Professional and kind

I have had a great experience at the 145th street Animal Hospital. I have a german shepard that is my best friend. Dr. Butler has taking extrodinary care of her since I first came to her five years ago. She is the only vet that I trust for diagnostics and checkups. She is honest and is serious about the health of my dog. She knows what she is doing. What a blessing!
Pros: experienced, kind, understanding
Cons: small space

Dr. Buttler passionate with animals
by Obot
Dr. Butler is very attentive to all her 4 legged patients or those that crawl like pet snakes.
I have reffered many pet owners to her and they are very satistied.
She just upgraded her equipement. This makes it easier for diagnosis and surgery.
Pros: Very honest diagnosis
Cons: Pet owners may not like her honest opinion

Long Wait, No Answers.
by PassingThrough
I recently moved back to New York. With the move, my puppy lost an awesome Vet. But because he has all of his shots and is healthy and active, this was not a major issue. While exploring the neighborhood, I found this Vet. I took my dog there because a mysterious bald spot popped up on his leg.
I called the Thursday I saw the spot and explained the urgency. When I adopted him, he had Demodectic Mites. It was a long ordeal and he has been healthy since, but the spot caused me to fear that it had returned. But the receptionist kindly let me know that there was no way he could be seen until the next week. I calmed myself and decided that I would wait it out.
I was on time for my appointment, but I was not seen until 90 minutes later. Though compassionate and interested, the Vet had no answers, not even a theory. During my time with her, I asked her some side questions about a new all natural food and a very popular tool used for shedding in dogs both of which she had never heard of. She prescribed Animax and an E-collar; to follow-up in a week. Took another 30 minutes to pay and get the Rx (though I was the only person left in the office). I left very disturbed and confused. How could a Vet not know what was wrong?
Through research online, I was able to find a likely diagnosis, 'lick granuloma.' Makes perfect sense as we just moved into a new place and my dog is alone much more (all info I shared with her). Through three weeks of the E-collar (only when alone) and some home remedies, he is now fine.
Though everyone in the office is nice and cordial (which is why I gave them one star) I do not recommend this Vet. The wait was excessive and she could not recognize what is a very common ailment for bored City dogs. Though this is the only Vet in the area, I am willing to travel to find a vet that respects my time, is more knowledgeable, and in tune with dog trends.
Pros: Only Vet in Area
Cons: Long wait (with appointment), Was unable to diagnose

Neighborhood Icon

I am constantly impressed with the Dr at the 145th Street Animal Hospital. She takes time to talk to ME about my animals. She asks pertinent questions that help me to investigate the problems with my pets. I admit that I do have to wait, but since I know that the DR going to spend quality time with me and my pets, the wait is worth it. She goes out of her way to make me feel comfortable and understands what I am going through because she also has pets. I am sure that the person that gave one star is mistaken. Dr. Butler and her staff are very helpful. WE are so fortunate to have a veterinarian of this caliber in our neighborhood.
Pros: Cornell graduate, 20 years in the neighborhood, staff is friendly,
Cons: wish they were open 7 days a week

DR. GOOD, GROOM AWFUL!
by candacejean
I do like the dr. but please do not use groomer. I've heard bad comments but ignored them. She is sloppy and does with the dog what she pleases. Forget about what the client wants. shampoo in eye and neglected to tell owner. If she "cares" so much about dogs she would try to fix the problem. Not hide it. very dissatisfied with "Analis" or whatever her name is. PLEASE!! DO NOT USE HER!

Small shop but takes good care of pets and has a great knowledge of animals
by jusfre15
Although small, this vet is a community maverick that knows the clients she serves. She has been in the same office for many years and respects the relationship between pets and thier parents. She is the only doctor in the practice and yet she spends whatever time she needs to relieve the pet parent of whatever concerns them. So although the hours are challenging to work around, I think it's worth it to do so!
Pros: Great Doctor!
Cons: small shop; limited hours
