I recently purchased a six month old kitten from a pet store that gave me a voucher for free neutering at the Bellport Animal Hospital. I had never been there before, and would never go back after having been there now. I brought my kitten in for a check up and saw a male doctor that told me he was very healthy and to bring him back in three weeks to be neutered. All seemed well. Three weeks later I returned with my little guy and saw a female doctor who very quickly ran through a list of tests I should have done before proceeding with the surgery. She was insisting on pulling his baby teeth and told me that if she did not pull them, his baby teeth and adult teeth would fall out. She convinced me to have an x-ray done on his heart because she said she heard a very slight murmur. After she did the x-ray, she told me his heart was slightly enlarged and I needed to get an echocardiogram done on him for $350 before they put him under anesthesia. I felt something wasn't right and decided to hold off on the neutering and the test. Two days later his baby teeth that she insisted wouldn't come out on their own fell out, and the new vet that I went to said there was no murmur and nothing wrong with his heart. I am convinced they just didn't want to do that free neutering and tried to take me for as much as they could. I would never go back there again, and I would advise everyone looking for a vet to look elsewhere.
