in heaven with my skin. It looked & felt clean, glowing & fresh. I am now a steady customer for life! I would gladly recommend the Lia Schorr Day Spa to anyone looking for the absolute BEST in skin care in town.
