Just an amazing group of educators in a brand new facility. My son has been attending since he was 19 months old and I wouldn't trust his early childhood education in any other place.

The YWCA of Binghamton has been under construction for the past two years improving the environments that are available to the women and children that are serviced by their many programs. Young Wonders opened two years ago after being closed for a year to completly restucture its administration. Young Wonders is currently a very high quality child care center with very qualified staff. Each classroom consists of two lead teachers who have to have current early childhood education backgrounds, they must be trained in CPR and First Aid, and a number of the staff are trained in Medication Administration. The center now has an advisory committee, has active collaborations with the United Way, Department of Health, Broome Community College, and the Department of Social Services. The center has also implemented many other higher standards into the program such as systems for primary caregiving and maintaining continuity of care, individualized curriculums, menus that are monitored by the Child and Adult Care Food program, a Fruits and Vegetables policy, a Breastfeeding policy, and there are opportunities for swimming instruction along with an indoor gymnasium. There is a lot of positive feedback about the new center and references can be provided from families who are currently involved in partnering with the staff to ensure the best possible care and learning environments are provided for the children.

The Ywca had a day care center that lost its state day care accredidation because it had workers who were abusing the children they were taking care of. This abuse was caught on tape and the director only repremanded the abuser employee until the place was turned in to the state by parents whose children were abused. It wasn't only one worker who was physically abusing the kids it was found out and the State of New York shut the daycare down.
This day care primarily took in social service clients children because the fees for their services were reasonable. It has recently opened back up but my opinion is I would not jeopardize the safety of my child when I cannot be around to look after them.
Whether you pay babysitting fees to this place or the state pays for daycare for its social service clients to house their kids there its not worth compromising your childrens well being just so that some inexperienced day care workers can get their jollys by using your kids as punching bags.

PROS: none
CONS: ABUSE is the key element to this day care.
