WONDERFUL PLACE. I have been going there for 20 years with my dogs. Caring, kind staff.

My husband and I have been loyal patrons to Georgetown Animal Clinic for fifteen years. We have taken both rabbits and dogs to Georgetown, and we feel that our pets have always gotten the best care possible. All of the doctors, technicians, and clerical staff are knowledgeable, kind, and compassionate. They are willing to listen, take the time to explain, and give good advice. Georgetown also offers wellness plans for pets and payment plans too. They have convenient hours and will fit you in if a concern suddenly arises.

Will never take my dog to them again. My dog has been having limping issues. I took her into there twice and they gave me two different diagnosis. The one said it was a dislocated shoulder. I have a 70lb german shepherd and the vet I'm now taking her too (Dr. Tillou in Hamburg NY) said that is impossible for a dog her size unless she ruptured the tendon. The georgetown vet said "I must have popped it back in place on accident" when we did the follow up. The hamburg vet said if it was dislocated surgery would have been the only way to fix it. The vets don't seem to know what they are talking about. Another vet there told me it could be elbow dysplesia but she has no pain when you bend the elbow. They also refused to give me the anti-inflammatory medicine that fixed the problem without paying close to $1300 for x-rays. Well the new vet I have taking her too diagnosed her with paneostitis and prescribed the medication which worked. Georgetown makes the owners feel stupid and blame them for any problems. They just seem to be into it to take your money and don't care about the animals well being.

Unfortunately, the old saying "You get what you pay for" does not apply in this case.

For 14 years, our beloved family pet was a patient under this clinic's care. When he started exhibiting symptoms that suggested a GI disorder, the clinic repeatedly blamed the issues on "food intolerances" and "allergies" without testing or an office visit.

When the problem exacerbated, he was taken into the clinic and we were repeatedly told his age was to blame for his condition. Over the course of 5 days, he was seen by three different doctors and received three different diagnoses and prognoses while we watched him deteriorate. One doctor insisted that normal peristalsis visible on an xray was indicative of a severe GI disorder and that food was not making its way to the rest of the stomach. (An ultrasound and further xrays at a different clinic showed his stomach was just fine). Their final recommendation was to euthanize him and they had the gall to ask if we'd like a "paw print" made after he was put to sleep (of course at an additional charge)!

We sought a second opinion and discovered there was absolutely no evidence of either diagnosis the three doctors at Georgetown insisted upon. Unfortunately, we made the decision to seek more competent care too late. A week later, our beloved pet had declined significantly and was put to sleep. An autopsy revealed end stage colon cancer - not even remotely close to either diagnosis Georgetown insisted upon.

I would not recommend this clinic to anyone who wants the best care for their beloved family member. I truly believe that what happened to our family was avoidable and our beloved pet suffered needlessly. I am disgusted by the growing trend of using "old age" as a diagnosis. These doctors watched our beloved family member grow up. I expected them to have shown a little more compassion and a LOT more competence.

I have used Vet clinics all over the country and Georgetown is truly a world class operation. I want the best for my animals and I'm thrilled that there is a vet in the area that is this good.

pets are people in disguise and at Georgetown, they are treated that way too! 26 years later and I still take my pets there and love the service and care they provide. You won't find a better vet anywhere.
