While this book store has tons of books on all different subjects, I love coming here because it has a special section of books about New York, which appeals to both New Yorkers and tourists alike. The people who work here are also really into what they do and you can tell how much pride they take in knowing about the merchandise and the authors that they promote.

Crawford - Doyle is the typeof bookshop that would appeal to the writer in you. The selection runs to the literary and everything is well displayed. The staff are very knowlegdable and very friendly. I have shopped here a few times for gifts and have been well satisfied with my purchases. As the city is slowly being overrun by Barnes And Noble it's good to see at least one independant bookshop that has stayed true to it's vision.

PROS: Tremendous Staff
CONS: Wish they were open longer hours

Crawford Doyle Booksellers is a nice negihborhood indelendent book shop. They carry an eclectic mix, lots of books on art and photography mixed in with some best sellers. The service is top notch and very friendly. Just a block from the Metropolitan Museum so you can combine the two for a lovely day trip.
